There was one upsetting development, but late good news for the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday.
Early in the day, the team announced that forward Jaden McDaniels will be out week-to-week with a left knee injury -- patella tendinopathy and a bone bruise.
However, Anthony Edwards, the NBA's third-leading scorer who has missed the last six games with a right knee injury, has been listed as available to play in Monday night's game at Dallas.
McDaniels, a model of consistency in six seasons with the Wolves, suffered the injury late in the March 25 overtime win vs. Houston and did not play in Minnesota' loss to Detroit on Saturday. McDaniels tallied 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting vs. the Rockets.
He was averaging a career-best 14.8 points per game --third-best on the team -- and posting highs in field goal percentage (51.8%), 3-point percentage (42.1%) and assists per game (2.7).
McDaniels played in and started all 82 games in 2024-25 and has played no fewer than 70 games in each of the past five seasons. He averages 11.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in 437 contests (361 starts) and is regarded as the team's premier perimeter defender.
Edwards has been absent for 16 of 74 games this season and would be ineligible for any postseason awards with another missed game. He is averaging 29.5 points per game and also has been shooting at a personal-best clip this season-- hitting 49.2% from the floor and 40.2% from beyond the arc.
The duo has been teammates for six years. Edwards was the first overall pick by the Timberwolves in the 2020 draft, while McDaniels went to the Lakers later in the first round but was traded twice in the next few days.
Minnesota and Houston are tied for fifth place in the Western Conference with records of 45-29. They trail Denver by two games and are four games clear of seventh-place Phoenix.
Washington Wizards forward Anthony Gill (ankle) will play Monday against the Lakers after being listed as questionable earlier in the day. The veteran could see steady minutes with Alexandre Sarr (toe) and Bilal Coulibaly (heel) both sidelined, giving Washington few reliable frontcourt options. Gill has quietly produced 12.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.6 steals across his last five appearances, making him a possible deep-league option for managers needing efficient scoring and steals. Tristan Vukcevic and Justin Champagnie should also continue seeing stable roles with the Wizards short on size.
Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant (calf) will miss Tuesday's game against the Clippers, marking his second straight absence. His absence should continue to open minutes and usage for Scoot Henderson, who moved into the starting group Sunday and responded with 21 points and seven assists. Henderson shapes up as a strong short-term fantasy play for points and assists while Grant remains out. Deni Avdija could take on a bit more of the scoring load, while Toumani Camara may see a small bump in minutes as Portland looks for ways to cover Grant's absence.
Washington Wizards guard/forward Bilal Coulibaly (heel) will miss Monday's game against the Lakers, creating more minutes on the wing for a young rotation already missing Alexandre Sarr (toe). Will Riley could be in line for a larger role after scoring 14 points with one three-pointer in 26 minutes last game, while Justin Champagnie added 10 points, one three-pointer, and one block in 24 minutes. Jamir Watkins also chipped in eight points in 17 minutes. Riley stands out as the most interesting deep-league streamer for scoring, while Champagnie offers modest category depth if minutes hold.
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Keon Ellis will start Monday against Utah with Jarrett Allen (knee), Max Strus (foot), Dean Wade (ankle), and Jaylon Tyson (toe) all sidelined. Ellis has shown he can chip in steals with modest scoring when given extended minutes, including a recent start in which he produced 17 points and two steals across 37 minutes. He also added 10 points, two threes, two assists, and one steal in 25 minutes off the bench his last time out. Ellis looks like a reasonable short-term pickup in deeper leagues for anyone needing defensive stats.
Utah Jazz guard Elijah Harkless (hamstring) will not play Monday against Cleveland due to hamstring soreness, thinning an already depleted backcourt. With Isaiah Collier (hamstring) and Keyonte George (hamstring) also sidelined, Kennedy Chandler could see more ballhandling duties after posting 11 points, three rebounds, and eight assists in 24 minutes last game. Bez Mbeng may also pick up extra run after contributing five points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 17 minutes. Chandler is worth a look for managers needing assists in deeper leagues, while Mbeng is more of a wait-and-see option unless minutes climb.
Toronto Raptors guard/forward RJ Barrett (shoulder) is listed as probable for Tuesday's game against Detroit and is expected to play through left shoulder soreness. The 25-year-old has averaged 18.8 points, 1.4 three-pointers, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in 27.5 minutes over his last five games and should continue handling significant usage with Immanuel Quickley (foot) sidelined. Barrett also delivered 24 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals in 27 minutes Sunday. Jamal Shead and Scottie Barnes should continue sharing playmaking duties, but Barrett remains a must-start option for points and secondary assists.
Toronto Raptors guard/forward Brandon Ingram (heel) is questionable for Tuesday's game against Detroit due to ongoing right heel soreness after sitting out the previous contest. If he remains out, Jamal Shead could continue starting after producing 12 points, two rebounds, 10 assists, and three steals in 23 minutes last game, giving him short-term value for assists and steals. Ja'Kobe Walter added 11 points, three three-pointers, and six rebounds in 28 minutes, while Gradey Dick chipped in 11 points off the bench. Scottie Barnes would also remain a primary offensive hub if Ingram sits again.
Toronto Raptors guard Immanuel Quickley (foot) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against Detroit as he continues to manage right foot plantar fasciitis. His absence should keep second-year guard Jamal Shead in the starting lineup after he averaged 11.7 points, 8.1 assists, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals across 10 starts this season, making him a viable assists streamer in standard leagues. Scottie Barnes should continue to see elevated playmaking duties, while RJ Barrett (shoulder), if cleared, could also take on more usage. Quickley remains a hold in most formats, though fantasy managers in shallow playoff leagues may need healthier options.
Dallas Mavericks forward Caleb Martin (heel) will remain sidelined for Monday's matchup against Minnesota, extending his recent stretch on the inactive list due to a right heel issue. The veteran wing last appeared March 15, finishing with five points, one rebound, and one three in eight minutes, and he has not held a meaningful fantasy role even when healthy. His continued absence mainly preserves rotation minutes for Khris Middleton and Klay Thompson, while Brandon Williams could also maintain deep-league streaming appeal. Martin can remain on waiver wires outside of very deep formats.
Dallas Mavericks center Daniel Gafford (shoulder) is available for Monday's game against Minnesota after missing two contests with a right shoulder sprain. He should immediately reclaim starting duties and push Dwight Powell back to a reserve role. Gafford has averaged 17.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 26.4 minutes over his last five games, giving him solid value in field goal percentage, rebounds, and blocks during the fantasy finals. His return gives Dallas a needed interior presence and makes Powell more of a fringe option only in very deep formats. Gafford should be rostered wherever available.
Dallas Mavericks forward/center Marvin Bagley III (shoulder) will not play Monday against Minnesota due to a left shoulder impingement after posting 26 points, nine rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block in 27 minutes Friday. His absence should lock Daniel Gafford into heavy minutes and keep Dwight Powell in the rotation after Powell produced four points, five rebounds, and three assists in 21 minutes last game. Gafford, who has averaged 17.4 points and 10.4 rebounds over his last five, profiles as the safer fantasy play, while Powell is only a deep-league streamer for managers chasing rebounds.
Memphis Grizzlies forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper (wrist) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Phoenix Suns. The second-year forward is dealing with right wrist soreness that will keep him out of this contest. His absence from the rotation should mean more minutes for Taylor Hendricks and Tyler Burton. Between the two, Hendricks is the better streaming choice for Monday's slate. Hendricks offers some deep league value and could be worth a look as a cheaper DFS option for Monday's slate.
Dallas Mavericks forwards P.J. Washington (illness) and Naji Marshall (illness) will not play Monday against Minnesota, leaving Dallas thin across the forward spots. Their absences should open short-term streaming appeal for Khris Middleton and Klay Thompson, who could see expanded minutes and usage. Middleton posted 11 points, one three-pointer, three rebounds, and five assists in 18 minutes in his last appearance, while Thompson logged seven points, two threes, two rebounds, three assists, and one block in 18 minutes last game. Brandon Williams and Ryan Nembhard could also see deeper-league value if Dallas leans smaller.
Detroit Pistons forward Ausar Thompson (ankle) is available to play ahead of Monday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Thompson will shed the questionable tag and suit up for this game despite dealing with an ankle issue. It's the front end of a back-to-back set, so Thompson could sit out on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should check back for an update on his status ahead of that game against the Toronto Raptors. Thompson will likely be asked to take on a larger role offensively with Tobias Harris (hip), Duncan Robinson (hip), and Jalen Duren (knee) all sidelined. He should be a solid fantasy option with the Pistons shorthanded for Monday's slate.
Chicago Bulls center Nick Richards (elbow) has been ruled out ahead of Monday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. Richards will miss his third game in a row due to a sprained right elbow. This absence should mean that Guerschon Yabusele should draw at least one more start at the center spot. Fantasy managers should consider Yabusele a possible streaming option or cheap DFS choice while Richards is out. Leonard Miller should also see a larger role in the rotation as well. He has scored 10 points or more in nine of his last 10 games. Miller could be worth a look as well for fantasy managers needing help for Monday's slate.
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards (knee) is available for Monday's game against Dallas after missing six games with right knee inflammation. The 24-year-old averaged 29.0 points, 3.0 threes, 4.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks across his last five while logging 34.4 minutes, making him an automatic start during the fantasy finals. His return should reduce the streaming value of Mike Conley, Bones Hyland, Jaylen Clark and Terrence Shannon Jr., while Julius Randle may lose a bit of offensive burden. Edwards belongs in all active lineups given his top-tier usage and category coverage.
Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Monday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. As expected, Duren will sit out the front end of this back-to-back set due to rest purposes. The expectation is that Duren will return for Tuesday's game, but fantasy managers should check back ahead of that game to confirm. The Pistons are shorthanded right now, so Paul Reed figures to play a big role during Monday's game. When he gets significant playing time, Reed is usually productive, so fantasy managers should be able to trust him as a streaming option here. Ron Holland II and Javonte Green should also see increased roles in the rotation on Monday.
Chicago Bulls forward/center Guerschon Yabusele (ankle) is available to play ahead of Monday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. Yabusele is back in the mix following a one-game absence due to a left ankle injury. He should continue to see a larger role in the rotation with Nick Richards (elbow) still sidelined. He figures to see 20-plus minutes in the rotation with the Bulls shorthanded at the center spot. He's worth a look in deep leagues and as a possible cheap DFS option for Monday's slate.
Phoenix Suns guard Grayson Allen (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Monday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Allen will be held out of the front end of this back-to-back set due to left knee injury management. The expectation is that Allen will return to the court for Tuesday's game against the Orlando Magic. The absence of Allen should mean increased roles for Jordan Goodwin, Ryan Dunn, and Rasheer Fleming. Both Goodwin and Dunn should be worth looking at as possible streaming options or a cheap DFS choice with Allen on the bench.
According to Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site, Atlanta Hawks center Jock Landale (illness) is unavailable for Monday's matchup with the Boston Celtics. The 30-year-old big man will be held out due to an illness. While Landale is sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Onyeka Okongwu (finger) to take on a heavier workload as he is set to return after a one-game absence due to a left index finger sprain.
