Snow problem: Jaxson Dart, Giants cool with Chicago forecast

Thu Nov 6 4:41pm ET
Field Level Media

Sun splashed the Chicago Bears' practice field and temperatures were above 60 on Thursday, but the arrival of the New York Giants in 48 hours might look much different.

Wind gusts up to 33 miles per hour and the threat of the first lake effect snowstorm at Soldier Field on the banks of Lake Michigan are waiting for rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and the Giants if current forecast models are accurate.

"It's definitely not my first weather game. I'm from Utah," said Dart, who attended USC but transferred before Bears quarterback Caleb Williams arrived as a transfer from Oklahoma. "If you know anything about Utah, I played in four seasons. I played in snow games in high school. That's not something that is new to me. I played out at high school where the wind blew, it was right outside of a canyon. I dealt with that every single day as well."

Accuweather downgraded the chance of snow to a chance for morning flurries pregame in Chicago. Other local forecasts are holding off on dismissing accumulating snow. A sharp temperature decline -- with a ripe real-feel temperature of 28 degrees at kickoff -- and the wind direction pulling air from Canada and Minnesota with sustained 18 mph winds out of the northwest could create another shift in the outlook.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll took note of the potential for iffy weather earlier in the week only to check back in and find something completely different.

"You look at the weather, that changes. It's changed a number of times," Daboll said. "So, if you think it's going to be wet, raining, snowing, it's changed a number of times. Last time I looked at it, it looked 36 degrees and sunny."

Player Notes
Shedeur Sanders Nov 6 4:50pm CT
Shedeur Sanders

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders (back) was upgraded to a full practice participant on Thursday after he was listed as limited on Wednesday due to a back injury, per Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN. Back tightness forced Sanders to be inactive for the Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots, which led to Bailey Zappe serving as the backup to rookie Dillon Gabriel. The 23-year-old Sanders is obviously feeling much better after having last week's bye to heal up, so it looks like he'll be back this weekend as the QB2 behind Gabriel against the New York Jets. Sanders, whose draft-day fall to the fifth round was the story of this year's NFL draft, has been praised by the coaching staff for the work that he's put in. However, Gabriel has gotten the first crack at starting duties in 2025 after the team traded away Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco. Sanders could get his shot later this year, but right now, he's only stash-worthy in fantasy leagues in dynasty/keeper formats.

Aaron Jones Nov 6 4:43pm CT
Aaron Jones

Minnesota Vikings RB Aaron Jones (shoulder, toe) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Spin: Jones has expressed optimism about his availability for the game, but fantasy players will know more about his status in the next day or two. He will see most of the work at running back if he plays and can be at least a flex option in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Theo Johnson Nov 6 4:40pm CT
Theo Johnson

New York Giants tight end Theo Johnson (shoulder) was upgraded to a full practice participant on Thursday after he was limited in practice on Wednesday, according to Dan Salomone of Giants.com. Johnson apparently injured his shoulder in the Week 9 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but a return to a full practice on Thursday means he should be ready to roll for a Week 10 contest this Sunday on the road against the Chicago Bears. The 24-year-old scored his fifth touchdown of the season in addition to three catches for 27 yards on six targets last week with Daniel Bellinger (neck) sidelined. Johnson should remain the Giants' primary pass-catching option at TE, but Bellinger's impending return this weekend takes a little bit of the streaming appeal away. Johnson has caught more than three passes in a game only twice this year, but he can't be ignored as a TE2 streamer with rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart injecting life into the Giants' offense.

Dalton Schultz Nov 6 4:40pm CT
Dalton Schultz

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (knee, shoulder) was able to practice in full on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday, according to the team. It's the third straight week that Schultz has been on the team's injury report with knee and shoulder ailments, but the 29-year-old hasn't missed any time. Fantasy managers should expect him to be out there this weekend for a Week 10 divisional clash against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He's still searching for his first trip to the end zone in 2025, and the odds of his first touchdown coming this Sunday took a hit when the Texans ruled out starting quarterback C.J. Stroud (concussion) earlier this week. Schultz has seen an uptick in production in the last three games, though, catching 17 of 21 targets for 199 yards. Backup QB Davis Mills could lean on Schultz as a security blanket this weekend, but Schultz will still be no more than a touchdown-dependent TE2 for fantasy managers.

Dyami Brown Nov 6 4:30pm CT
Dyami Brown

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Dyami Brown (concussion) upgraded to a full practice on Thursday after he was limited on Wednesday due to a concussion that he suffered in the Week 9 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Meanwhile, Brian Thomas Jr. (ankle) has yet to practice this week following a low-grade high-ankle sprain that he suffered in Sunday's overtime win. Additionally, Jacksonville placed first-rounder Travis Hunter (knee) on Injured Reserve last week, so the Jags could be without their top two wideouts in Week 10 against the division-rival Houston Texans on Sunday. The team acquired Jakobi Meyers in a trade on Tuesday from the Raiders, but his snaps could be limited in his debut with the team as he learns the offense. If Brown clears the concussion protocol and plays this weekend, he will have an elevated role in the passing attack, putting him in play as a WR4/flex option in deeper fantasy leagues.

Bobby Wagner Nov 6 4:23pm CT

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (elbow) and WR Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 6. CB Trey Amos (hip), S Quan Martin (hamstring), S Tyler Owens (hamstring, neck) and TE Colson Yankoff (hamstring) were limited during practice. RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (tooth), DT Eddie Goldman (concussion), DT Jer'Zhan Newton (ankle), OT Laremy Tunsil (hamstring) and LB Bobby Wagner (thumb) fully participated in practice.

Harold Fannin Jr. Nov 6 4:20pm CT
Harold Fannin Jr.

Cleveland Browns rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. (hamstring), who leads the team in receptions and receiving yards, missed practice on Thursday because of a hamstring injury, according to Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN. Fannin wasn't listed on the Week 10 injury report, so this is something to watch heading into Friday's final practice of the week. The 21-year-old has come on strong for the Browns in his first year in the league, catching 38 passes for 352 yards and two touchdowns on 51 targets, but he could be in danger of missing this Sunday's game against the New York Jets. Fantasy managers who have been starting him need to have a backup plan at the ready. If Fannin isn't cleared to suit up this weekend, fellow tight end David Njoku would be firmly in the TE1 mix in fantasy football. Check back on Friday for Fannin's official Week 10 status.

Alvin Kamara Nov 6 4:20pm CT
Alvin Kamara

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (ankle) remained a limited participant at practice for the second straight day this week with a lingering ankle injury, according to Katherine Terrell of ESPN. Kamara continues to battle through an ankle injury that has landed him on the team's injury report for the fifth straight week. However, the 30-year-old veteran hasn't missed any games, so he should be able to play this Sunday against the division-rival Carolina Panthers on the road. The five-time Pro Bowler is showing his age in 2025, and his ankle issue probably hasn't helped, as he's averaging a career-low 3.6 yards per carry. Things aren't looking up for Kamara, either, in an offense that is now being run by rookie quarterback Tyler Shough. Kamara has scored just one touchdown on the year and has become a low-upside RB3/flex for fantasy managers.

Tyrod Taylor Nov 6 4:13pm CT
Tyrod Taylor

New York Jets RB Khalil Herbert (groin), LB Francisco Mauigoa (concussion), OG Xavier Newman (ankle) and WR Garrett Wilson (knee) were limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 6. RB Kene Nwangwu (concussion), TE Stone Smartt (quadriceps), TE Mason Taylor (quadriceps), QB Tyrod Taylor (knee) and DT Jay Tufele (knee) fully participated in practice.

From TheHuddle

Tyrod Taylor Nov 6 4:03pm CT
Tyrod Taylor

New York Jets QB Tyrod Taylor (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Spin: The Jets have not named a starter for this week, so Taylor still has a chance to have some value in fantasy leagues this week. Fantasy players should still avoid Taylor since Justin Fields is more likely to receive the start in Week 10.

Marcedes Lewis Nov 6 3:53pm CT
Marcedes Lewis

Denver Broncos practice squad TE Marcedes Lewis was elevated to the active roster Thursday, Nov. 6, and will be available for the Week 10 game.

Aaron Jones Nov 6 3:50pm CT
Aaron Jones

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones Sr. (shoulder, toe) was able to log a limited practice on Thursday after being held out of practice on Wednesday due to toe and shoulder injuries. Jones Sr. suffered an AC joint sprain in his shoulder during his team's Week 9 win over the Detroit Lions that forced him to exit the game early. However, he appears to be trending in the right direction heading into Minnesota's Week 10 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Across four games played this season, the 30-year-old has recorded 218 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 34 touches. If Jones Sr. can't go against Baltimore, Vikings running backs Jordan Mason and Zavier Scott would likely split backfield work. Assuming Jones Sr. is cleared to play, he profiles as a high-end fantasy RB3/flex option in Week 10.

From RotoBaller

Jacory Croskey-Merritt Nov 6 3:50pm CT
Jacory Croskey-Merritt

Washington Commanders rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (tooth) was able to practice in full on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday due to a tooth issue. Croskey-Merritt's status for Washington's Week 10 matchup against the Detroit Lions does not appear to be in jeopardy. The 24-year-old has recorded 440 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 94 carries across nine games so far this season. However, Croskey-Merritt has failed to crack 38 rushing yards or score a touchdown since Week 6. In Washington's Week 9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Croskey-Merritt earned the same number of carries (12) as fellow Commanders back Chris Rodriguez Jr. Washington's unsettled backfield picture makes it difficult for fantasy managers to trust Croskey-Merritt as a starter. He profiles as a low-end RB3/flex option against Detroit in Week 10.

Zach Sieler Nov 6 3:43pm CT

Miami Dolphins CB Rasul Douglas (ankle, foot), WR Dee Eskridge (shoulder) and LB Chop Robinson (concussion) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 6. LB Bradley Chubb (foot), S Ashtyn Davis (quadriceps), RB Ollie Gordon II (ankle), TE Julian Hill (ankle), S Ifeatu Melifonwu (foot, thumb) and DT Zach Sieler (shoulder) were limited during practice. S Minkah Fitzpatrick (thumb), FB Alec Ingold (neck), S Dante Trader Jr. (shoulder) and WR Jaylen Waddle (foot) fully participated in practice.

From TheHuddle

Ollie Gordon II Nov 6 3:40pm CT
Ollie Gordon II

Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon II (ankle) was limited in practice for the second straight day on Thursday due to an ankle issue. Gordon injured his ankle during Miami's Week 9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Before Week 9, the 21-year-old appeared to be carving out a role in the Dolphins' offense. In Miami's Week 8 win over the Atlanta Falcons, Gordon II recorded season-highs in touches (11) and scrimmage yards (66). For the year, Gordon II has logged 152 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns on 46 touches. If he is sidelined in Week 10, Jaylen Wright would likely take over as Miami's RB2 behind De'Von Achane. Even if Gordon II is active on Sunday, the game script in a tough matchup against the Buffalo Bills may make it difficult for Miami to feed him the ball on early downs. The rookie profiles as a deep-league flex option at best in Week 10.

Mike Hughes Nov 6 3:33pm CT
Mike Hughes

Atlanta Falcons LB Leonard Floyd (hamstring), OG Matthew Bergeron (ankle) and OT Storm Norton (foot) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 6. S Jessie Bates (knee), CB Mike Hughes (neck), LB JD Bertrand (knee), OG Chris Lindstrom (foot), DE LaCale London (shoulder) and DE Zach Harrison (knee) were limited during practice. CB Billy Bowman Jr. (hamstring) and WR Casey Washington (back) fully participated in practice.

Atlanta Falcons LB Leonard Floyd (hamstring), OG Matthew Bergeron (ankle) and OT Storm Norton (foot) will not be traveling with the team to Germany for their Week 10 game and have been ruled out.

From TheHuddle

Josh Palmer Nov 6 3:30pm CT
Josh Palmer

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee, ankle) logged his second straight limited practice on Thursday due to knee and ankle issues. The 26-year-old has not played since Week 6, and his status for Buffalo's Week 10 matchup against the Miami Dolphins remains up in the air. Across the six games he's played in this season, Palmer has recorded 14 catches for 234 yards on 20 targets. If he remains sidelined for Week 10, it could help the target outlooks for wide receiver Khalil Shakir and tight end Dalton Kincaid. Even if Palmer is active, the limited target volume he earned before getting injured makes it difficult for fantasy managers to trust him as a starting wide receiver.

From RotoBaller

D.J. Moore Nov 6 3:20pm CT
D.J. Moore

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore (hip, groin) practiced in a limited capacity on Thursday after being held out of practice on Wednesday, per The Athletic's Kevin Fishbain. Chicago has been careful with Moore in early-week practices as he nurses hip and groin ailments, but he looks to be on track to play in Week 10 against the New York Giants. The 28-year-old has recorded at least 72 receiving yards in two straight games after failing to reach that mark in any of his first six contests. Overall, Moore has recorded 30 catches for 403 yards and a touchdown on 44 targets across eight games. Assuming he's cleared to play, Moore profiles as a low-end fantasy WR2 in a favorable matchup against the Giants in Week 10.
