OK, one last note tonight. Is anyone interest in joining a playoff league?
I have created a private league modeled after the RTSports Playoff Challenge, which I have been doing for the last five years or so and even won a time or two. It's pretty fun and creates extra interest in the playoff games. It's a little different than our normal rules, but I think it would be too difficult to do an old-fashioned playoff league like we used to do back in the day with a draft and everything.
In this league, you pick 16 players to your roster before the playoffs begin next Saturday and you start 9 of them each week of the playoffs. Rosters don't change the rest of the playoffs, so players get knocked out when their teams lose. The winning teams usually have a few guys left at key spots all the way through the Super Bowl.
You can pick any 16 players you want at any of the positions you want (but you have 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, one Flex, K an D for starters), and it's OK if we all have some of the same players. There is strategy in who you pick and who you start.
Oh, and one big thing, it's not just TDs, there are yardage points, and PPR rules (1 point per catch). The cost of the league is $20. Winnings depends on how many play. If it's just four of us, it might be winner take all. If there's 10 or 12, we'll pay out three spots. I have to send out individual invites so if you want a link to the site to check it out, let me know and you will get an email. If not, no worries.
And congrats Karl on your Toilet Bowl victory or Qmaster after losing the Toilet each of the last two years. If at first you don't succeed ..... Meanwhile, looking back over the last 10 years in the archives, Qmaster has is 0-4 in Toilet Bowls over that time period. I could have gone back further and probably found a Qmaster Toilet victory, but I lost interest. It's there on the site if anybody wants to look into it further.
Looks like the Pink Floyds have clinched at least a tie for the Pick'em title, but the Hand Grenades can still tie for the title if the Steelers win the game tonight, because the Floyds have the Ravens. If the Raven win, Floyds win outright by two, but if Steelers win, it's a tie. There is no tiebreaker. Each team would win $25 if there's a tie.
Happy new year. Here's the financial report for the 2025 season:
10 teams with a $70 entry fee = $700 total pot.
The website fee this year was $80, so $620 left for the total prize fund.
Survivor pool champ (Big Johnsons) wins $50 and Pick'em Pool champ (TBD) wins $50, leaving $520 for the league payouts.
First place (Buffaloes) -- 50 percent, $260
Second place (Daddies) -- 25 percent, $130
Third place (Floyds) -- 15 percent, $78
Scoring champ (Bufaloes) -- 10 percent, $52
Total winnings, $312 for the Buffaloes. The rest as shown. Congrats again Brian!
I am going to send out the winnings, with the bulk coming from the website allocation funds from all those who paid online. The rest will get Venmo or PayPal, however you paid me. And the pick'em money still TBD.
