Chris Godwin Mar 6 12:00am ET
    Chris Godwin

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler writes that if Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent wide receiver Chris Godwin makes it to free agency, don't be surprised if the New England Patriots get involved. It's no secret that the Patriots are looking to upgrade their receiving corps with a bona fide No. 1 wideout this offseason, and after the Cincinnati Bengals placed the franchise tag on wideout Tee Higgins, Godwin would be by far and away the top available pass-catcher on the open market. However, Tampa has made Godwin a priority, and the feeling around the NFL is that they will make him a Buc for the rest of his career. It wasn't financially feasible for the Bucs to use the franchise tag on Godwin for a third straight season, but they may look to lock him up before he becomes available to other teams. The 29-year-old was on his way to a career year in 2024 alongside Mike Evans before suffering a season-ending ankle injury in mid-October.

Mike Gesicki Mar 5 11:50pm ET
    Mike Gesicki

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler writes that the Cincinnati Bengals were happy with impending free-agent tight end Mike Gesicki last year and would like to re-sign him, even though they are also trying to keep all three star players in receivers Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and defensive end Trey Hendrickson on long-term deals. Teams are projecting that the tight end position could max out at $8 million per year on the free-agent market this offseason. Gesicki ended up being Cincy's third leading receiver in 2024 behind Chase and Higgins, catching 65 of his 83 targets for 665 receiving yards, although he only was able to find the end zone twice in 17 games played. Although the Bengals also have Drew Sample and Erick All Jr. -- Tanner Hudson is also a free agent -- re-signing in Cincy would be the most ideal situation for Gesicki's fantasy value in 2025.

Durham Smythe Mar 5 11:40pm ET
    Durham Smythe

The Chicago Bears are targeting free-agent tight end Durham Smythe, sources tell ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. This one makes sense on multiple levels after the Miami Dolphins released Smythe last month. The Bears also cut veteran tight end Gerald Everett last month, and veteran Marcedes Lewis and Stephen Carlson are both set to be unrestricted free agents next week. Chicago is definitely in the market for depth at the position behind starter Cole Kmet this offseason, and Smythe overlapped with new Bears head coach Ben Johnson in Miami in 2018. The 29-year-old former fourth-rounder in 2018 out of Notre Dame had 132 catches, 1,228 yards and three touchdowns on 175 targets in seven seasons in Miami. Smythe took a back seat to Jonnu Smith last year and finished with a 9-53-0 line in 17 games. If he were to land in Chicago, he wouldn't have much fantasy appeal unless Kmet were to miss time with an injury.

Chase Young Mar 5 11:40pm ET
    Chase Young

Teams that ESPN's Jeremy Fowler talked to at last week's NFL Combine are putting New Orleans Saints impending free-agent defensive end Chase Young high on the pecking order in the free-agent pass-rush market. Although Young functioned as a backup in 2024 with the Saints, the former second overall pick is still only 25 years old and is completely healthy now after he dealt with a neck injury last offseason. If he's fully healthy in 2025, Young could have a breakout season, which is why the Saints are expected to be in play to re-sign him. Despite not being an every-down player last year, Young was productive and finished with 31 tackles (21 solo), 5.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, a career-high 21 QB hits and a forced fumble in 17 games played. While he may never live up to his draft pedigree in the NFL, Young could be a key situational pass-rusher in 2025 wherever he lands.

Christian Gonzalez Mar 5 10:50pm ET
    Christian Gonzalez

Exclusive-rights free-agent cornerback Alex Austin signed his tender offer on Wednesday to return to the New England Patriots, sources tell ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss. The 6-foot-1, 191-pounder is entering his third NFL season in 2025 after he was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the seventh round (252nd overall) in 2023 out of Oregon State. The 23-year-old defensive back played for the both the Houston Texans and Patriots in his first year in the NFL in 2023 before seeing action in nine games (three starts) last year and recording only nine tackles (eight solo) and five pass breakups. Austin looked better towards the end of the 2024 campaign and is expected to be among the group of cornerbacks that will be competing to start opposite of Christian Gonzalez in training camp this summer. He will be a restricted free agent in 2026.

Russell Wilson Mar 5 10:40pm ET
    Russell Wilson

A source told The Associated Press' Rob Maaddi that a reunion between Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent quarterback Russell Wilson and new Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll is unlikely. The Steelers are looking to re-sign one of Wilson or free-agent QB Justin Fields, but all indications so far are that their preference is to retain the younger Fields. The 36-year-old Wilson initially gave the Steelers a spark when he took over as the starter in Pittsburgh last year for Fields, but he collapsed down the stretch and is no longer the QB he once was in Seattle with Carroll. If Wilson doesn't return to the Steelers, his most likely landing spots could be either the New York Giants or New York Jets as they potentially look for a veteran bridge starter for a year or two. Wilson started 11 games in 2024 and threw for 2,482 yards while throwing 16 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Ernest Jones Mar 5 10:40pm ET
    Ernest Jones

The Seattle Times' Bob Condotta reports that Seattle Seahawks impending free-agent middle linebacker Ernest Jones IV (knee) had knee surgery shortly after the end of the 2024 regular season, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation. The surgery was a clean-up of his knee that isn't viewed as overly serious, and Jones could be ready for football activities as early as June, if not sooner. Because interested teams will likely want to put Jones through a physical, it could draw out his free-agent process and give Seattle more time to negotiate to re-sign him. The 25-year-old had 94 tackles (48 solo), half a sack, one interception and a forced fumble in 10 starts (100% of the snaps) after Seattle acquired him in a trade with the Titans despite battling through his knee injury for most of the year. Jones helped improve Seattle's defense immensely after he was brought in, so expect the Seahawks to make a strong effort to retain him.

    From RotoBaller

Joey Bosa Mar 5 10:30pm ET
    Joey Bosa

The Los Angeles Chargers announced on Wednesday that they have released five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Joey Bosa. The Chargers decided Bosa's $36.47 million salary cap hit in 2025 wasn't justified for a declining pass-rusher that played in only 28 games over the last three seasons due to various injuries. By releasing him, the Bolts will only take on $11.11 in dead money. The 29-year-old former third overall selection in 2016 out of Ohio State played in 14 games (nine starts) in 2024 and finished with just 22 tackles (17 solo), five sacks, five tackles for loss, 13 QB hits and two forced fumbles. He hasn't had a double-digit-sack season since 2021. Bosa will have a market in free agency, but fantasy managers in IDP formats should be passing in 2025 given his inability to stay on the field regularly in recent seasons.

    From RotoBaller

Sean McVay Mar 5 9:10pm ET
    Sean McVay

The Los Angeles Rams released cornerback Tre'Vius Tomlinson (undisclosed) on Wednesday, and he will now go on waivers. Tomlinson's agent, Kevin Conner, said it was "a mutual decision to give Tre a fresh start. We would like to thank Les Snead and Sean McVay for working collaboratively with us to make this happen." The Rams drafted the 25-year-old defensive back in the sixth round (182nd overall) in 2023 out of TCU, and he had only 13 tackles (11 solo) in 15 games played (no starts) in his rookie campaign. Tomlinson was on Injured Reserve for all of last season with an undisclosed injury and will now look to latch on with another team for the 2025 season if he clears waivers. He mostly served on special teams for the Rams in his lone season in the NFL in 2023.

    From RotoBaller

Cooper Kupp Mar 5 9:00pm ET
    Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead hasn't completely closed the door on wide receiver Cooper Kupp returning in 2025, but like head coach Sean McVay, he said it's unlikely. "There is a scenario, but when you get into probabilities that would be the least likely. I don't want to tell you 'no' today and then next week he's a Ram. You see what we're trying to do. We're working to try to find a partner and a next chapter for Cooper and ourselves," Snead said. The 31-year-old Kupp is due $29.7 million in the final two years of his deal, so to facilitate a trade, the Rams are likely going to have to eat a large chunk of that cost. If it's looking unlikely for a trade, L.A. could straight up release him as well. After winning the NFL's receiving Triple Crown in 2021, Kupp hasn't played more than 12 games in a season due to injuries. He could still have plenty of fantasy appeal on a different team, but his 2025 fantasy value will depend on where he lands.

    From RotoBaller

Tank Dell Mar 5 8:50pm ET
    Tank Dell

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (knee) is scheduled to have a second surgery on his knee on Wednesday to fix the torn ACL in his left knee. Dell 's first surgery on Jan. 15 was to address the dislocated kneecap that he suffered in the Dec. 21 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. the 25-year-old also suffered damage to his meniscus and tore his LCL and MCL. Because of the severity of the injury, there's no guarantee that Dell will be able to return in 2025, although he's reportedly headed in the right direction so far. Even when Dell is able to return, whenever that may be, it would be wise to expect him to have lost a step or two. After season-ending injuries to both Dell and Stefon Diggs (knee) in 2024, Nico Collins took over as the clear No. 1 wideout in Houston and was money for fantasy managers. In 14 games in his second season before his injury in 2024, Dell had a 51-667-3 line after scoring seven TDs in his rookie season.

    From RotoBaller

Bradley Chubb Mar 5 8:40pm ET
    Bradley Chubb

The Miami Dolphins and two-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher Bradley Chubb (knee) agreed on a contract restructure on Wednesday to reduce his base salary to stay with the team after missing all of last season due to a torn ACL in addition to damage to his meniscus and patellar tendon, sources tell FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. Chubb is fully recovered now and can still earn his full $21 million compensation through playing-time and sack incentives in 2025. The Dolphins are hoping a fully healthy Chubb can boost their pass rush again in 2025, although fantasy managers in IDP formats should be hesitant with him coming off a major knee injury. In his first full year in Miami in 2023 before injuring his knee, Chubb had a career-high 73 tackles (45 solo), 11 sacks (one off his career high), 11 tackles for loss, 22 QB hits, a league-high six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 16 regular-season starts.

    From RotoBaller

Sam Darnold Mar 5 6:30pm ET
    Sam Darnold

ESPN's Turron Davenport and Jeremy Fowler write that the Tennessee Titans will have some interest if quarterback Sam Darnold reaches free agency next week, but only at the right price -- in the $30 million per year range, according to a team source. And if the Titans were to sign a veteran QB like Darnold in free agency, they could still draft Miami's Cam Ward or Colorado's Shedeur Sanders in the first round of this year's draft. The Titans were enamored by Ward when they talked to him at the NFL Combine last week, and many believe he'd be their top choice if they don't trade out of the top overall pick. Former second-rounder Will Levis, who struggled in his opportunity as the starter last year, will get an opportunity to compete for the job with whomever they bring in. Adding a QB in free agency would only increase the odds of Tennessee trading out of the top spot for more draft capital this year and in years to come.

    From RotoBaller

Cam Ward Mar 5 6:10pm ET
    Cam Ward

University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward is the consensus No. 1 QB in this year's draft class, by a comfortable margin, according to some. However, Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders' pocket-passing ability is appreciated and will make for an easy transition to the next level, which means he could be a slightly better option for the Tennessee Titans at No. 1 overall, according to multiple scouts. But the same scouts think that the Titans' three primary options will be Ward, Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter and trading out of the top spot. ESPN's Turron Davenport and Jeremy Fowler report that the majority of league personnel surveyed think that the Titans prefer to trade back. Both the Giants (No. 3 overall) and Jets (No. 7) reportedly have interest in moving up, but it remains to be seen how aggressive they'll be in a class that lacks top-end signal-callers. Gaining more draft capital could prove to be very attractive for Tennessee as they rebuild.

    From RotoBaller

    D.K. Metcalf Mar 5 5:30pm ET
    D.K. Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf officially requested a trade on Wednesday, and the Los Angeles Chargers could be a team to watch, sources tell FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. The Chargers were the one team that quietly but aggressively pursued Metcalf in trade talks, only to be rebuffed by Seattle. But that was before Metcalf actually requested a trade, and the Bolts remain in the receiver market this offseason. The Green Bay Packers are another team to watch closely as teams angle to trade for the 27-year-old wideout, especially since Christian Watson (knee) is expected to miss at least half of the 2025 season. By Metcalf's standards, his 66-992-5 line last year was a disappointment as he took a back seat to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Metcalf would be more attractive from a fantasy perspective in Green Bay, but either way, he'd be the unquestioned No. 1 wideout, which wasn't the case in Seattle in 2024.

    From RotoBaller

Zack Baun Mar 5 5:20pm ET
    Zack Baun

The Philadelphia Eagles re-signed All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun to a three-year, $51 million deal on Wednesday that includes $34 million guaranteed at signing and an extra $1.5 million in incentives and escalators, sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter. After breaking out in his first year in Philly in 2024 and helping them win their second Super Bowl title, Baun becomes one of the highest-paid linebackers in football. The 28-year-old didn't work out for the New Orleans Saints after they took him in the third round in 2020, but he was a gold mine for Philly and fantasy managers in IDP formats in 2024 after he was moved inside and accumulated 151 tackles (93 solo), 3.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, five QB hits, an interception, four pass breakups, five forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 16 regular-season starts. You'll have to pay a high price in IDP leagues this fall to roster him in 2025.

    From RotoBaller

Dak Prescott Mar 5 3:30pm ET
    Dak Prescott

The Dallas Cowboys restructured quarterback Dak Prescott's contract on Wednesday that will open up $36.6 million in salary cap space in 2025, and it comes just one day after the team restructured star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb's contract. After the restructures for both Prescott and Lamb, the Cowboys have freed up $56.6 million in cap space in advance of a likely big-time contract extension for star pass-rusher Micah Parsons this offseason. It remains to be seen how aggressive the Cowboys, who did next to nothing in free agency a year ago, will get in free agency in 2025. The 31-year-old Prescott had a career year in 2023 before playing in just eight games last year due to a season-ending torn hamstring that required surgery in November. Prescott is on track in his recovery and should be ready for the start of the 2025 regular season, where he'll be more of a low-end QB1 asset in fantasy.

    From RotoBaller

Maxx Crosby Mar 5 3:20pm ET
    Maxx Crosby

The Las Vegas Raiders signed All-Pro defensive end Maxx Crosby to a new three-year, $106.5 million contract extension on Wednesday, sources tell The Athletic's Tashan Reed. The deal includes $91.5 million guaranteed. Crosby was already under contract with the Raiders through the 2026 season, but his previous deal had no guaranteed money left. The new deal makes the four-time Pro Bowler the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, although that probably won't last for long this offseason. The high-motor defensive end has developed into one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL since he was taken in the fourth round back in 2019 by the Raiders. Crosby has a whopping 59.5 sacks (tied for fifth-most) since entering the league. Although his 2024 season was cut short by an ankle injury, Crosby will be an elite defensive lineman in IDP fantasy formats this fall.

    From RotoBaller

    D.K. Metcalf Mar 5 1:30pm ET
    D.K. Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has requested a trade, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The Seahawks have agreed to explore trade options. The 27-year-old was a second-round pick by Seattle in 2019 and has compiled 438 receptions for 6,324 yards and 48 touchdowns across 97 career games. After catching 90 passes in 2022, Metcalf has fallen under 70 receptions in each of the last two seasons. With Jaxon Smith-Njigba developing into a No. 1 wide receiver, Metcalf could be on his way out of the organization. Rumors have swirled surrounding Metcalf and the Green Bay Packers, but if he's truly available via trade, there should be no shortage of organizations interested. The Seahawks are also releasing veteran wideout, Tyler Lockett, so expect wide receiver to be a significant need if Metcalf is dealt. Wherever Metcalf lands, he'll be firmly on the fantasy football radar.

    From RotoBaller

Tyler Lockett Mar 5 1:00pm ET
    Tyler Lockett

The Seattle Seahawks are releasing longtime wide receiver Tyler Lockett, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The 32-year-old was selected by Seattle in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft and racked up 661 receptions for 8,594 yards and 61 touchdowns across 161 career games in 10 seasons. Lockett has played in 15 or more games in every season of his career and has three All-Pro nods as a return specialist. Seattle opts to move on rather than pay his $17 million salary for this season, including a $5.3 million roster bonus that would have been due on March 16. While Lockett is past his prime as a consistent 1,000-yard receiver, there will likely be teams interested in his services, especially teams with young quarterbacks.
