Rams expect WR Puka Nacua (rib) to play vs. 49ers

Field Level Media

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is expected to play Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers despite a rib injury, Rams coach Sean McVay said on Wednesday.

Nacua, 24, will be limited at practice on Wednesday, but after his rib imaging came back clean, he should play on Sunday, the coach said. The 49ers (6-3) host the Rams (6-2) in a tight race in the NFC West.

McVay had said after the 34-10 home win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday that Nacua's injury wasn't serious.

"I think he's going to be good. He got his ribs (hurt)," McVay said after the game. "He could have come back in the game, but we kind of had command. Felt like it was the smart thing."

Nacua was injured in the third quarter on a 3-yard rushing play in which he was tackled by Saints linebacker Demario Davis with under six minutes remaining. He went to the locker room to be examined and was initially listed as questionable to return with a chest injury. He returned to the field early in the fourth quarter.

Nacua had seven receptions for 95 yards and one touchdown before exiting.

Nacua missed Los Angeles' previous game against Jacksonville on Oct. 19 due to an ankle injury. The Rams had a bye last week.

Overall, Nacua has 61 receptions on a league-leading 73 targets for 711 yards and three scoring receptions in seven games this season. A Pro Bowl selection as a rookie in 2023, Nacua had 105 and 79 receptions, respectively, in his first two NFL campaigns for a total of 2,476 yards and nine touchdowns.

Dalton Schultz Nov 5 6:03pm CT
Dalton Schultz

Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (knee, shoulder) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Spin: Schultz racked up six receptions for 77 yards on eight targets in Week 9 against the Denver Broncos, and he has five or more receptions in five of the past six games. He is a decent low-end TE1 or top TE2 in PPR fantasy leagues, with lesser appeal in standard play.

Keenan Allen Nov 5 6:03pm CT
Keenan Allen

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Spin: Allen should return to practice in the next day or two and will be available for the Week 10 game. He has been held to under 50 yards in three of his last four games but has been targeted at least five times in every game. He can be a No. 3 receiver or flex option in fantasy leagues.

Ka'imi Fairbairn Nov 5 5:53pm CT
Ka'imi Fairbairn

Houston Texans PK Ka'imi Fairbairn (quadriceps) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 5 due to a right quadriceps injury. He is not expected to play in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, with PK Matthew Wright expected to handle the placeckicking duties.

Fantasy Spin: Fairbairn is one of the better fantasy options among placekickers, so you'll need to make alternate plans if you normally depend upon him. Wright is not a recommended fill-in option, as there are probably plenty of other regulars available off of your waiver wire.

From TheHuddle

Alvin Kamara Nov 5 5:53pm CT
Alvin Kamara

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Spin: Kamara only had 18 total yards in the last game on seven touches and has been held under 10 touches in each of the last two games. He can still be a flex option in fantasy leagues because he has shown he can be productive when he has the ball in his hands.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt Nov 5 5:50pm CT
Jacory Croskey-Merritt

Washington Commanders rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (mouth) was wearing a non-contact jersey on Wednesday and was listed as a limited practice participant after having dental work done, according to John Keim of ESPN. Croskey-Merritt should be available to play on Sunday against the visiting Detroit Lions, but the better question is whether he'll lose any playing time to Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez Jr. after stumbling the last few weeks. The 24-year-old seventh-rounder has been the team's lead back since Austin Ekeler suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in Week 2, but Bill hasn't scored since Oct. 5 and is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry for 157 yards on 51 rushing attempts in the last four games. Expect defenses to load the box more to stop the run against Washington now, with quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) out for the foreseeable future. JCM is trending down as an RB3/flex play heading into this weekend.

Houston DE Denico Autry (knee), DE Will Anderson Jr. (quadriceps), TE Harrison Bryant (shoulder), RB Nick Chubb (foot), PK Ka'imi Fairbairn (quadriceps), LB Christian Harris (shin), OL Tytus Howard (concussion), OG Ed Ingram (knee), S Jalen Pitre (concussion) and QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 5. WR Braxton Berrios (chest) and TE Dalton Schultz (knee, shoulder) were limited, while DE Dylan Horton (knee) and FB Jakob Johnson (hamstring) were full participants.

From TheHuddle

Jonnu Smith Nov 5 5:43pm CT
Jonnu Smith

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jonnu Smith (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Spin: Smith continues to have a limited role in the passing game and has not posted more than 27 yards in any game in 2025. He will see a handful of targets in Week 10 but can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Nick Chubb Nov 5 5:43pm CT
Nick Chubb

Houston Texans RB Nick Chubb (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 5 due to his foot injury.

Fantasy Spin: Let's check back Thursday and Friday to see if Chubb will be able to suit up. He split backfield touches down the middle with Woody Marks last time out against the Denver Broncos. Chubb continues to see double-digit carries, going for 11 or more carries in four of the past five games. However, he has 3.3 yards per carry or fewer in the past three games, and he hasn't scored in a calendar month since Oct. 5. He is best used as a low-end RB3 or flex fantasy option in leagues of 12 or more teams heading into Week 10 in Jacksonville.

Nick Chubb Nov 5 5:30pm CT
Nick Chubb

Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb (foot) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice due to a foot injury, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. The Texans have already ruled out quarterback C.J. Stroud (concussion) for their Week 10 game against the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, and the veteran Chubb could also be in danger of sitting out this weekend unless he returns to practice on Thursday or Friday. If the 29-year-old is limited or out against the Jaguars, rookie Woody Marks would be in line for a bigger workload, while Dare Ogunbowale would likely be elevated to RB2 duties. Chubb has mostly been underwhelming in his first year with the Texans as their primary back, with Joe Mixon (ankle, foot) still out, as he's averaged 3.9 yards per carry for 355 rushing yards and only two rushing scores in eight games.

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (elbow), TE Zach Ertz (rest), S Quan Martin (hamstring), WR Terry McLaurin (quadriceps), LB Von Miller (rest), S Tyler Owens (hamstring) and OT Laremy Tunsil (hamstring, rest) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 5. CB Trey Amos (hip), RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (tooth), DL Eddie Goldman (concussion), DT Jer'Zhan Newton (ankle) and TE Colson Yankoff (hamstring) were each limited, while LB Bobby Wagner (thumb) practiced in full.

D'Andre Swift Nov 5 5:20pm CT
D'Andre Swift

Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift (groin), who was limited in practice on Wednesday, said he plans to play on Sunday in Week 10 versus the visiting New York Giants, according to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times. Swift missed the wild win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9 due to a chronic groin injury. In his absence, rookie Kyle Monangai impressed, taking 26 carries for 176 yards. Head coach Ben Johnson said the Bears were protecting Swift from himself by letting him rest a groin injury that he's been dealing with for the past month. Monangai was also limited in Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury, while Roschon Johnson was limited in his return from a back injury. Swift's RB1 job in Chicago shouldn't be in jeopardy, but if he does return this weekend against New York, he could cede a few more backfield touches to Monangai.

Baker Mayfield Nov 5 5:13pm CT
Baker Mayfield

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield (knee, oblique) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Spin: Mayfield has not had all of his receivers available for most of the season but still ranks 11th in the NFL with 1,919 passing yards. He has cooled off recently with only one touchdown pass in his last two games. He will be facing a good New England Patriots defense this week but can still be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (fibula), RB Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder), LB Haason Reddick (ankle, knee) and LB Markees Watts (hand) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5. OT Luke Goedeke (foot) was limited during practice. LB Lavonte David (knee, rib), OG Luke Haggard (shoulder), QB Baker Mayfield (knee, oblique), CB Zyon McCollum (thumb) and CB Jacob Parrish (oblique) fully participated in practice.

Brandon Aiyuk Nov 5 5:10pm CT
Brandon Aiyuk

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Wednesday that he's "pretty confident" that wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (knee) will play at some point this season, according to David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard. However, the 49ers are still waiting for Aiyuk to "hit certain markers" on GPS speed measurements before opening his 21-day practice window. Once Aiyuk returns to practice, the team will have 21 days to officially activate him from the Physically Unable to Perform list. Despite the optimism, reports on Monday suggested that the 27-year-old former first-rounder wasn't close to a return to practice, so fantasy managers who have been stashing Aiyuk all year shouldn't get their hopes up. Aiyuk suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Week 7 of last year and probably won't be back in games for the 49ers until December.

Aaron Jones Nov 5 5:03pm CT
Aaron Jones

Minnesota Vikings RB Aaron Jones (shoulder, toe) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Spin: Jones was injured in the last game, so fantasy players will need to monitor the situation over the next few days to see if he will be available for the Week 10 game. He was playing well before the injury in Week 9 and can be a No. 2 running back or flex option if he plays this week.
