Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel (hamstring) is expected to start Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to the team. With the Browns battling injuries under center, the rookie third-round pick from Oregon will take the reins in a meeting with the defending Super Bowl champions. Expected Week 1 starter Joe Flacco is resting, while Kenny Pickett (hamstring) is limited with a hamstring injury, and fifth-round rookie Shedeur Sanders (oblique) suffered an oblique strain earlier this week. Sanders turned heads in a preseason-opening 30-10 win over the Carolina Panthers last week. Gabriel didn't play in that game as a result of a hamstring injury, but he'll have his chance to stand out on Saturday. He and veteran Tyler Huntley are expected to be the only available Cleveland QBs.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Chris Blair led the team in receiving yards, thanks mostly to a 52-yard catch-and-run down the sideline on an Easton Stick pass in the third quarter of Friday's 23-20 loss to the Titans. In all, the 27-year-old caught three of his five targets for a total of 78 yards. It's the second consecutiveweek with a touchdown catch after hauling in three passes for 54 yards in the team's 17-10 preseason loss to the Lions last week. The wide receiver corps for the Falcons is pretty much set, with Drake London, Darnell Mooney, and Ray-Ray McCloud the top three, along with fourth wideout KhaDarel Hodge, who has been with the team since 2022. Blair is battling veteran DJ Chark and a host of others for what is probably just one spot available on the roster, although his performance the last twoweeks should help give him a leg up on most of them.
From RotoBaller
Washington Commanders second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels and the team's starters are slated to play "a few series" against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, head coach Dan Quinn said. The Commanders are taking a different approach after resting 30 players, including Daniels, in a 48-18 preseason-opening loss to the New England Patriots on Aug. 8. Washington will continue to go without No. 1 wide receiver Terry McLaurin (ankle), however. Even though McLaurin came off the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list on Saturday amid a contract dispute, he's still not ready to suit up as he recovers from an ankle injury.
From RotoBaller
The Jacksonville Jaguars will play their starters on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, head coach Liam Coen announced. It's unclear how much playing time quarterback Trevor Lawrence & Co. will receive. Lawrence completed 6-of-7 passes for 43 yards in a preseason-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. Running backs Tank Bigsby and Bhayshul Tuten tied for the team lead in carries (six) and yards (24) during the opener. They've been in a battle for touches in training camp with Travis Etienne Jr., who's listed as a co-starter with Bigsby on the team's unofficial depth chart. Meanwhile, at wide receiver, two-way star rookie Travis Hunter (upper body) may sit out with an upper-body injury. Coen hasn't said whether the Heisman Trophy winner and second overall pick will play.
From RotoBaller
Cincinnati Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki (hamstring) will miss Monday's game against the Washington Commanders, head coach Zac Taylor said. Gesicki, who has been battling a hamstring injury, also sat out last week's preseason opener versus the Philadelphia Eagles. The Bengals don't seem to regard it as a serious injury, however, so it seems likely that Gesicki will be ready for their Week 1 matchup with the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 7. The 29-year-old added another weapon to the Bengals' passing attack in 2024, his first season with the team, as he caught 65 of 83 targets for 665 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Bengals brought in some veteran insurance behind Gesicki in the form of Noah Fant, a recent free-agent pickup.
From RotoBaller
Cincinnati Bengals tight end Noah Fant will play in Monday's second preseason game against the Washington Commanders, head coach Zac Taylor told the media. It'll be Fant's preseason debut and first in-game action with the Bengals, who picked him up in free agency on July 31. The 27-year-old is a proven veteran who has amassed 288 catches and 15 touchdowns over six seasons between Denver and Seattle, but he figures to serve as Cincinnati's No. 2 tight end. Starter Mike Gesicki (hamstring) has been dealing with a hamstring injury and won't play Monday, though that injury is unlikely to keep him out of regular-season action. If it does, Fant's a good fallback option to have.
From RotoBaller
The Cincinnati Bengals' starters will see a good amount of action in Monday's second preseason game against the Washington Commanders, according to head coach Zac Taylor. The Bengals played their starters for several series in last week's 34-27 preseason-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Quarterback Joe Burrow was sharp in completing 9-of-10 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns, while No. 1 wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase caught four balls for 77 yards and a score, and running back Chase Brown had five carries for 23 yards. The Bengals are trying to get into a rhythm before the regular season begins to avoid another slow start. They've opened 0-2 or worse three times in a row, and their failure to come out of the gates quickly has contributed to back-to-back seasons without a playoff berth.
From RotoBaller
Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani recorded five carries for 49 yards in Seattle's preseason win over the Chiefs on Friday night. Holani is currently slotted as the team's No. 3 running back behind Zach Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker III. He did nothing to give up ground to running back Damien Martinez for the No. 3 spot despite Martinez having a solid game himself. Holani was an undrafted free agent in 2024, spending much of the season as a special teams player. He has played well throughout the preseason, having amassed 110 rushing yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries. The Seahawks may have found themselves a gem of a solid depth piece at running back in Holani. He will have one more chance to cement himself as the team's No. 3 back in preseason Week 3 against the Packers next Saturday.
From RotoBaller
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet looked like he was in midseason form on Friday against the Chiefs. Charbonnet rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown on just five carries. Although the preseason is not always predictive of the regular season, Charbonnet's performance is encouraging for fantasy managers who believe he has a chance to split time with starting running back Kenneth Walker III. Charbonnet was a fantasy gem in 2024 when Walker missed time. Walker has had trouble staying healthy throughout his career, making Charbonnet one of the most valuable handcuffs in the league at worst. If Friday's game is any indication, the Seahawks' running scheme should be substantially improved in 2025 under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Improvements in the running scheme will benefit Charbonnet greatly this season.
From RotoBaller
Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo caught two passes for 19 yards in Friday's preseason win over the Kansas City Chiefs. The second-round rookie has now caught four passes for 33 yards in two preseason games this season. He has displayed the athleticism that made him a second-round selection in the first place. The learning curve at tight end is difficult in the NFL, but reports on Arroyo have been solid throughout the summer, and he has played well this preseason. With veteran tight end Noah Fant out of the way following his recent release, Arroyo has a chance to rise the ranks in this offense in a hurry. Additionally, the Seahawks will likely employ two tight end sets relatively often. As such, Arroyo should see a lot of run with second-year tight end AJ Barner. Arroyo is a deep sleeper for 2025 and a great bet in dynasty leagues.
From RotoBaller
Seattle Seahawks seventh-round rookie running back Damien Martinez received 11 carries in Friday's preseason win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Martinez turned those carries into 50 yards and a touchdown. He added two receptions for 14 yards. Martinez is fighting for Seattle's No. 3 running back spot with George Holani, who had a solid game in his own right. Martinez's performance was encouraging after a quiet debut last weekend in which he only recorded 10 yards on six carries. The Seahawks' running game as a whole was humming on Friday night. The success of the running game bodes well for the potential of this team to succeed in 2025.
From RotoBaller
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught one pass for seven yards in Friday's preseason win over the Kansas City Chiefs. The Seahawks' starting offense got its first run of the preseason on the team's opening drive. Smith-Njigba was lined up all over the field and caught his lone pass out of the backfield. It appears that offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's play-calling will be more creative than what the Seahawks had in 2024. With Smith-Njigba now entrenched as Seattle's No. 1 wide receiver, it was encouraging to see him moved around the field to create preferred matchups and manufacture touches. While JSN's time on the field on Friday was short, fantasy managers can come away from this game with more confidence to draft him.
From RotoBaller
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold led a touchdown drive on Seattle's opening drive during Friday's preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Darnold completed all four of his passes for 34 yards on a drive that ended in a touchdown run by running back Zach Charbonnet. The play calling provided Darnold with easy completions in an obvious effort to get him comfortable at game speed. Any quarterback can complete short passes. The question will be how much the Seahawks cut it loose downfield. However, Darnold was under center for much of the drive and was on the move for several of his throws. That type of play calling will cater to Darnold's strengths and take pressure off a questionable offensive line. If the Seahawks can play great defense and call plays similarly to Friday, Darnold will have a great chance to assuage the doubters this season.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Falcons third-string quarterbackEaston Stick garnered most of the playing time under center in Friday's 23-20 loss to the Titans. The 29-year-old completed 19 of 32 attempts (59.4 percent) for 173 yards and a touchdown as well as an interception, while adding two rushes for 14 yards. The touchdown was a nice-looking 52-yard catch-and-run down the sideline to wide receiver Chris Blair. It was a solid follow-up performance to last week when he went 15-for-18 for 149 yards and a touchdown, and the seventh-year pro appears to be the frontrunner for the third quarterback spot as he battles it out with 25-year-old rookie Emory Jones, who completed two of his five attempts for 16 yards in the game. Without a starting job, though, neither warrants any fantasy attention.
From RotoBaller
The Washington Commanders have activated wide receiver Terry McLaurin (ankle) from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list on Saturday. While this transaction does not suggest a contract agreement is near, it does open the door for the star wideout to return to practice. Through training camp, the Ohio State product has been participating in a "hold-in" while seeking a contract extension. McLaurin formally requested a trade as well. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, as this transaction could allow McLaurin to participate in light football activities, which could allow both sides to come to a contract agreement. Last season, McLaurin enjoyed a career year, catching 13 touchdowns and tallying 1,096 yards on 82 receptions. If he were to agree to a contract with the team, fantasy managers should feel confident viewing him as a high-end WR2 playing alongside superstar quarterback Jayden Daniels.
From RotoBaller
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Gardner Minshew completed seven of nine passes (78%) for 70 yards and a touchdown in the 16-33 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Minshew found Robert Tonyan in the back of the endzone on a rollout for an easy score. It was a nice sign to see for Chiefs fans, knowing they have a capable backup behind Patrick Mahomes. That said, Minshew will not have any fantasy value this season unless Mahomes gets injured.
From RotoBaller
Kansas City Chiefs running back Carson Steele led the backfield in the 16-33 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Steele paced the team with seven carries but only managed 22 yards, good for 3.1 yards per carry. He also brought in one catch for a loss of a yard. Despite having the most carries, Steele tied with fellow backup Brashard Smith in rushing yards. Steele figures to be the third-string running back at best and could still be competing for that role. Steele is best left undrafted heading into the 2025 season.
From RotoBaller
Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco only had one touch in the 16-33 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but he looked good on that play. Pacheco corralled a third-down reception and turned it into a 22-yard gain. Pacheco reached 17 miles per hour on that run, a good sign for his health. His work in the preseason has remained limited, which bodes well for his value in the regular season. After missing time due to injury last season, Pacheco is set to begin the year fully healthy and carry the load as Kansas City's lead back.
From RotoBaller
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Robert Tonyan played a big role in the 16-33 preseason loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Tonyan had five catches for 41 yards and a touchdown in Friday's contest. It was the second week in a row that Tonyan led the Chiefs in receiving, which might mean that there is a role for him behind Travis Kelce as a backup tight end. The 31-year-old has been a red-zone threat in the past, so maybe he will be utilized in that area of the field in the regular season. Despite his production in the preseason, Tonyan's actual role is still undefined and should not be considered a fantasy asset during draft season.
From RotoBaller
According to NFL Media's Tom Pelissero, the NFL proposed a double-digit suspension for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice. Of course, this proposal received some push back, with Rice's agents and attorney arguing against it. The NFLPA also isn't in favor of the lengthy suspension. A hearing is currently set for September 30, which would potentially allow the wideout to play in a few games to begin the 2025 campaign. However, per Pelissero, a settlement could be reached before then, meaning his suspension might start immediately. Without question, Rice is considered one of the most talented receivers in the National Football League. He began his career by finding the end zone seven times as a rookie. Unfortunately, the 25-year-old was limited to only four contests in 2024 before his season came to an abrupt end due to a knee injury. With a suspension on the horizon, his fantasy stock has taken a hit heading into the season. Still, he is expected to be an elite fantasy option once he's cleared to suit up. While Rice is off the field, Marquise Brown, Travis Kelce, and Xavier Worthy could be in line for more attention from Patrick Mahomes.
