Week 4 TNF: Seahawks-Cardinals Preview, Props, Prediction

Thu Sep 25 3:38pm ET
Field Level Media

The Seattle Seahawks travel to division rival Arizona on Thursday night, with both teams sitting at 2-1 and seeking to stay close to undefeated San Francisco in the NFC West in the opening game of Week 4.

Both teams' lone loss this season came to the 49ers in games that went down to the wire, so this shapes up as a critical early-season battle to avoid suffering another divisional loss.

ODDS AND TRENDS

The Seahawks, who have won the last seven meetings against the Crdinals, are a consensus 1.5-point favorite and enter with a seven-game winning road streak. That includes a 30-18 win in Glendale, Ariz., last December in a game in which Cardinals quarterback Kyle Murray threw a pair of interceptions against a pair of touchdowns and was also sacked twice.

BetRivers reported that 81 percent of the spread-line money wagered at the book has backed Seattle, while the Seahawks' -125 moneyline has drawn 90 percent of the money and 79 percent of the total bets.

While the Cardinals have scored the first touchdown in each of their past eight home games, the Seahawks have won the first half in each of the past seven meetings overall and have covered the spread in six of those games.

PROP PICKS

--Over 43.5 Total Points (-110 at BetRivers): Each of Arizona's past four home games has gone over the total points line. The season-ending injury suffered by Cardinals running back James Conner has contributed to the relatively low total points line, but Trey Benson should prove to be a productive replacement. Seattle's offensive line remains a major question mark, although quarterback Sam Darnold does have a wealth of talented wide receivers and tight ends.

--Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba 60+ Receiving Yards (-281 at DraftKings): JSN has scored a touchdown in three of the past four meetings. He also averaged 79.5 receiving yards in last year's meetings and is clearly Darnold's No. 1 target, compiling 22 catches for 323 yards through the first three games this season.

MEET MR. BENSON

The Cardinals will have to make do without Conner, their stalwart running back, who went on injured reserve with a foot injury suffered in a 16-15 loss to host San Francisco on Sunday.

"One of your leaders, a captain. You hate that it happened," said Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon. "I feel terrible, but I know he'll take the right attitude and bounce back.

"Picking up that slack, both the player and the person, we're all going to have to collectively do it, truthfully. But that's a bummer just like all of our guys who've gotten hurt. But just knowing what type of player and person he is it's tough to replace, but we have to. So that's what we'll do."

The Cardinals will have to rely on Benson, a second-year back who has a team-high 125 yards on 21 carries this season.

Conner, a Pro Bowl selection in 2018 and 2021, rushed for more than 3,700 yards and 38 touchdowns over the past four-plus seasons.

"JC is everything, means everything," Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray said after Sunday's loss. "I really don't want to talk about it right now."

Even without Conner, the Cardinals were within a last-second field goal of remaining undefeated.

They'll have to rely on a defense that ranks tied for fifth in the league in allowing 17 points per game.

The Seahawks have won two straight after a season-opening loss to San Francisco. That includes Sunday's 44-13 victory against visiting New Orleans.

INJURY REPORT

Seattle fullback Robbie Ouzts and offensive tackle Josh Jones suffered ankle injuries against the Saints. Ouzts was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday and Jones was ruled out for Thursday's game. Safety Nick Emmanwori (ankle), who missed the last two games, is doubtful. Running back Zach Charbonnet (foot), who sat out last Sunday's game, is questionable but is reportedly expected to play. Guard Anthony Bradford (back) and linebacker Boye Mafe (toe) are questionable.

Cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) and safety Julian Love (hamstring), who missed the game against New Orleans, don't have game status designations so the former Pro Bowl players are good to play.

For the Cardinals, wide receiver Zay Jones (concussion) has been ruled out and cornerback Will Johnson (groin) is doubtful. Starting left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. (knee) is questionable but is reportedly expected to play. Left guard Evan Brown (ankle), tackle Kelvin Beachum (knee/rest), linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither (elbow), cornerback Darren Hall (ankle) and guard Will Hernandez (knee) are questionable.

THEY SAID IT

--"I know that he's continuing to get better. And I think that's the biggest key as a young player is having that want to get better and understand the offense even that much more." --Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold on rookie wide receiver Tory Horton, who has three touchdowns through his first three games.

--"I told the coaches, the sky's not falling, there's no panic in my game," Gannon said. "I told the team that and I haven't lost confidence. We lost a game. The things over the first three weeks that we haven't done a good enough job -- we've got time to correct it. But we've got to correct it." --Gannon on the Cardinals suffering their first loss in Week 3.

PREDICTION

We're not as concerned about the Conner injury as we are about the Seahawks' ability to keep Murray hemmed in the pocket. One of the league's emerging elite defenses will generate a few turnovers against Murray, who struggles with accuracy when forced to throw from the pocket. --Seahawks 26, Cardinals 20

Starts, Sits, Sleepers: Week 4

Player Notes
Kyle Pitts Sep 25 5:30pm CT
Kyle Pitts

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. (toe) returned to a full practice on Thursday after he was limited on Wednesday, according to Tori McElhaney of AtlantaFalcons.com. Pitts was also dealing with a toe injury early last week, but he upgraded to full practice and was able to play in the Week 3 loss to the Carolina Panthers. The 24-year-old should be good to go as the Falcons look to bounce back in Week 4 against the Washington Commanders' suspect secondary after they were shut out by the Carolina Panthers last Sunday. Pitts has not found the end zone yet in 2025, but he's been consistently involved and has caught 15 of his 19 targets from quarterback Michael Penix Jr. for 135 yards. He should be considered a low-end TE1/high-end TE2 play for fantasy managers in a matchup against a Commanders defense that has allowed the ninth-most half-PPR points to TEs through three weeks.

Terry McLaurin Sep 25 5:20pm CT
Terry McLaurin

Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) was officially a non-participant in Thursday's practice, the second straight day this week that he failed to practice. McLaurin injured his quad in the Week 3 win over the Las Vegas Raiders and has received multiple medical opinions from specialists this week, a sign that he won't be available to play this Sunday against the hosting Atlanta Falcons. The 30-year-old will most certainly need to practice in some fashion on Friday to have a shot at suiting up in Week 4, but as of now, fantasy managers should consider McLaurin more doubtful than likely to play. Noah Brown (groin, knee) has yet to practice, too, after missing Week 3, so Washington could be down to Deebo Samuel Sr., Luke McCaffrey, and rookie Jaylin Lane this weekend. It's also unclear if quarterback Jayden Daniels will be able to return from a knee sprain he suffered in Week 2.

From RotoBaller

Chris Godwin Sep 25 5:20pm CT
Chris Godwin

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle) was downgraded to a non-participant in Thursday's practice after he was a full practice participant on Wednesday. It's a reminder that although the Bucs are hopeful that Godwin will make his season debut in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday, it's not guaranteed. The 29-year-old is still recovering from a dislocated left ankle that ended his 2024 season in Week 7. The fact that Godwin was able to practice in full on Wednesday is a good sign, but how much he's able to do on Friday will ultimately decide if Tampa will make him active this weekend against the reigning Super Bowl champions. The Bucs could certainly use Godwin back with Mike Evans (hamstring) out for at least a couple of weeks, but Godwin is expected to be eased into the offense whenever he returns. Sterling Shepard will be a better flex play than Godwin if Godwin is cleared to play on Sunday.

Jayden Daniels Sep 25 5:10pm CT
Jayden Daniels

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice on Thursday for the second straight day this week. Daniels is making progress from a knee sprain that he suffered in the Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers, but he's up in the air to return this weekend for a road matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. The 24-year-old was held out of the Week 3 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. If he is unable to upgrade to a full practice on Friday, Daniels will likely go into Sunday's contest with a questionable designation. The Commanders aren't going to rush the second-year signal-caller back onto the field, especially if his lateral movement is still compromised. If Daniels can return against Atlanta, fantasy managers will want to get him back into their starting lineups, even if he's without top wideout Terry McLaurin (quadriceps).

From RotoBaller

David Njoku Sep 25 4:10pm CT
David Njoku

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (knee) practiced in full on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday with a knee injury. By practicing in full on Thursday, Njoku would appear to be trending towards playing in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions. Njoku has recorded 12 catches for 117 yards on 18 targets through his first three games of 2025. The 29-year-old is still seeing steady playing time, but his target share has been limited due to the emergence of Browns' rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. Njoku profiles outside the top-12 for fantasy at the tight end position in Week 4, and both Browns tight ends are difficult for managers to trust as long as they share the field.

From RotoBaller

Cam Ward Sep 25 4:00pm CT
Cam Ward

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cameron Ward (ankle/calf) was able to log a full practice on Thursday after being limited in practice on Wednesday. Ward's status is still worth monitoring heading into Friday, but he appears to be on track to play in Week 4 against the Houston Texans. Ward has struggled in the first three games of his NFL career, completing just 54.5% of his pass attempts for 506 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. The Texans' defense has been one of the best units in the league so far in 2025, so Ward could be in for another rough game on Sunday. Even in two-quarterback formats, Ward should be avoided by fantasy managers in Week 4.

From RotoBaller

Ricky Pearsall Sep 25 3:50pm CT
Ricky Pearsall

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) was able to return to practice on Thursday after missing Wednesday's practice with a knee injury, per David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard. Pearsall appears to be trending towards playing in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 25-year-old has his best game of the season in Week 3, posting eight catches for 117 yards against the Arizona Cardinals. Pearsall has recorded 16 catches for 281 yards on 24 targets through his first three games of the season. Assuming he can play on Sunday, Pearsall profiles as a low-end fantasy WR2 in Week 4 against Jacksonville.

From RotoBaller

Jauan Jennings Sep 25 3:50pm CT
Jauan Jennings

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings (ankle/shoulder) was not able to practice for the second straight day on Thursday, per David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard. Jennings was unable to play in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals and could be trending towards missing his team's Week 4 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars as well. Jennings has battled multiple injuries so far in 2025, dating back to training camp, but he recorded seven catches on 15 targets for 105 yards and a touchdown across the 49ers' first two games of the season. The 28-year-old's absence would likely mean an uptick in targets for wideout Ricky Pearsall (knee), who had 11 targets and eight catches against the Cardinals with Jennings sidelined in Week 3. If Jennings can return for Week 4, he profiles as a low-end fantasy WR3/flex option.

From RotoBaller

Isaiah Likely Sep 25 3:30pm CT
Isaiah Likely

Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken said the team is hoping to get tight end Isaiah Likely (foot) back on the field in Week 4, per ESPN's Jamison Hensley. Likely underwent foot surgery in August and has yet to suit up in 2025. The 25-year-old recorded 42 catches for 477 yards and six touchdowns across 16 games (nine starts) in 2024. Likely will probably need a bit of a ramp-up period upon his return, so he may see a limited workload in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs even if he's active for the game. Still, Likely's presence could take targets away from Ravens tight end Mark Andrews, who recorded six catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns in Week 3. Once Likely is fully re-integrated into the offense, it may be tough for either Baltimore tight end to provide consistent top-12 fantasy production at the position.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt Sep 25 3:20pm CT
Jacory Croskey-Merritt

Washington Commanders rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (knee) was held out of practice with a knee injury for the second straight day on Thursday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Croskey-Merritt has logged 22 carries for 125 yards and two touchdowns through his first three games of 2025. The 24-year-old's status for the team's Week 4 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons appears to be in doubt. Croskey-Merritt was part of a backfield committee for Washington in Week 3, splitting touches with running backs Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Jeremy McNichols. If Croskey-Merritt is sidelined against the Falcons, Rodriguez Jr. could be the primary early-down back with McNichols handling the majority of the passing-down work. Should Croskey-Merritt be active, he would profile as a low-end fantasy RB3/flex option.

Gunnar Helm Sep 25 3:10pm CT
Gunnar Helm

Tennessee Titans tight ends coach Luke Stocker recently praised rookie tight end Gunnar Helm, calling his growth as a blocker "tremendous." A fourth-round pick out of Texas, Helm has logged six catches for 52 yards through the first three games of his NFL career. The 23-year-old remains firmly behind veteran Chig Okonkwo on Tennessee's tight end depth chart. Still, Helm may be slowly proving to his coaching staff that he's worthy of more snaps and a larger offensive role. Helm is not yet worth rostering in redraft fantasy leagues, but he's a name to monitor in deep leagues and could be a breakout candidate if Okonkwo were to suffer an injury.

From RotoBaller

Calvin Ridley Sep 25 3:00pm CT
Calvin Ridley

Tennessee Titans wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert said that wide receiver Calvin Ridley is targeted more than any other receiver in practice and catches more balls than any player on the team, between JUGS work and targets in practice. Tolbert thinks more reps will get Ridley's confidence back after a tough start to the 2025 season. The 30-year-old veteran caught just one pass for 27 yards in the Week 3 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, and he has eight grabs on 21 targets for 111 scoreless yards through the first three weeks of 2025. The good news is that rookie quarterback Cameron Ward is targeting Ridley more than anyone else on the team, but it just hasn't resulted in much production so far. Ridley has struggled with drops, and it hasn't helped that the Titans have struggled to sustain drives. There could be more frustrating games as Ward finds his footing in the NFL. Ridley has become a boom/bust WR4/flex.

From RotoBaller

Cole Kmet Sep 25 2:50pm CT
Cole Kmet

Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet (groin) was a full-go in Thursday's practice, a day after being limited for the Bears. Kmet has done very little for fantasy managers through the first three weeks of the season, but he could end up being on the streaming radar in Week 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders if rookie first-rounder Colston Loveland (hip) is unable to play. Loveland has yet to practice this week after suffering a hip injury in the Week 3 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Kmet has caught only four passes on seven targets for 70 yards on the year, but he caught his only target for a 10-yard touchdown last Sunday after Loveland left with his hip injury. The Raiders have not been a good matchup for opposing tight ends this year, as they've allowed only 5.5 half-PPR points to the position (fifth-fewest) through three games.

From RotoBaller

Colston Loveland Sep 25 2:40pm CT
Colston Loveland

Chicago Bears rookie first-round tight end Colston Loveland (hip) missed a second straight day of practice this week on Thursday, putting his availability in serious doubt for a Week 4 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Loveland injured his hip in the second quarter of the Week 3 win over the Dallas Cowboys and did not return. It was believed that the 21-year-old avoided a serious injury, but if he's unable to return to practice on Friday, he'll probably be ruled out this weekend. Although Cole Kmet only caught one pass last Sunday, he made it count for his first touchdown of the year in the second half after Loveland departed the game. Before leaving against Dallas, Loveland caught one pass for a big 31-yard pickup, but he has only three catches for 43 yards on six targets in his first three NFL games. If he's out against Vegas, Kmet will be on the QB2 streaming radar.

From RotoBaller

D'Andre Swift Sep 25 2:40pm CT
D'Andre Swift

Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift (hip) was listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice for the second straight day this week with a hip injury. Swift will probably be able to play in Week 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, but he might need a full practice on Friday to avoid going into the weekend with a questionable status. The 26-year-old is Chicago's clear RB1 through three weeks and is averaging 17 touches per game. Through the first three weeks of 2025, Swift has 42 rushing attempts for 149 yards (career-low 3.5 yards per carry) and one touchdown, adding nine receptions for 63 yards on 12 targets. The Raiders have been decent against opposing RBs so far this year, but Swift's volume alone puts him at least in the RB3/flex mix this weekend if he's active. If he does not play, the Bears would split backfield work among rookie Kyle Monangai and Roschon Johnson.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt Sep 25 1:50pm CT
Jacory Croskey-Merritt

Washington Commanders running back Bill Croskey-Merritt (knee) returned to practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday, putting him on track to play in Sunday's road matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. The rookie has been an early bright spot, leading the Commanders in rushing attempts (22), yards (125), and touchdowns (two) despite not yet starting a game. Washington has employed a committee approach, but Croskey-Merritt has held a slight edge in carries as the team eases him into NFL action. While his efficiency and red-zone usage are encouraging, the Falcons rank 10th in the league against the run, and Croskey-Merritt has not been heavily involved as a receiver, which limits his upside. For fantasy purposes, he's best left on benches in standard formats but can be considered a deeper-league flex given his growing role in Washington's backfield.

From RotoBaller

Zach Charbonnet Sep 25 1:40pm CT
Zach Charbonnet

Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet (foot) is expected to play in Thursday night's divisional matchup against the Arizona Cardinals after logging full practices throughout the week. Despite carrying a questionable tag, Charbonnet appears on track to return after missing last week's contest. The third-year back has struggled to gain traction in 2025, posting just 57 rushing yards on 27 carries while dealing with injuries that have cut his efficiency in half compared to his career averages. His outlook doesn't get any easier in Week 4, as Arizona's defense ranks fourth in the NFL against the run, giving up only 76.3 rushing yards per game. Even with his return, Charbonnet projects as a low-upside option and should remain on fantasy benches until he shows signs of turning his season around.

From RotoBaller

Alec Pierce Sep 25 1:40pm CT
Alec Pierce

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce (concussion) missed practice again on Thursday, putting his Week 4 status against the Los Angeles Rams in serious doubt. The Colts face a tough challenge against a Rams defense that currently ranks sixth against the pass, though Indianapolis enters the matchup with the league's No. 2 overall offense. Pierce has been a steady complementary piece this season, hauling in nine of 13 targets for 171 yards, ranking fourth on the team in both receptions and targets. If he's unable to play, tight end Tyler Warren should remain heavily involved, while Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs continue to serve as reliable options in the passing game. Quarterback Daniel Jones has excelled at distributing the ball across multiple weapons, and he'll need to maintain that balance to keep the offense rolling against one of the league's stingiest secondaries.

From RotoBaller

Xavier Legette Sep 25 1:30pm CT
Xavier Legette

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette (hamstring) was limited during Thursday's session, working off to the side without pads as his Week 4 status against the New England Patriots remains uncertain. The second-year wideout has had a tough start to the season, managing just four receptions for eight yards on 15 targets through three games. If Legette is unable to suit up, rookie Tetairoa McMillan should continue operating as Bryce Young's top target and will have a chance to build on his strong start to the season. Veteran slot receiver Hunter Renfrow could also see a bump in usage, making him a deeper-league option if Legette is forced to miss time. Fantasy managers should monitor Legette's status heading into the weekend, but his limited production so far suggests he's best left on benches until he proves healthy and more involved.

From RotoBaller

Tetairoa McMillan Sep 25 1:20pm CT
Tetairoa McMillan

Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan (calf) returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday, a positive sign for his availability in Sunday's matchup with the New England Patriots. With Xavier Legette (hamstring) still sidelined, McMillan is positioned to handle a large share of the passing volume in Week 4. The 2024 second-round pick has been productive early, posting 216 yards through three games while emerging as Bryce Young's most reliable option. Although he's yet to find the end zone, that could change this week against a Patriots defense that has already surrendered five passing touchdowns. Fantasy managers should start McMillan as a WR2, especially in deeper leagues, as he brings both a solid target floor and intriguing upside in a game where Carolina could lean heavily on him.
