Cincinnati Bengals tight ends Mike Gesicki (hamstring) and Drew Sample (undisclosed) are considered day-to-day and could play in the team's preseason finale on Saturday against the Indianapolis Colts if they are needed, according to The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr. We'd be surprised if Gesicki actually played this weekend, but he should be just fine for the Week 1 regular-season opener against the division-rival Cleveland Browns in the first week of September. Noah Fant could take some looks away from Gesicki in two-tight end sets in 2025, but the full expectation is that Gesicki will remain the team's No. 1 pass-catcher at the position. The 29-year-old had 65 catches for 665 yards and only two touchdowns in 17 games in his first year in Cincinnati and should be viewed as a low-end TE2 target in an offense with a elite 1-2 receiver punch in Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
From RotoBaller
Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said that the team's starters will not play in the preseason finale on Saturday against the Indianapolis Colts. Burrow and the high-octane Bengals offense looked just fine in the first two preseason games, with Burrow throwing for three touchdowns on five of his drives. The offense got off to a slow start early last year before finally clicking and being one of the most dangerous units by year's end. It looks like the 28-year-old signal-caller and Cincy's offense could already be in midseason form, which is a scary proposition for opposing defenses. Burrow will be a must-start QB1 in Week 1 of the regular season versus the division-rival Cleveland Browns. He does not have the rushing upside of Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson, but Burrow is just a tier below and is ranked at RotoBaller as the QB5 going into 2025.

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (foot) left training camp practice on Wednesday because his foot was stepped on, according to a team spokesman. Jackson is expected to be fine. It was initially reported that Jackson appeared to injure his hand/wrist. The two-time MVP will be ready for the start of the regular season and will be one of the first signal-callers off the board in fantasy drafts. The 28-year-old took the next step as a passer in 2024, throwing for a career-high 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns and only four interceptions on 474 pass attempts over 17 regular-season starts. He added 915 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground on 139 rushing attempts. The Ravens offense proved last year that both Jackson and running back Derrick Henry can eat on the ground. Jackson is the QB2 in RotoBaller's fantasy rankings.
From RotoBaller
Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi called tight end Evan Engram an "elite receiver." The Broncos have been searching for an elite pass-catching tight end for a while now, and Engram could be that guy in 2025 in his first year with the team. The 30-year-old former first-rounder by the New York Giants in 2017 out of Mississippi played in only nine games due to a shoulder injury last year, but he had a career-high 963 receiving yards on 114 receptions in a career year for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2023. Engram has developed chemistry with second-year quarterback Bo Nix this summer and could be the young signal-caller's No. 2 target behind receiver Courtland Sutton. Not only should Engram see more usage in Denver thi year, but he could also be more of a red-zone target, which has been an issue for his fantasy upside since his rookie season.

Dynasty | The Bears have signed quarterback Tyson Bagent to a contract extension. Dynasty Analysis: Official terms weren't disclosed but it seems Bagent will receive $10 million in the deal and can earn up to $16 million with incentives. It's a nice sum of money for a player Chicago hopes never plays a down during his contract. Instead, they've clearly secured the backup for Caleb Williams should be be injured or fail to live up to expectations. As for Bagent, he has some value in 2QB leagues but only as a back-end roster stash.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (hand, wrist) left Wednesday's training camp practice early with what appeared to be a right-wrist/hand injury, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN. Jackson was knocked down around 90 minutes into practice and stayed for a few plays before heading into the team's facilities. It's unclear if the 28-year-old hit his hand on another player's helmet, but we will certainly bring you updates on the two-time MVP's status going forward. Jackson's dual-threat abilities under center make him one of the most dangerous signal-callers in the league, so Baltimore's offense would take a major hit if this turns out to be an injury that sidelines him going into the regular season. If Jackson misses time, former Dallas Cowboys QB Cooper Rush would be forced into starting duties for the Ravens.

Dynasty | The agent for Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson says trust is questionable between Richardson and Indianapolis. Dynasty Analysis: Sounds about right. Daniel Jones has unseated Richardson as the starting quarterback and the Colts are on record saying they don't know if he has a future with the team. This is a complicated situation as the Colts would likely be happy keeping Richardson as a backup on his rookie deal before moving on from him, especially with the history of injuries from Jones. They also need to be careful about keeping a player who could become toxic to their locker room. Odds are Richardson stays on for the year, but you can bet the Colts are listening to any trade offers they may get. Meanwhile, Richardson's ADP is in a freefall.
The New England Patriots have been open to trading safety Kyle Dugger, who has seen a reduced role during training camp, sources told FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. Dugger is still viewed as a talented and impactful player, and there are several teams where he'd be a much better scheme fit in the secondary. His contract will complicate any potential deal, though, and a source said that the Patriots would "likely need to eat money just to make it a conversation." The 29-year-old former second-rounder (37th overall) in 2020 out of Lenoir-Rhyne has had at least 78 combined tackles in each of the last four years, but he graded out as one of the worst coverage safeties in the league in 2024 and has been demoted to the second-team defense in New England this year under new head coach Mike Vrabel. Dugger could return to fantasy relevance in IDP leagues if he's traded to a team where he'll be a starter again.

New England Patriots wide receivers Kyle Williams (undisclosed), Efton Chism III (ankle, foot) and Kendrick Bourne (leg) have all missed training camp practice the last two days and are unlikely to play in the preseason finale on Thursday night against the New York Giants, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN. The same applies to receiver Ja'Lynn Polk (arm, shoulder). Williams, a fifth-rounder this year, should be a lock to make the final 53-man roster, although the 22-year-old pass-catcher probably will find it hard to carve out consistent targets early in his rookie season as long as Stefon Diggs (knee), DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins are healthy. Chism, 23, has also put himself in good position with a strong training camp to make the regular-season roster. However, he is more of a dynasty/keeper stash in fantasy leagues.

ESPN's Brady Henderson writes that all indications are that Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet is "going to have a significant role in the Seahawks' backfield this season." Head coach Mike Macdonald said the team needs to preserve Kenneth Walker III, but they also need to "get him more work than he's gotten in order to be ready to play in a new offense." The Seahawks have not said that the RB1 role is up for grabs this year, but Walker continues to battle lower-body injuries, and Charbonnet continues to impress. Henderson thinks that suggests the backfield "could be more of a timeshare than a typical starter-backup arrangement." Walker has struggled to stay on the field, while Charbonnet hasn't missed a day. Due to durability issues, Walker has become a risky RB2 in fantasy, while is an intriguing RB3/flex upside pick in upcoming fantasy drafts.

Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports that Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle, foot) could begin the 2025 season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, which would mean he'd miss at least the first four games. Mixon has not practiced at all during training camp this summer and hasn't even been seen working off the side on a rehab field. The 29-year-old former second-rounder by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2017 out of Oklahoma had a solid first year in Houston in 2024, rushing for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns on 245 carries over 14 regular-season starts, adding 36 catches for 309 yards and another TD. He can do it all, but it's looking more likely that he won't be ready for Week 1. If Mixon is unavailable for the start of the regular season, the Texans could go with a committee backfield involving Nick Chubb, Dameon Pierce and rookie Woody Marks.
From RotoBaller
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (oblique) remains out of training camp practice on Wednesday and is unlikely to return to the field until the regular season, according to Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald. Hill has barely been on the field since suffering an oblique injury in early August. There has been no indication that the 31-year-old speedster is in danger of missing Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, but fantasy managers have to be at least a little bit concerned about the Cheetah, especially with reports swirling that his chemistry with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hasn't been great. The eight-time Pro Bowler still had 959 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 81 catches in 2024 in his third year with Miami, but it was his fewest receiving yards since 2019. He dealt with a wrist issue all year and has slipped to a low-end WR1/high-end WR2 in RotoBaller's 2025 rankings.

The Chicago Bears are signing backup quarterback Tyson Bagent to a two-year, $10 million contract extension on Wednesday with a maximum value of $16 million with incentives, according to Bagent's representation. Bagent is now tied to Chicago through the 2027 season. The 25-year-old entered training camp competing with veteran Case Keenum (elbow) for the backup QB job behind starter Carson Williams, but with the extension and with Keenum also banged up, it's likely Bagent will open the 2025 regular season a th primary backup. Bagent went undrafted before making his NFL debut in 2023 for the Bears, playing in five games (four starts) and throwing for 859 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions on 143 pass attempts. He only saw action in four games in 2024 and completed both of his pass attempts for 11 yards.

The Houston Texans announced on Tuesday that they released running back J.J. Taylor and wide receiver Xavier Johnson and signed wide receivers Cornell Powell and Juwann Winfree in corresponing moves, according to DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN. Taylor didn't do enough to impress the Texans coaching staff during training camp and the preseason and will now look to catch on with another RB-needy team before the start of the 2025 regular season in early September. The 27-year-old had 10 touches for 29 yards in Houston's two preseason contests. Last year with the Texans, Taylor played in only five games and carried the ball 10 times for 44 yards and caught two passes for no gain. In his four NFL seasons (three with New England), he has only 62 carries for 200 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games played (no starts).

The Buffalo Bills announced on Tuesday that they placed running back Darrynton Evans (hamstring) on Injured Reserve and also waived cornerback Te'Cory Couch and wide receiver Kaden Prather. In corresponding moves, they signed running back Jarveon Howard and wide receiver Grant DuBose. Evans will miss the entire 2025 season after he injured his hamstring during training camp practice last week. The 27-year-old was hoping to make the Bills' 53-man roster this summer as depth in the RB room after he played in only five games with the Chicago Bears last year, carrying the ball three times for three yards. The former third-round pick (93rd overall) by the Tennessee Titans in 2020 out of Appalachian State has only 65 career carries for 249 yards and one touchdown in 24 games (no starts) over his five NFL seasons.
From RotoBaller
The Miami Dolphins have activated recently acquired tight end Darren Waller from the physically unable to perform list. The Dolphins traded a 2026 6th-round pick to the New York Giants in July for Waller and a conditional 7th. Waller came out of retirement to join the Dolphins after Miami traded incumbent tight end Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Waller turns 33 in September, and he has been out of football for over a year, last seeing game action with the Giants in the 2023 season. Should the Dolphins' offense operate anything like it did last season, there will be ample opportunity for Waller to eventually work the short-to-intermediate area of the field where Smith saw the majority of his 109 targets, good enough for 4th amongst tight ends. While Waller's game was always at its best when his trademark athleticism was used to stretch the field, it remains to be seen just how much juice he has left. However, a safety valve role for Tua Tagovailoa could create enough of a floor to keep Waller fantasy relevant one more time.
From RotoBaller
The San Francisco 49ers have signed journeyman quarterback Nate Sudfeld to a one-year deal, with the terms of the deal undisclosed. Sudfeld was originally a 6th-round draft pick of the Washington Commanders in 2016 and has seen stops with the Eagles, 49ers, and Lions. Sudfeld was with the 49ers in 2021 when he beat out Brock Purdy for the No. 3 quarterback spot, but he has yet to start a game in his seven-year NFL career. His last appearance in a game was in 2022 with Detroit. With the 49ers moving running back Patrick Taylor Jr. to season-ending IR on Wednesday, they had a roster spot to fill, but Sudfeld sits fifth on the team's quarterback depth chart and is unlikely to make the team's 53-man roster.
From RotoBaller
Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting quarterback Baker Mayfield will not play in the team's final preseason game against the Bills. Instead, the Buccaneers will lean on Teddy Bridgewater and Kyle Trask to lead the offense in the team's final tune-up. After losing wide receiver Jalen McMillan (neck) to injury in a gruesome-looking fall in their latest preseason game, it is unlikely the team will play any of their starters. Mayfield finished 2024 as a top-five fantasy quarterback in his lone year with Liam Coen as offensive coordinator. Josh Grizzard steps into the coordinator role this year, and the expectation is that the Buccaneers should once again field a high-powered unit. Currently, RotoBaller's QB8, there is some concern that Mayfield is being drafted near his ceiling. With McMillan expected to start the season on injured reserve and veteran Chris Godwin (ankle) likely headed for the PUP list, it wouldn't be unexpected to see the Buccaneers' offense start slowly before eventually rounding into form.
From RotoBaller
With trade talks surrounding Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. growing louder by the day, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport believes the fourth-year back has played his last down with Washington. Robinson was not with the team for their Monday night preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and it was Chris Rodriguez Jr. and preseason darling Jacory Croskey-Merritt who handled Robinson's usual early-down work. Rapoport believes the team may be willing to eat a portion of Robinson's remaining salary to facilitate a deal. Should Robinson play elsewhere in 2025, Rodriguez and Croskey-Merritt will likely continue to split early down carries to start the year. Still, Croskey-Merritt's explosiveness makes him the obvious upside play and a good bet to seize the job outright. Forgotten in all of this, veteran Austin Ekeler should maintain his passing-down work, a role he quietly thrived in last year before a concussion cut his season short.
From RotoBaller
The San Francisco 49ers have placed veteran running back Patrick Taylor Jr. (shoulder) on the season-ending injured reserve list. Taylor suffered a dislocated shoulder in the team's second preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, and he joins the growing list of 49ers running backs struck by injury. While presumed backup Isaac Guerendo (shoulder) was able to return to practice on Tuesday after missing several weeks with a shoulder injury of his own, the team has already lost Ameer Abdullah (ribs) for the season. Rookie Jordan James has already missed a few weeks due to a broken finger. After trading Jordan Mason to the Minnesota Vikings, the 49ers' running back depth has been seriously tested already, which is the last thing the team needs in their efforts to keep All-Pro Christian McCaffrey healthy. Jeff Wilson Jr. and Ke'Shawn Vaughn will likely see the majority of work in the team's final preseason game. If he can remain healthy, McCaffrey once more enters the year as perhaps the biggest difference maker in fantasy football. Still, given his checkered injury history, Guerendo is one of the league's most important backups to roster.
