Week 10 - Recap

By The Commissioner Wed Nov 12 3:58pm CT

Week 10 was the start of the 4th quarter and final three games of the season.  This was the start of the season ending and teams needed to drop their play into another gear to make a push for either the playoffs or the division lead, while still navigating bye weeks and injuries.  There were several teams that sensed the urgency, and this created a bunch of high-scoring and competitive games.  This was a great week of play.  Let’s see the results.

This week’s Game of the Week was Black Water (5-4) vs. The Pug Mafia (5-4).  These two were part of a 3-way tie for the Knuckleheads Division lead.  Black Water was on a 3-game winning streak while The Pug Mafia had lost two of his last three games; although, he did win their first meeting earlier this season.  This matchup was lopsided from the jump.  The Pug Mafia got out to an early lead from an excellent performance from Jonathan Taylor (39) and kept pouring it on after that.  He ended with 6 of 8 starters scoring 10+ points, led by Kyren Williams (17), Drake London (14), and Cameron Dicker (14).  Black Water froze and couldn’t find many points.  The Pug Mafia (6-4) swept their season series after the 105-48 victory over Black Water (5-5).  He now has sole lead in the Knuckleheads Division, after Dart Dynasty (5-5) lost 55-87 to Gatorbait (7-3).  The wily veteran is showing his championship pedigree at the right time.

This week’s most explosive game was Gridiron Guru (4-5) vs. The Faulk Yo’ Couch Ninjas! (7-2).  The Ninjas have been rolling lately, winning five in a row and scoring 100+ points in three of them, and he kept that action going this week.  He had an outstanding week with 7 of 8 starters scoring 10+ points, led by Jonathan Taylor, Devon Achane (36), and Kyren Williams (17).  The Faulk Yo’ Couch Ninjas! (8-2) diced Gridiron Guru (4-6) up, 141-57.

The following were some other high scoring (100+) games this week:

117-54, New Kid on the Block (4-5-1) over Whodat Homeboys (1-9)

117-43, NY KILLERS (4-6) over Clown Baby (4-6)

115-83, The Action Jacksons (8-2) over San Antonio Shockers (4-6)

108-66, Jones Boys (5-5) over Louisianimal Ratchets (4-5-1)

105-55, Gatorbait (7-3) over Dart Dynasty (5-5)

102-49, Dak to the Future (3-7) over REGULATORS (8-2)

There were several competitive games this week, so it didn’t feel right to highlight only one.  These four games were the most competitive this week:

  1. 2 Da Money (3-6) vs. Montgomery $Bills (4-5). This was a lower-end scoring game.  2 Da Money had two players with 10+ points, with Josh Allen (19) and Ladd McConkey (12), while Montgomery $Bills got most of his points from Jahmyr Gibbs (32).  After Sunday, Montgomery $Bills held a 50-43 lead but, 2 Da Money still had a player to go Monday night.  That player, Philadelphia Eagles defense, was only able to generate 5 points, leaving Montgomery $Bills (5-5) with the 50-48 victory over 2 Da Money (3-7).  2 Da Money had two kickers on his roster, and both were on bye this week.  Not making a free agent adjustment likely cost him this match.

  1. Gotham City Enforcer (4-4-1) vs. The Official’s Timeout (4-5). This match started off tight with them having two players in common, with Matthew Stafford (31) and Jaxon Smith-Njigba (14).  The Enforcer had two additional players with 10+ points, with Devon Achane and Amon-Ra St. Brown.  The Official had another 10+ scorer with Breece Hall (16) by the end of Sunday’s games.  The Enforcer held a 96-73 lead going into Monday night but the Official still had to players to go, to his one.  The Enforcer picked up only 5 points from Saquon Barkley.  The Official got big scores from DeVonta Smith (14) and Josh Jacobs (11).  But, it wasn’t enough and the Gotham City Enforcer (5-4-1) locked down the 101-98 win over The Official’s Timeout (4-6).  The Enforcer is now tied for the lead in the Big Finish Division.

  1. 2TRILL Chevy Rider (5-4) vs. 4 the Loot (3-6). This was a competitive match throughout the week’s play.  4 the Loot had three players with 10+ points, led by Cam Little (14), Emeka Egbuka (12), and Josh Jacobs (11).  2TRILL had a few 10+ scorers as well with Kyren Williams, Jameson Williams (12), and Amon-Ra St. Brown.  After the day games, 4 the Loot held a 49-44 lead.  2TRILL picked up another 15 points from the Sunday night game with Justin Herbert (10) and Pittsburgh Steelers (5), taking a 59-49 lead.  Each team had a player going Monday night and 2TRILL gained an additional 5 points from Saquon Barkley, while 4 the Loot received 11 points from Josh Jacobs.  2TRILL Chevy Rider (6-4) held on for the 64-60 victory over 4 the Loot (3-7).

  1. Cooper Road Cougars (4-5) vs. The Dream Killers (5-3-1). The Cougars got caught lacking and forgot to set his starting lineup, leaving him with only four active starters.  Despite that, he got great performances from two of them, TreVeyon Henderson (37) and Chris Olave (20).  The Dream Killers had four starters scoring over 10 points, led by Los Angles Charger (17) and three players with 10 points.  In the end, the Cooper Road Cougars (5-5) caught The Dream Killer (5-4-1) sleeping and pulled out the 62-58 win.

This was an exciting week of fantasy play!  Things continue to get tight as we approach the final weeks of the season.  I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Next week's Game of the Week is Gotham City Enforcers (5-4-1) vs. The Dream Killers (5-4-1).  These two are tied for first place in the Big Finish Division.  A win here would put them in position to lock up the division win.

See you next week!!!
