Happy new year. Here's the financial report for the 2025 season:
10 teams with a $70 entry fee = $700 total pot.
The website fee this year was $80, so $620 left for the total prize fund.
Survivor pool champ (Big Johnsons) wins $50 and Pick'em Pool champ (TBD) wins $50, leaving $520 for the league payouts.
First place (Buffaloes) -- 50 percent, $260
Second place (Daddies) -- 25 percent, $130
Third place (Floyds) -- 15 percent, $78
Scoring champ (Bufaloes) -- 10 percent, $52
Total winnings, $312 for the Buffaloes. The rest as shown. Congrats again Brian!
I am going to send out the winnings, with the bulk coming from the website allocation funds from all those who paid online. The rest will get Venmo or PayPal, however you paid me. And the pick'em money still TBD.
Bijan Robinson's big Monday Night game rallied the Pink Floyds to a comeback 59-57 victory over the Big Johnsons in the third-place game. The Floyds finish in the money for the third straight season after taking second last year and winning the league title in 2023. A rough finish for the Big Johnsons, who were the dominant team much of the season.
As previously reported, the Nickell Buffaloes win the league title with a win over the Maq Daddies in the title game. It's the Buffaloes first title since 2007 and first money finish since 2021 when they took second. The Buffaloes also win the scoring title this year, finishing with an average of 46 points per game, and were 39 points ahead of of the second place Roosters. The scoring title earns the Buffaloes the first pick in next year's draft.
The Daddies in second place finish in the money for the first time since taking third in 2022.
This week we have the Toilet Bowl between the Holy Hand Grenades and QMaster. Both teams have some Toilet Bowl history and I am sure it will produce an exciting contest this season.
Still to be determined is our season-long Pick'em contest, which goes through the final week. The winner will likely either be the Hand Grenades or the Pink Floyds, with the Grenades holding a two-game lead heading into the final week. The winner gets a $50 payout.
We will send out all the prize money to our winners at the conclusion of this week's games.
Thanks for letting us know Karl. Our thoughts are with Sheila and her family.
For all of you who know former Examiner managing/executive editor Sheila Davis, she has moved to Chillicothe to be near her sister Susan and, as you may already know (which I think she posted on her own Facebook), is in hospice care. Her son Connor told Jeff Fox that if you could send her a card, it might lift her spirits, but he told Jeff not to wait too long to do it. If you'd like to send her a card, her address is: Sheila Davis, StoneBridge Senior Living, Room 110, 2601 N. Fair St., Chillicothe, MO 64601. Jeff asked me to give you all a heads up on that. Karl
