Montrell Johnson Jr. Aug 16 5:30pm CT
    Montrell Johnson Jr.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Montrell Johnson Jr. had six carries for 20 yards in a 22-13 loss to the Browns on Thursday. The Eagles didn't run the ball much in general against Cleveland, with only 19 attempts across the whole team. Johnson tied with fellow back Keilan Robinson for most carries for Philadelphia, but managed to outrun him by 11 yards. The entire Philly offense was in shambles in Week 2 of the preseason, with seven drives going for less than five yards. Johnson is listed as the fourth RB on the Eagles depth chart, and the undrafted rookie will struggle to see touches behind more experienced players such as Saquon Barkley and AJ Dillon.

Devon Achane Aug 16 5:20pm CT
    Devon Achane

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane (lower body) is expected to miss some time this preseason after sustaining a soft-tissue injury to his lower body. Head coach Mike McDaniel downplayed concerns, saying he expects Achane to be ready for Week 1 against the Colts. Still, fantasy managers should track updates closely, as soft tissue injuries can linger. Before the setback, Achane was being drafted as an early second-round pick thanks to his explosive speed and big-play upside in Miami's dynamic offense. While his long-term outlook remains positive, his current ADP could dip slightly in upcoming drafts.

Patrick Taylor Aug 16 5:20pm CT
    Patrick Taylor

San Francisco 49ers running back Patrick Taylor Jr. (shoulder) was ruled out after leaving Saturday's preseason game against the Raiders. Taylor is battling with rookie Isaac Guerendo and Jordan James for depth roles behind Christian McCaffrey. The 27-year-old carried 39 times for 183 yards and one touchdown last season and is valued by the staff for his ability to contribute on special teams. While today's setback isn't ideal, Taylor still has a solid chance to make the roster as a depth option. He remains off the fantasy radar outside of deep dynasty formats tied to McCaffrey insurance.

Ainias Smith Aug 16 5:10pm CT
    Ainias Smith

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Ainias Smith caught two passes on two targets for 19 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 22-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns. In a woeful showing for the Eagles passing game as a whole, Smith was the leading receiver for his team with this performance. His highlight play came in a nine-yard scoring catch from a Kyle McCord pass across the middle of the field just before halftime. The second-year wideout didn't get many snaps last year and is currently slotted as the sixth WR on Philly's depth chart. While he was the most productive receiver out there for the Eagles today, that's not saying much. Smith needs to get more involved in the offense before having any fantasy value for this upcoming season.

Kyle McCord Aug 16 4:10pm CT
    Kyle McCord

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kyle McCord completed 8-of-16 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown, and tacked on two rushing yards on a single attempt in Saturday's 22-13 loss to the Browns. Despite the lackluster stat line, McCord was actually Philly's leading passer of the game after relieving Dorian Thompson-Robinson midway through the second quarter. The Eagles offense struggled overall on the day, mustering just 88 yards on that side of the ball. Their longest drive-of 31 yards-resulted in their lone offensive touchdown, which was a nine-yard pass from McCord. The rookie sixth-round draft pick currently sits in the fourth QB spot on the depth chart, and likely won't get much playing time in the 2025 season.

Brock Purdy Aug 16 3:20pm CT
    Brock Purdy

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is expected to play one to two series in the team's preseason opener against the Las Vegas Raiders, making his debut for the 2025 season. The outing will allow Purdy to get game reps and build chemistry with receivers following the offseason departure of star wideout Deebo Samuel. San Francisco's injury woes continue as well, with wide receiver Jauan Jennings (calf) and running backs Isaac Guerendo (shoulder) and rookie Jordan James (finger) all sidelined. Purdy is coming off a 2024 campaign where he threw for 3,864 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

George Kittle Aug 16 3:10pm CT
    George Kittle

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is expected to make his preseason debut in the team's matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. The veteran is entering his ninth professional season at 31 years old after a stellar 2024 campaign in which he hauled in 78 receptions for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns, solidifying his status as one of the league's best tight ends. Kittle, considered a stalwart and the heart of the team, will look to get some valuable reps ahead of the regular season.

Ricky Pearsall Aug 16 3:10pm CT
    Ricky Pearsall

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is set to make his preseason debut after impressing at camp this offseason. The 24-year-old and 2024 first-round pick from Florida missed some early time with a hamstring tweak but is now considered one of the few starters not currently sidelined by injury. Pearsall is entering his second season, looking to build on a rookie campaign that saw him record 31 catches for 400 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games.

Caleb Williams Aug 16 2:40pm CT
    Caleb Williams

ESPN's Courtney Cronin reports that the Chicago Bears are still seeking clarity at the starting left tackle position, responsible for protecting quarterback Caleb Williams' blindside. While some of Williams' rookie mistakes were linked to last season's offensive line play, the unit is expected to improve significantly with the offseason additions of Pro Bowler Joe Thuney and center Drew Dalman. PFF has ranked it as the fourth-best offensive line in the NFL. Despite this, the starting left tackle spot remains an open race between incumbent Braxton Jones, rookies Ozzy Trapilo and Kiran Amegadjie, and former practice squad player Theo Benedet. Head coach Ben Johnson said that while the team hopes to find "the right guy" soon, the competition might extend into the regular season. Jones, a 2022 fifth-round pick, is working to re-establish himself after missing spring workouts due to a fractured ankle, while Benedet has impressed in recent practices, earning first-team reps.

Stefon Diggs Aug 16 2:30pm CT
    Stefon Diggs

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs (knee) is inactive for the team's second preseason game against the Vikings on Saturday. The veteran wideout avoided the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list in training camp as he continues to recover from a torn ACL he suffered last October. Diggs, who will turn 32 in November, is entering his 11th professional season after a 2024 campaign with the Houston Texans that saw him post 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns before his season-ending injury. He'll look to continue his comeback in the coming weeks and, barring any setbacks, he should be ready for Week 1.

Tyler Shough Aug 16 2:10pm CT
    Tyler Shough

New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore announced rookie Tyler Shough will start Sunday's preseason matchup against the Jaguars. Shough and Spencer Rattler are locked in one of the league's closest quarterback battles, but Shough may be gaining the edge after leading last week's lone touchdown drive, a 54-yard strike to Mason Tipton. The rookie has the arm talent and supporting weapons to make noise if he secures the job. While he's off the radar in most formats, Shough could emerge as a sneaky QB2 in deeper leagues should he win the starting role.

    From RotoBaller

Andy Dalton Aug 16 2:00pm CT
    Andy Dalton

Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton (elbow) exited Saturday's preseason matchup with Houston and will not return. The 37-year-old veteran served as Bryce Young's backup last season and is expected to remain in that role for 2025. Dalton provides Carolina with experience and insurance should Young go down, but his 7-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio from 2024 underscores his limited fantasy value. Even if pressed into action, Dalton would be a low-upside option, keeping him off the radar in all fantasy formats.

    From RotoBaller

Tyler Goodson Aug 16 2:00pm CT
    Tyler Goodson

Indianapolis Colts running back Tyler Goodson (elbow) left Saturday's preseason matchup with Green Bay and will not return. The 24-year-old has carved out a role on special teams while contributing 240 rushing yards on 45 career carries. Entering 2025, Goodson is competing with rookie DJ Giddens for the backup role behind Jonathan Taylor. With Giddens impressing in camp and Goodson now sidelined, his fantasy outlook takes a hit. Unless he secures the No. 2 role, Goodson should be avoided in fantasy drafts outside of the deepest formats.

    From RotoBaller

Marcus Mariota Aug 16 1:50pm CT
    Marcus Mariota

Washington Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota (lower leg) will not play in Monday's preseason matchup with Cincinnati, as head coach Dan Quinn is resting several veterans. Mariota, entering his 11th NFL season, is locked in as the backup behind Jayden Daniels. While the veteran brings mobility and experience, he has no standalone fantasy value. Should Daniels miss time, however, Mariota would be a priority free-agent pickup thanks to his rushing upside. For now, fantasy managers can safely leave him off draft boards.

    From RotoBaller

Jalen Coker Aug 16 1:50pm CT
    Jalen Coker

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jalen Coker (illness) will not play in Saturday's preseason matchup against the Houston Texans. The second-year wideout posted 32 catches for 478 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie but faces tougher competition for snaps this year. With rookie Tetairoa McMillan entering the fold and Xavier Legette already locked in as a starter, Coker will need to maximize his preseason reps to secure a role in Carolina's rotation. For now, he's off the fantasy radar outside of the deepest formats, but his development will be worth monitoring.

    From RotoBaller

Zach Ertz Aug 16 1:40pm CT
    Zach Ertz

Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz will sit out Monday's preseason matchup with the Bengals. While he's not listed on the injury report, the team is expected to rest the 33-year-old veteran as a precaution. Ertz has secured the starting role and should remain a steady option for quarterback Jayden Daniels this season. The veteran played all 17 games last year, his first full campaign since 2021. Ertz projects as a low-end TE2 in fantasy and is unlikely to be drafted outside of deeper formats, but he remains a reliable security blanket in Washington's offense.

MarShawn Lloyd Aug 16 1:20pm CT
    MarShawn Lloyd

Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (groin) is expected to make his preseason debut Sunday against the Colts. The 2024 rookie appeared in just one game before suffering an ankle injury and later required an emergency appendectomy that ended his season. Lloyd enters 2025 healthy and projects as the primary change-of-pace option behind starter Josh Jacobs. For fantasy purposes, Lloyd is an intriguing handcuff with upside, particularly in deeper formats. If Jacobs were to miss time, Lloyd's explosiveness and versatility could give him immediate flex appeal.

    From RotoBaller

Josh Jacobs Aug 16 1:00pm CT
    Josh Jacobs

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs will not play in Saturday's second preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts, according to Packers beat writer Mike Spofford. Jacobs will take a seat after playing just one offensive snap in the preseason opener last week against the New York Jets. Most of the team's key starters won't feature this weekend, including quarterback Jordan Love (thumb) and receivers Jayden Reed (knee), Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Romeo Doubs (back). In his first year in Green Bay in 2024, Jacobs topped 1,000 rushing yards for the fourth time in his six NFL seasons and scored a career-high 15 rushing touchdowns on 301 carries. Jacobs should again be the workhorse in the Packers' backfield this year, but fantasy managers should expect TD regression, making him more of a low-end RB1 target in fantasy.

    C.J. Stroud Aug 16 12:40pm CT
    C.J. Stroud

The Houston Texans will play several starters on Saturday in their second preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, including quarterback C.J. Stroud, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. Wide receiver Nico Collins will also get a few series on offense with Stroud this weekend, while running back Dameon Pierce will be held out. This will be Stroud's first preseason action this summer after he sat out of the opener last week against the Minnesota Vikings. The 23-year-old took a step back in 2024 in his sophomore season, throwing for 3,727 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while being sacked 52 times in 17 regular-season starts. Stroud showed in his rookie campaign that he can put up numbers, but a bounce-back in 2025 will depend on whether his offensive line can protect him. Treat him as a low-end QB2 in fantasy with upside.

    From RotoBaller

Jalen Hurts Aug 16 12:00pm CT
    Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is not expected to play in the team's second preseason game on Saturday against the Cleveland Browns, according to Tim McManus of ESPN. Tanner McKee also isn't expected to suit up, paving the way for Dorian Thompson-Robinson to make his first start of the preseason. Kyle McCord should also see reps under center. Hurts also sat out last week's preseason opener, so his last chance to play in the preseason will come next Friday against the New York Jets. The 27-year-old didn't crack 3,000 passing yards in 2024 for the first time as a starter, but it didn't help that he sat out two games due to injury. The Eagles relied more on the ground with running back Saquon Barkley tearing it up, but Hurts still scored double-digit touchdowns on the ground for the fourth straight year. For his rushing TD prowess alone, he should be considered a top-five fantasy QB.
