Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson found the end zone to put the first points on the board for the 49ers in their 30-23 victory over the Chargers on Sunday. The 30-year-old veteran reeled in a 22-yard pass from quarterback Tanner Mordecai to open up the second quarter of the preseason finale. Robinson finishes the preseason with seven receptions for 94 yards and one touchdown. Robinson will start his tenth NFL season serving a three-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy in the offseason. When he returns to action, he will be in the mix as San Francisco's third wide receiver behind Jauan Jennings (calf) and Ricky Pearsall, at least until Brandon Aiyuk (knee) can take the field. Robinson may eventually prove himself to be a worthy flex streamer, but fantasy managers can avoid him in their upcoming drafts.
From RotoBaller
Quarterback Tanner Mordecai (leg) split time with Carter Bradley (leg) under center in the 49ers' 30-23 win over the Chargers on Saturday. Mordecai didn't get the start but turned in a superior line, going 10-for-13 for 103 yards and a touchdown in his time on the field. The 25-year-old looked solid until he came up limping on a failed QB sneak in the fourth quarter, leading to a turnover on downs on the next play when he struggled to simply complete the handoff to running back Ke'shawn Vaughn. The 49ers are committed to Brock Purdy (to the tune of a $265 million contract signed in May) and brought in Mac Jones to serve as his direct backup. Mordecai, who was waived and re-signed by the Niners twice during the preseason, will be lucky to survive the cuts necessary for the final 53-man roster to take shape.
From RotoBaller
Wide receiver Terique Owens contributed to the 49ers' 30-23 win over the Chargers on Saturday with a 22-yard touchdown reception. It was his only catch of the game and just his second of the preseason. Owens, son of former 49er and five-time All-Pro Terrell Owens, was signed by the team as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2024 but was injured in the preseason and, after recovering, spent the season on the practice squad. The 25-year-old has been buried on the preseason depth chart, and his prospects worsened with the acquisition of Skyy Moore earlier this week. Even with the injuries to some of the other players in San Francisco's wide receiver room, it would be a surprise if Owens sticks around after the team finalizes its 53-man roster on August 26.
From RotoBaller
Running back Jeff Wilson Jr. scored a touchdown for the 49ers in their 30-23 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday. It was the second consecutive week that the veteran back found the end zone. Wilson also led the team in carries and rushing yards, toting the rock 11 times for 41 yards on the ground. With Christian McCaffrey as the team's unquestioned lead back and Brian Robinson Jr. joining the 49ers via trade on August 21, Wilson is jockeying for position at the back end of the depth chart more than anything else. His odds for making the final 53-man roster may be aided by the fact that Isaac Guerendo (shoulder) was favoring the injured shoulder that kept him out of the Niners' first two preseason games. Wherever Wilson settles in on the roster, he will not be a fantasy asset in the immediate future.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz noted via the broadcast of the team's preseason finale with the San Francisco 49ers that he's hopeful running back Najee Harris (eye) will be ready to go for Week 1. "Najee's doing great, going through all the medical processes," said Hortiz. "But he's on track, and I think he should be able to go, hopefully in Week 1." This is an interesting development, as LA has primarily taken a vow of silence this summer regarding Harris and the resulting eye injury from his fireworks mishap. The Alabama product returned to the field after the July 4 incident just two weeks ago and has only worked off to the side with trainers. If Harris does suit up for Week 1, it's unclear in what capacity that will be, as the actual severity of his injury is unknown. With backfield mate Omarion Hampton's ADP skyrocketing, fantasy managers may want to exercise caution in drafting the rookie at his elevated draft price, particularly with the veteran potentially on the brink of returning. It's a situation that bears monitoring over the next 11 days or so.

Dynasty | Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon had 43 yards on eight carries in the Dolphins preseason finale. Dynasty Analysis: Gordon has looked the part all off-season and put a nice little bow on things today. It seems as if he has a roster spot locked up, especially after Miami lost Alexander Mattison for the season. While no threat to De'Von Achane, Gordon could be pushing a newly-injured Jaylen Wright for RB2 duties for the fish and looks like a good back-end roster stash.
Dynasty | Jaylen Wright is considered "week-to-week" with a leg injury. Dynasty Analysis: Wright didn't suit up on Saturday and opened the door for Ollie Gordon to showcase his abilities. Now in real danger of missing regular season action, Wright needs to get back in the swing of things quickly to reclaim RB2 duties behind De'Von Achane. His dynasty ADP is starting to slip a touch.
Per San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, wide receiver Jauan Jennings (calf) is expected to be ready for the team's Week 1 road tilt with their division-rival Seattle Seahawks. "I expect him to be back, he should be back from it," said Shanahan. "But you never know with a calf," he'd add ominously. Jennings has dealt with a nagging calf injury since the spring that's held him out of the majority of camp. Shanahan's wording doesn't give fantasy managers any extra solace amid the 28-year-old's contract extension disputes, but this is the first word of a timetable for his return, so that's at least mildly encouraging. Jennings will have an excellent chance to build on his breakout 2024 campaign if he's healthy, as the 49ers' wide receiving corps is alarmingly thin. If he's not, fellow wideout Ricky Pearsall, tight end George Kittle, and running back Christian McCaffrey would stand to benefit the most from a volume standpoint. Skyy Moore figures to operate as the team's third WR in that case.
From RotoBaller
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell (wrist) exited Saturday's preseason finale against the Arizona Cardinals with an apparent wrist injury, according to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He'll end his day completing 3-of-4 passes for 36 yards. O'Connell came into the game in relief of starting QB Geno Smith after the latter finished one series. The former participated in two possessions of his own, giving way to rookie teammate Cam Miller midway through the second quarter. It's unclear how the Purdue product picked up the injury, but he did take a sack -- and lose a fumble -- on the drive he entered the game. O'Connell is likely heading for further testing, though any time missed would thrust Miller into a default backup role as he's the only other quarterback on the roster.
From RotoBaller
Washington Commanders tight end Colson Yankoff finished with two targets and one reception for 52 yards in Washington's final preseason game against the Ravens. Yankoff had a spectacular catch and run as he hauled in a pass up the seam, bounced off a defensive back, and showcased his speed with a 35-yard sprint after the catch. The 2024 undrafted free agent from UCLA is an exceptional athlete with a 9.56 Relative Athletic Score out of a possible 10. He's drawn consistent positive reviews out of Washington training camp for his versatility and impact on special teams. The team's top three tight ends are pretty set with Zach Ertz, John Bates, and Ben Sinnott, but signs point to Yankoff being kept as a fourth as well. If Ertz were to miss any time, Yankoff could be one to see opportunity in the receiving tight end role if Sinnott hasn't earned it.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills running back Frank Gore Jr. led the Bills in yards from scrimmage for the third straight week in a 23-19 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday. Gore amassed 61 total yards (32 rushing, 29 receiving) on 10 carries and two catches, and he scored his lone touchdown of the preseason on a one-yard run in the first quarter. In all, the hard-running 23-year-old piled up 104 yards on the ground on 23 attempts and hauled in 11 catches for another 109 yards in three preseason contests. Even though Gore stood out in Buffalo's exhibition games, he doesn't have a clear path to a roster spot with James Cook, Ray Davis, and Ty Johnson ahead of him on the depth chart. Odds are that the former Southern Miss standout will either wind up on the Bills' practice squad for the second year in a row or join another team via waivers before the season. He made a compelling case that he's an NFL-caliber back during the preseason.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Tyrell Shavers finished with the team's only touchdown reception in a 23-19 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday. With the Bills leading 7-3 late in the second quarter, Shavers made a spectacular one-handed catch in the end zone for an 11-yard score. That was one of two grabs for Shavers, who totaled 24 yards on three targets. Shavers' impact went beyond the box score, as he also drew a pair of defensive holding penalties that led to first downs for the Bills. The former undrafted free agent from San Diego State, who has been fighting for a place near the back of the Bills' receiver depth chart this summer, made his presence felt in all three of the team's exhibition games. Shavers led the Bills with 120 yards on six receptions in the preseason, and now he's left to hope that production will help him earn a roster spot.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Elijah Moore earned four targets from quarterback Shane Buechele in a 23-19 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday, but he was unable to do much with them. While Moore did haul in three passes, he totaled just eight yards and will wrap up his preseason with four catches (eight targets) for 13 yards. The former New York Jet and Cleveland Brown joined the Bills on a one-year deal in free agency and is expected to earn a roster spot, but he isn't necessarily a stone-cold lock. Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Joshua Palmer are the only Buffalo receivers who are guaranteed to make the team, leaving Moore grouped with several others (Curtis Samuel, Tyrell Shavers, Kristian Wilkerson, Laviska Shenault Jr., and KJ Hamler among them) fighting for two or three jobs. Except for Samuel (illness), who's also reportedly on the bubble and didn't play Saturday because of an illness, Moore has a more proven track record than the rest of the WRs competing for roles. That could help give him the edge in the competition.
From RotoBaller
Washington Commanders wide receiver Luke McCaffrey racked up five receptions for 23 yards in a 30-3 loss against Baltimore in the team's final preseason game. McCaffrey rounded out the preseason with his most productive outing, catching multiple balls underneath and generating some yards after the catch. He was also used as a blocker on the punt return team, which speaks to his special-teams value but hardly signals trust in him as an offensive contributor. It hasn't been the most encouraging training camp for the second-year wideout, as he's yet to emerge with star receiver Terry McLaurin not practicing along with Noah Brown. He looks to be firmly behind those two, Deebo Samuel and Jaylin Lane, in the pecking order for consistent routes.
From RotoBaller
According to Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, running back De'Von Achane hasn't had any setbacks regarding his recovery efforts. McDaniel added that he "looks forward" to getting Achane back at practice in the weeks heading into the opener versus the Indianapolis Colts. Jaylen Wright (leg) is considered "week-to-week," so fantasy managers may not see him on the field on September 7. Fortunately, it appears Achane has a good chance of playing. The 23-year-old finished the 2024 campaign with 907 yards off 203 carries. He also had 78 catches for 592 yards while totaling 12 touchdowns. If Achane is good to suit up against Indianapolis, he's a must-start in any fantasy format. If he's not cleared to play, Wright, assuming he's healthy, and Ollie Gordon II, who had eight touches for 43 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Jaguars, are the favorites to see more work.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills quarterback Shane Buechele turned in the team's best passing performance of the preseason in a 23-19 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday. The 27-year-old demonstrated pinpoint accuracy throughout the night, completing 25 of his 30 attempts for 278 yards and a touchdown. He also used his mobility to his advantage and added another 20 yards on five rushes. Buechele played the entire game with the Bills' top three QBs - Josh Allen, Mitchell Trubisky, and Mike White - on the sideline. Trubisky and White have spent the summer battling for the No. 2 job, a role Buechele stands little to no chance of winning. His best bet to stay in the organization for a third straight year may be via the practice squad. Buechele was on Buffalo's practice squad in 2023, and he spent last year on Injured Reserve after suffering a neck injury in the preseason.
From RotoBaller
Washington Commanders running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. rushed for 34 yards on five carries in the final preseason game against the Ravens. Rodriguez started the game and consistently picked up big chunks of yards. The 24-year-old finished the preseason averaging nearly seven yards per carry, with 17 rushes for 118 yards. Rodriguez fits the role of a hammer and short-yardage back that can get the tough yards, but also had gaudy production in the SEC at Kentucky. He averaged over 100 rushing yards per game in both of his last two seasons. Additionally, he's showing improved burst and explosiveness in camp this year, saying that he's already hit 20 MPH more times this year than all of last year, according to Hayley Salvatore of Commanders.com. Brian Robinson is now officially dealt to San Francisco, and Rodriguez is set to be in the mix for early down touches in the Washington backfield. Touchdowns will be the path to fantasy value for Rodriguez in what could be a murky backfield.
From RotoBaller
According to Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, running back Jaylen Wright (leg) continues to receive evaluations after exiting practice on Thursday. He's considered "week-to-week." The Dolphins' backfield isn't the healthiest group in the National Football League, with De'Von Achane (calf) still not practicing. It's unknown how things will look heading into the Week 1 opener versus the Indianapolis Colts. However, if Wright and Achane aren't healthy enough to suit up, Ollie Gordon II and Mike Boone could be in line for more touches. Gordon had 43 yards off eight carries in Saturday's preseason win over the Jaguars. While Boone wasn't as productive, amassing 27 yards off seven touches, he at least found the end zone. With that in mind, Gordon may be the safest insurance policy for fantasy managers if Achane and Wright can't give it a go on September 7, at least in terms of workload. Still, that doesn't mean he'll be a reliable fantasy producer. Fortunately, Week 1 is a few weeks away, so there is time for Achane and Wright to come off the injury report.
From RotoBaller
Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Hartman completed 12 of 17 passes for 114 yards and two interceptions in a 30-3 loss against the Ravens. Hartman also took two sacks for seven yards while playing the whole first half. One of the interceptions was an unfortunate batted ball, but the other was a late and weak throw where the defender easily undercut it. The Notre Dame product struggled again in the final game of the preseason. He completed only 53.3 percent of his passes while throwing four interceptions to no touchdowns across the three games. It remains to be seen if Washington will opt to to keep three quarterbacks on the roster, and if they did, it seems veteran Josh Johnson would be the choice. Both would be options for the practice squad regardless, but Hartman's lackluster camp and preseason makes it unlikely for him to make the final roster.
From RotoBaller
Dynasty | Seahawks quarterback Jalen Milroe completed 13-of-24 passes for 148 yards, with one touchdown, 31 rushing yards and two lost fumbles in Seattle's final preseason game. Dynasty Analysis: Any dreams dynasty managers had of Milroe somehow unseating Sam Darnold early this season had a bucket of cold water thrown on them today as Milroe really struggled. The two lost fumbles were brutal as he Milroe lost one on a sack and the other on a fourth down sneak. While he made some plays later in the game, Milroe clearly has a ways to go and while he remains a dynasty stash, his time is clearly not now.
