Kyren Williams Aug 6 8:25am CT
    Kyren Williams

Dynasty | The Rams have signed running back Kyren Williams to a contract extension. Dynasty Analysis: And just like that, there goes any idea of some kind of running back competition or Williams bolting via free agency at the end of the season. This will lock him into RB1 status in a more concrete way and he remains a key part of any dynasty team. In addition, this puts a nice little pin in the dynasty balloons of Jarquez Hunter, Ronnie Rivers and Blake Corum, though Hunter looks like the next man up should Williams miss time.

Nate Hobbs Aug 6 8:25am CT
    Nate Hobbs

Green Bay Packers cornerback Nate Hobbs (knee) had knee surgery on Saturday but could still be ready for his Packers debut in Week 1 against the Lions, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. He will miss the preseason, though, after undergoing the procedure to repair a partial meniscus tear. Hobbs played the first four seasons of his career with the Raiders and signed a big four-year deal worth $48 million with the Packers. He missed six games last season and 16 over the last three seasons combined because of ankle injuries, a hand injury, and illness. Injuries were a big part of why the Packers parted ways with star cornerback Jaire Alexander this offseason, and Hobbs is expected to help replace Alexander. While this may not be an injury that impacts his regular-season availability directly, it could be a bad sign if it's the start of a trend.

Courtland Sutton Aug 6 8:20am CT
    Courtland Sutton

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton looks "even better" in camp this season, according to Zac Stevens of The DNVR.com. Broncos offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi noted that Sutton "has been having a really good camp" and that "he looks to me even better than he did last camp." This is an excellent sign for the 29-year-old wideout as he enjoyed a career season in 2024 with rookie Bo Nix under center. After a slow start through the first seven games, where he averaged a modest 39.6 yards per game, Sutton became a league-winner down the stretch. From Weeks 8 through 18 (final 10 games), Sutton averaged a stellar 18.2 PPR points per game with 80.4 receiving yards per game and six total touchdowns. Fantasy managers should continue to view Sutton as a WR2 with upside as he enters the 2025 campaign as the clear top target for Nix.

Matthew Stafford Aug 6 8:13am CT
    Matthew Stafford

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (back) is considered week-to-week after receiving an epidural in an aggravated disc in his back. The team is being cautious but plans for him to be ready for Week 1.

Fantasy Spin: Stafford is being taken, on average, as the 24th quarterback in fantasy drafts, which means he falls to a lot of waiver wires. This back thing is tricky, but it's tough to find 23 QBs better than him in fantasy. Keep an eye on the back situation, and look to scoop and IR him if possible.

Darren Waller Aug 6 8:10am CT
    Darren Waller

Miami Dolphins tight end Darren Waller is about a week away from practicing, according to Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post. The veteran tight end has spent the start of training camp on the PUP list with an undisclosed injury. However, it appears the 32-year-old is nearing a return to the practice field. The Dolphins acquired Waller earlier in the offseason via trade with the Giants. Waller retired from football in June of 2024 but will now fill a vacancy in Miami after Jonnu Smith was shipped to Pittsburgh. Waller's last season in the NFL was in 2023 with the Giants. Across 12 games, he caught 52 passes for 552 yards. While he has dealt with numerous injuries during his career, he has flashed elite upside at times, especially with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders. Given that he will likely operate as the clear TE1 in Miami, he could be worth a look as a late-round TE2 in deeper formats.

Jalen Milroe Aug 6 7:40am CT
    Jalen Milroe

Seattle Seahawks quarterbacks Jalen Milroe and Drew Lock will split the reps in the team's first preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday. Reporters are expecting the two quarterbacks to split half of the game on Thursday as the Seahawks will rest Sam Darnold, along with several other key starters. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is also expected to call several QB runs for Milroe when he's in the game against the Raiders, which makes the rookie an interesting choice for preseason DFS contests. Milroe and Lock are battling in training camp to be the backup to Darnold when the regular season opens. If he were to get on the field in 2025, Milroe would be very interesting from a fantasy perspective thanks to his elite rushing upside.

Will Howard Aug 6 7:30am CT
    Will Howard

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Will Howard fractured a small bone in his throwing hand during practice on Tuesday. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Howard is going for additional testing, but he is not expected to need surgery. Much still hinges on what the additional tests reveal but as of now, Howard is only expected to miss around three weeks with the injury. The rookie quarterback out of Ohio State has been battling with veteran Mason Rudolph to open the season as the backup to Aaron Rodgers.

Cole Kmet Aug 6 7:20am CT
    Cole Kmet

Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet appears to have survived an injury scare after leaving practice early on Tuesday, as Adam Hoge of CHGO reported that Kmet has avoided serious injury. Kmet went down on the practice field on Tuesday and left with a trainer. The Bears have provided no further explanation as to the nature of Kmet's injury, but it appears that it will not prevent him from taking the field in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings. The Bears used a first-round pick to draft Colston Loveland in the 2025 NFL draft, which will severely hamper Kmet's production in the passing attack, leaving him as a mid-range TE3 in fantasy drafts.

Joe Milton III Aug 6 7:20am CT
    Joe Milton III

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton III injured the thumb on his throwing hand during Tuesday's practice and left early. After getting off to a hot start in the practice session, Milton banged his thumb on another player's helmet and made an early exit as a result. When asked about it, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters that Milton's removal was precautionary. While Dallas has not indicated the severity of the injury, it appears that Milton will not miss an extended period of time in training camp. Milton, a sixth-round pick by the New England Patriots in the 2024 draft, turned heads by throwing for 241 yards and one touchdown in a spot start in Week 18 against the Buffalo Bills. He will serve as the backup for the oft-injured Dak Prescott in 2025 and would draw plenty of fantasy interest if Prescott were to miss time in the upcoming season.

Evan Engram Aug 6 7:10am CT
    Evan Engram

Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram continues to impress in his first training camp with his new team. The Broncos signed Engram last offseason after he was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he has wasted little time impressing his new team. Offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said that Engram has "met or exceeded" the high expectations the team had for him when he was signed. "He can run. He can change direction. Willing blocker. He sticks his nose in there. Complete tight end. Guy that's really been showing up in camp," Lombardi told reporters. The Broncos have been looking for a reliable tight end since Sean Payton became head coach and they appear to have found one in Engram. The veteran tight end is set up for a big year and can be confidently drafted as a low-end TE1 in all fantasy formats.

Matthew Stafford Aug 6 6:50am CT
    Matthew Stafford

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (back) has missed most of training camp while dealing with a back issue. While this has caused some concern related to the veteran's availability in Week 1, head coach Sean McVay had positive news on Tuesday. McVay told reporters that Stafford is "feeling good" and "making good progress," while going on to say, "We've been able to kind of increase some things behind the scenes." Stafford is unlikely to see much work throughout the remainder of training camp, but he is likely to be under center when the Rams open the regular season against the Houston Texans. He can be treated as a low-end QB2 from a fantasy perspective.

Roschon Johnson Aug 6 6:40am CT
    Roschon Johnson

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson appears to be carving out a role in new head coach Ben Johnson's offense. According to ESPN.com's Courtney Cronin, Johnson appears to be locked into the short-yardage and goal-line role thus far in training camp while also getting some work on third downs. The Bears' running-back room could become crowded as D'Andre Swift is expected to serve as the lead back, while rookie Kyle Monagai has also drawn praise from Chicago's head coach. Johnson has flashed potential over his first two NFL seasons but has also struggled to stay healthy. He could emerge as a solid target as a late-round dart-throw at the running back position in fantasy drafts.

    Marquez Valdes-Scantling Aug 5 10:43pm CT
    Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Seattle Seahawks WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling has had an 'underwhelming start to camp,' per ESPN's Brady Henderson, who writes that Valdes-Scantling 'will need to start showing that he can still stretch the defense' to hold off a camp challenge from rookie WR Tory Horton. Henderson also points out that since Valdes-Scantling does not play special teams, it could be 'hard to justify' a roster spot if he isn't one of the top three or four receivers.

    From TheHuddle

Mike Gesicki Aug 5 8:43pm CT
    Mike Gesicki

Cincinnati Bengals TE Mike Gesicki (hamstring) will not play in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles after tweaking his hamstring in practice over the weekend.

Fantasy Spin: Gesicki is trying to keep him starting job, as he attempts to hold off the newly-signed Noah Fant. Gesicki was already going to be a TE2 in most fantasy leagues, and having Fant breathing down his neck doesn't help.

    From TheHuddle

Jaydon Blue Aug 5 8:30pm CT
    Jaydon Blue

Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Jaydon Blue will "likely have a role on third down" this year, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. Blue has been one of the most impressive offensive players at training camp this summer for the Cowboys. However, Javonte Williams is finally healthy and is "showing why Denver was so high on him after drafting him in 2021." Additionally, Miles Sanders has looked good, so the expectation is that Williams and Sanders will dominate early-down carries for Dallas, at least early in the 2025 campaign. Fantasy managers in 12-team leagues may not be drafting Blue this fall, but the 21-year-old should be on watch lists, especially in PPR formats. The fifth-rounder has displayed elite speed and pass-catching ability out of the backfield, which has earned him some time with first-team offense in camp.

    From RotoBaller

George Pickens Aug 5 8:20pm CT
    George Pickens

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated writes that it's a good sign of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens in head coach Brian Schottenheimer's offense that the coaches have been able to "move him around to different receiver spots after he was exclusively an X receiver (split end) in Pittsburgh." Pickens and CeeDee Lamb worked out together in Florida in the offseason, and new receivers coach Junior Adams "has had the two working off each other constantly to try and build culture in his room." Things didn't end well for Pickens with the Steelers, but the early signs going into his first year in Dallas are "pretty good." The 24-year-old former second-rounder has had at least 801 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons. He's going to take a back seat to Lamb in this offense, but in what should be a pass-happy scheme, Pickens has lots of upside as a WR3/flex in fantasy in his new home.

KaVontae Turpin Aug 5 8:10pm CT
    KaVontae Turpin

Now entering his fourth year in the NFL, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver KaVontae Turpin has mostly made his mark as a return man. However, the 29-year-old will "be more involved in the offense this year than at any other time over the last three seasons," according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. New head coach Brian Schottenheimer, previously the team's offensive coordinator, is looking to utilize Turpin more as both a receiver and a runner. The 5-foot-9, 153-pounder set career highs in catches (31), targets (52), and yards (420) last season. He also added two receiving touchdowns and carried the ball 16 times for 92 yards. Those aren't exciting numbers, but the Cowboys believe the speedster has the explosiveness to take on a bigger role.

    From RotoBaller

Jordan Whittington Aug 5 8:00pm CT
    Jordan Whittington

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Jordan Whittington flashed as a rookie in 2024 when Puka Nacua went down with an injury. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer writes that Whittington is a "tough, strong special-teamer, and has shown an ability to separate in camp." The Rams' top two receivers will be Nacua and veteran Davante Adams, but Whittington is battling for the WR3 role this summer, with Demarcus Robinson and Tut Atwell being his primary competition. The 24-year-old former sixth-rounder was also a standout at last year's camp, only to catch 22 of 28 targets for 293 yards and no touchdowns in 15 regular-season games (three starts). However, he did have 62 or more yards in each of the three games he had over 30 offensive snaps. Whittington is one to watch for now in standard-sized fantasy leagues, but he could quickly become a priority waiver addition if one of Nacua or Adams gets injured.

Geno Smith Aug 5 7:53pm CT
    Geno Smith

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith and the rest of the starters are expected to play in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 7 against the Seattle Seahawks, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Spin: Smith resurrected his NFL career in Seattle, throwing for 12,226 of his 19,143 career passing yards, while totaling 71 touchdown passes and 35 interceptions. He was extremely accurate, too, throwing for 69.8 percent of better in two of his three seasons. Still, fantasy managers are treating him more as a low-end QB2 in leagues of 12 or more teams in the final rounds on draft day.

    From TheHuddle

Darren Waller Aug 5 7:50pm CT
    Darren Waller

Miami Dolphins tight end Darren Waller will be ready for Week 1, agent Drew Rosenhaus declared. "I don't think there's any doubt that Darren will be ready for the start of the regular season," Rosenhaus told Josh Moser. Waller sat out last season after announcing his retirement, but the Dolphins surprisingly acquired him in a trade with the New York Giants in July. The 32-year-old has since ended his retirement to play for Miami, but he's on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list and working back into game shape. Waller is expected to serve as Miami's No. 1 tight end, replacing the departed Jonnu Smith. The Dolphins heavily relied on Smith last year during an 88-catch, 111-target, eight-touchdown campaign. That could bode well for Waller if he's still capable of serving in a starting role. In 2023, his most recent season, he played in 12 games and caught 52 of 74 targets for 552 yards and a touchdown.
