Jags coach Liam Coen, 49ers DC Robert Saleh in heated exchange after game

Field Level Media

Previously unbeaten San Francisco's loss to Jacksonville on Sunday included a heated exchange after the game between 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and Jaguars head coach Liam Coen, who had to be separated.

Saleh had raised Coen's ire on Thursday when he remarked about the Jaguars coaches being adept at "legally" stealing opponents' signs, which he framed as a compliment. Coen didn't take it as such and apparently let Saleh know after Jacksonville's 26-21 win over the 49ers in Santa Clara, Calif.

Saleh was restrained by a Niners staff member, and Coen by Jaguars offensive lineman Robert Hainsey, according to multiple reports of the midfield encounter when coaches and players from both teams more typically exchange pleasantries and congratulations.

"Not a big deal," Coen, a first-year head coach whose team is 3-1, told reporters after the game. "I'm just going to keep that between us right now. That's it."

Saleh, a former New York Jets head coach and longtime NFL assistant, was not available to media after the game.

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan, whose squad fell to 3-1, had said on Friday that Saleh was praising the Jaguars' ability to pick up on opponents' signs. He said on Sunday that he didn't see their Sunday meeting.

"I don't think you should be that sensitive about it, but it is what it is," Shanahan said. "I'm not too worried about it."

Shanahan said his organization doesn't care if Saleh's comments upset the Jaguars' coaching staff.

"It has no effect on the game," Shanahan said. "I think Saleh was paying them a big compliment in what they're good at doing. It's not illegal. He said (there is) nothing illegal about it. I think you use the word sign stealing and what the headlines get with those type of words, I think the perception of that becomes wrong."

The origin of the comments goes back to when Saleh was asked on Thursday about the main challenge for the 49ers' defense against the Jaguars.

"They've got, legally, a really advance signal-stealing type of system where they always find a way to put themselves in an advantageous situation," Saleh said Thursday. "They do a great job with it."

Saleh traced Coen's coaching history with Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, and Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski's time coaching under Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell. Both McVay and O'Connell have worked with Shanahan or in his systems.

Player Notes
Tutu Atwell Sep 29 12:20am CT
Tutu Atwell

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tutu Atwell caught one of his two targets during Sunday's Week 4 win over the Indianapolis Colts, delivering an enormous 88-yard touchdown that proved to be the game-winning play. As soon as Atwell got loose, there was no looking back, as he took off for the end zone and gave Los Angeles the victory. While this will show up in game logs as one of the top performances this week, fantasy managers should be cautious about rushing to grab Atwell off the waiver wire. He still has just two catches through four games this year, and his "boom or bust" status typically results in more bust than boom. We need to see a little more consistency from Atwell before discussing him as a fantasy-relevant receiver.

Puka Nacua Sep 29 12:10am CT
Puka Nacua

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua (thumb) told the media that he "got rolled up on one of the run plays" during Sunday's Week 4 win over the Indianapolis Colts. He was taken to the locker room and underwent X-rays, but when those tests came back clean, he returned to the game and played the rest of the contest. He finished on a strong note, wrapping up the victory with 15 targets, 13 catches, 170 yards, and one touchdown. The 24-year-old further solidified himself as the highest-scoring receiver in fantasy football, as he now has 15 more points (PPR) than the next-highest scorer, Amon-Ra St. Brown. Managers will want to monitor updates on Nacua's thumb going forward, but the fact that he was able to finish the game Sunday is a good sign for his status against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football in Week 4.

Jordan Love Sep 29 12:00am CT
Jordan Love

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love completed 31 of 43 pass attempts for 337 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's Week 4 tie with the Dallas Cowboys. He also rushed for 28 yards, took one sack, and lost a fumble. The 26-year-old bounced back from last week's ugly loss against Cleveland and turned in his best fantasy outing of the young season. He spread the ball around well, dispersing four-plus targets to seven different receivers and three-plus catches to six different receivers. Love heads into a bye week before facing off against a very poor Cincinnati Bengals defense in Week 6. He's a low-end fantasy QB1 moving forward.

George Pickens Sep 28 11:50pm CT
George Pickens

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens caught eight of his 11 targets for 134 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's Week 4 tie with the Green Bay Packers. He had one of the better single-game performances for a wide receiver this season and ranks fifth among receivers in fantasy points through four weeks. His increased productivity this week was a direct product of the Cowboys operating without CeeDee Lamb (ankle), who is in the early stages of a multi-week absence. Pickens will remain the top receiver in Dallas for the foreseeable future, which means he should continue to be viewed as a high-end WR2 with WR1 upside. He'll look to overcome a tough matchup against New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner next week.

Dak Prescott Sep 28 11:40pm CT
Dak Prescott

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott completed 31 of 40 passes for 319 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's Week 4 tie with the Green Bay Packers. He also took one sack and added a two-yard rushing touchdown. The veteran took to the national stage and put together his best game of the season. Even with CeeDee Lamb (ankle) sidelined, Prescott was able to distribute the ball to the rest of his receivers, move the offense down the field, and play clean, turnover-free football. He now ranks seventh among quarterbacks in terms of fantasy scoring this season, keeping him in the top-12 conversation for Week 5 against the New York Jets.

Josh Jacobs Sep 28 11:30pm CT
Josh Jacobs

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries during Sunday's Week 4 tie with the Dallas Cowboys. He also caught all four of his targets for an additional 71 receiving yards. Jacobs briefly exited with an injury but was on the field for most of the game, keeping the score close and ultimately helping the Packers get in position to tie the game as overtime ended. He now has the sixth-most fantasy points among running backs and will continue to rank as a fringe RB1 on the other side of Green Bay's bye week.

Cam Skattebo Sep 28 11:28pm CT
Cam Skattebo

Dynasty | Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo had 79 rushing yards, two catches, and 11 receiving yards in a win against the Chargers. Dynasty Analysis: As expected, Skattebo took over as the lead back after Tyrone Tracy was injured last week. He was efficient on the ground and nearly had a touchdown on the day. While the counting stats won't look dominant, he only gave up seven carries to Devin Singletary while having a massive 25 of his own. The opportunity to buy on Skattebo has likely closed.

Puka Nacua Sep 28 11:27pm CT
Puka Nacua

Dynasty | Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua caught 13 passes for 170 yards with one touchdown in a win against Dynasty Analysis: It's starting to look like Nacua's rookie season as he just seems unstoppable. Matthew Stafford threw for 375 tards and three touchdowns on the day and his vintage performance was clearly helped by the dominance of Nacua. While Davante Adams has clearly given him a solid partner, Adams is Robin and Nacua is Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Thor and whoever else you want to put on the top line. He's looking like a candidate to be the overall WR1 this year and any opportunity to buy on him has clearly passed.

Adonai Mitchell Sep 28 11:27pm CT
Adonai Mitchell

Dynasty | Colts receiver Adonai Mitchell had three catches for 96 yards in a loss to the Raiders. Dynasty Analysis: It was a great day from a statistical perspective. However, Mitchell also dropped a would-be touchdown at the one yard line as he celebrated early and was also called for a holding penalty on a Jonathan Taylor touchdown run. In the end, his 12.6 fantasy points mean very little as he likely cost his own team 14 real points on the scoreboard. In short, this was a nightmare for Mitchell. He'll look to bounce back but this was a total mess. He remains a hold in dynasty leagues and not a strong one at the moment.

Patrick Mahomes Sep 28 11:13pm CT
Patrick Mahomes

Dynasty | Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 25-of-37 passes for 270 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in a win against Baltimore. Dynasty Analysis: This was about as vintage a performance as you could ever hope for as Mahomes tossed four touchdowns to four different receivers. Anyone who has stuck with him was clearly rewarded with today's effort but it's hard to say if he can really sustain this moving forward. Still, with Rashee Rice on his way back, this was a huge step forward for Mahomes, who was sitting clearly at the low-end of the QB1 rankings.

Ashton Jeanty Sep 28 11:13pm CT
Ashton Jeanty

Dynasty | Raiders rookie running back Ashton Jeanty rushed for 138 yards with two catches for 17 yards and three touchdowns in a loss to the Bears. Dynasty Analysis: Finally. After three mediocre weeks, Jeanty finally busted out in a big way with a monster week four. After averaging more nearly seven yards per carry and nine yards per catch, Jeanty finally made good on the promise made for dynasty managers when they took him as the 1.01 this year. He's not out of the woods yet, but today's effort likely puts him back on top of Emeka Egbuka as this year's top rookie. If anyone sold low, today likely hurts.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Xavier Worthy Sep 28 11:13pm CT
Xavier Worthy

Dynasty | Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy had 38 rushing yards, five catches and 83 receiving yards in a win against Baltimore. Dynasty Analysis: Well, that should help. Worthy was all over the place on Sunday, making his presence felt in both the running and receiving game. The imminent return of Rashee Rice will likely eat into his touches but Worthy has proven he's a game changer when on the field. We need to see what this offense looks like at full strength but any ADP fall Worthy had will stop after today's perforrmance.

Kareem Hunt Sep 28 11:03pm CT
Kareem Hunt

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt ran 13 times for just 34 yards in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens, while he added a 13-yard reception on his lone target.

Fantasy Spin: Hunt averaged just 2.6 yards per carry, while Isiah Pacheco was good for 5.0 yards per tote. The run game has had tremendous difficulty in Kansas City this season, and Xavier Worthy, a wide receiver, actually led the team in rushing on Sunday. Hunt remains more of a RB4 in most fantasy leagues going into Week 5.

From TheHuddle

Travis Kelce Sep 28 10:53pm CT
Travis Kelce

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce registered five receptions for 48 yards in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens on five targets.

Fantasy Spin: Kelce is good for at least 47 receiving yards in three or his four games. However, he hasn't scored since Week 1, and he hasn't scored north of the equator this season. He remains a low-end TE1 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams, especially in PPR formats. He is working on a three-game streak with four or more receptions. The Chiefs meet the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football in Week 5.

From TheHuddle

JuJu Smith-Schuster Sep 28 10:53pm CT
JuJu Smith-Schuster

Kansas City Chiefs WR JuJu Smith-Schuster registered four receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown on six targets in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Spin: The touchdown was nice, but with Xavier Worthy back, Tyquan Thornton emerging as a dependable option and Hollywood Brown and Travis Kelce in the mix, there are a lot of mouths to feed. Smith-Schuster's fantasy appeal is limited to deeper leagues heading into Week 5 at Jacksonville.

From TheHuddle

Patrick Mahomes Sep 28 10:43pm CT
Patrick Mahomes

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 25-of-37 passes for 270 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens, and he ran four times for five yards.

Fantasy Spin: Mahomes entered the day with just a single TD strike in each of his first three games, and he had a total of five scores (three passing, two rushing) in that span. Is Mahomes back to elite status after one strong game? Well, not quite. He is still more of a low-end QB1 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams, but he still proved he can be very dangerous. He'll look to keep it cooking in Week 5 against the Houston Texans.

From TheHuddle

Christian McCaffrey Sep 28 10:43pm CT
Christian McCaffrey

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey rushed 17 times for 49 yards and caught six passes for 92 yards and a touchdown in a 26-21 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4.

Fantasy Spin: McCaffrey continues to handle a massive workload, and he had at least 19 touches and six receptions in every game this season. At this point, the only concern with McCaffrey is whether or not he can continue to handle such a heavy workload while remaining healthy the entire season.

From TheHuddle

DeAndre Hopkins Sep 28 10:33pm CT
DeAndre Hopkins

Baltimore Ravens WR DeAndre Hopkins went without a reception on just a single target in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Spin: It was a tough game for Nuk against his former team. He'll look to regroup in Week 5 against the Houston Texans, his original NFL club. Despite the ugly stat line, he is worth considering as a WR4 or flex fantasy option in Week 5, but wait to see if Lamar Jackson (hamstring) will be able to go. If it is Cooper Rush instead, that pushes Hopkins to reserve status in most fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dallas Goedert Sep 28 10:30pm CT
Dallas Goedert

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert led the team with only 37 receiving yards on Sunday in the 31-25 win over the hosting Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4, but he found the end zone two times on four catches (four targets). The 30-year-old was tied with running back Saquon Barkley for the team lead in targets in another low-volume passing day for quarterback Jalen Hurts. Goedert had only one catch last week, but it also went for a touchdown, so he now has three scores in the last two games. Volume will probably continue to be a problem for Goedert in an Eagles' passing attack that has been non-existent at times, but his value in the red zone for Philly shouldn't be understated. He scored on a shovel pass and an underhand flip for both of his touchdowns, so it was not conventional, but it counts nonetheless. Goedert should be considered a touchdown-dependent TE1 going into a tough Week 5 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

From RotoBaller

Mark Andrews Sep 28 10:23pm CT
Mark Andrews

Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews registered seven receptions for 30 yards on eight targets in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Spin: The catch total was nice, but it was mostly dinks and dunks, especially once backup Cooper Rush came on, replacing the injured Lamar Jackson (hamstring). If the backup Rush is called upon to start, that actually might work to the benefit of Andrews, who could see more targets on short to intermediate routes.
