I will say this, pretty proud of those Roadrunners yesterday, had it not been for 4 injuries in their lines during the game, and some whistle swallowing refs, game would have been even more competitive.....We have a team this year!!! And Bless those boys for that last second garbage time TD....covered my Parlay for the win😁
Agreed James....i got guys in one of my Dynasty leagues that sow signs they are tanking to get him with top pick next year.....might want to pump the brakes...lol
The way I see it:
Was it a good idea to trade Micah? Yes! They need more game affecting players. Committing such a huge percentage of the cap to 3 players is not a recipe for success in the NFL. If they had kept Parsons, no other team would have that much money tied up in only 3 players. Keeping Micah would not have helped their Super Bowl chances.
Was it a bad trade? Double Yes! You don't trade a generational talent for 2 high-20s picks and a player drafted in 2016! When Micah was on the field, the Cowboys were the #1 defense in the NFL in EPA (expected points added per play). Without Micah on the field, they were 31st in the NFL! Expect to see a lot more of the latter going forward. Despite his words, I don't think Jerry had any predetermined plans to trade Micah. He was forced into it. Other teams knew it and took advantage. If he had truly planned to trade Micah, he would have done it before the draft when he was in the driver's seat and could have gotten immediate help to fill the many roster holes.
As far as Micah against the run, he is one player. Dominating edge players force the action away from their side of the field while taking on multiple blockers which SHOULD free up other players to make the play. The Cowboys haven't had enough of those other players to consistently make the plays.
In the end, they're better off for trading him and probably did the best they could given the situation, but they botched this the same as all the others by being undecisive and slow with no clear roster plan.
Regardless...football is fun! Can't wait to get this thing started!
Jerry is smart....everyone knows that the NFL is an offensive league.....Offense brings in the money.....Had he signed Parsons to the reported deal, three players would have been over 50% of cap....insane.....Fans want to see scoring....and the Cowboys are gonna HAVE to put up points now......Cincy the same way.......Cowboys and Bengals in the SB...lol
