Jets QB Justin Fields clears protocol, to start Monday at Miami

Sat Sep 27 12:01pm ET
Field Level Media

New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields cleared concussion protocol and will start Monday night's road game against the Miami Dolphins, head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed Saturday.

Fields was placed in the protocol following a Week 2 loss against the Buffalo Bills and missed last week's setback at Tampa Bay. He returned to practice this week as a full participant on Thursday and Friday.

Fields, 26, was injured early in the fourth quarter of the 30-10 loss to the Bills on Sept. 14 when he was smacked by Buffalo pass rusher Joey Bosa after throwing an incomplete pass. His head hit the turf as he landed but he stayed in the game for one more play and got sacked by Bosa, causing a fumble.

Veteran backup Tyrod Taylor started last Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Buccaneers. He completed 26 of 36 passes for 197 yards with two touchdowns and one interception that was returned for a score.

Fields has completed just 57.6 percent of his passes for 245 yards with one touchdown. He also has run for 97 yards and two scores in two games.

The Bears selected Fields with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 draft. He spent three seasons in Chicago and one with the Pittsburgh Steelers before signing with the Jets as a free agent in the offseason.

Fields is 14-32 as a starter and has thrown for 8,025 yards with 46 TDs and 31 interceptions.

The Jets (0-3) and Dolphins (0-3) are both searching for their first win of the season.

Player Notes
Rashod Bateman Sep 27 11:10am CT
Rashod Bateman

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman is usually good for a couple of pop-off games throughout the season, and he did just that in Week 3. After hauling in five receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown against the Detroit Lions, he came in as the WR15 in half-PPR formats. The issue is that he usually doesn't consistently string good performances together. Last season, he had a few WR1 and WR2 finishes, but they were never in back-to-back games. Now, he'll take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4, and the last time they played last year, he registered two receptions for 53 yards on five targets. Bateman is very hard to trust, even as a flex option, in most leagues, regardless of scoring format.

D'Andre Swift Sep 27 11:10am CT
D'Andre Swift

Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift (hip) is listed as questionable for Week 4 against the Raiders. Swift was limited in practice throughout the week, but early signs suggest he's trending toward suiting up on Sunday. Through three games, he's logged 42 carries for 149 yards and a touchdown, along with nine receptions for 63 yards. While the numbers don't jump off the page, there are some positives point to better days ahead. The Bears' offense has been rolling under new head coach Ben Johnson, ranking ninth in points scored and coming off a statement win over Dallas. Swift has also been the clear lead back, handling 66% of the snaps and dominating backfield touches. Week 4 brings a matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders, who have allowed the 10th-fewest fantasy points to running backs this season. In a game that projects to be high scoring, Swift should again see steady usage, and any trip to the end zone would push him into RB2 territory, assuming he's good to go.

Kyle Monangai Sep 27 11:10am CT
Kyle Monangai

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai has moved past Roschon Johnson as the team's RB2. Monangai has logged 13 carries for 44 yards and added three catches for 23 yards, playing on 29% of Chicago's snaps. Johnson, meanwhile, has yet to see an offensive snap in 2025. Starter D'Andre Swift continues to lead the backfield but has struggled to find rhythm, averaging just 3.5 yards per carry. This week brings a difficult matchup against a Raiders defense that has allowed the 10th-fewest fantasy points to running backs. With Swift (hip) questionable to play in Week 4, Monangai's value could substantially increase if Swift weren't able to suit up. For now, Monangai remains off the fantasy radar, but his steady role as the No. 2 option could grow in value with the Bears heading into their bye week in Week 5.

Rome Odunze Sep 27 11:10am CT
Rome Odunze

Chicago Bears wideout Rome Odunze gets a homecoming matchup this week in Las Vegas, where he grew up. The second-year receiver is off to a blazing start, catching 16 of 27 targets for 227 yards and a league-leading four touchdowns. He's established himself as Chicago's WR1, logging a 95% snap share and running a route on 100% of dropbacks. Odunze now draws a favorable matchup against a Raiders defense that has surrendered the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers in 2025. Big plays have already burned this secondary, with Terry McLaurin, Kayshon Boutte, and Quentin Johnston all finding success. In a game projected to feature plenty of scoring, Odunze profiles as a low-end WR1 for Week 4.

D.J. Moore Sep 27 11:10am CT
D.J. Moore

Chicago Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore finally found the end zone in Week 3, his first touchdown of the 2025 season. It's been a slow start for the veteran, who has caught 12 of 16 targets for 135 yards and one score through three games. With second-year breakout Rome Odunze taking over as Chicago's WR1, Moore has seen a shift in usage, even taking on a hybrid role with six carries for 15 yards. Quarterback Caleb Williams even compared him to a potential "Deebo Samuel" piece in the offense. Moore gets a favorable matchup in Week 4 against a Raiders defense that has given up the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season. While no longer the locked-in fantasy option he once was, Moore still carries upside and profiles as a high-end WR3 against a vulnerable secondary.

Mark Andrews Sep 27 11:00am CT
Mark Andrews

Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews finally broke through the fantasy wall in Week 3 and delivered a monster performance to finish as the TE2 overall. Last season, he posted awful or mediocre performances for the first five weeks and eventually finished as the TE4 with 11 touchdowns. While this has a chance to be the start of a similar trend, Isaiah Likely (foot) may be part of the reason that it doesn't happen. Likely is considered questionable, and the Ravens are hopeful that he suits up for the first time. That doesn't mean Andrews loses all of his value, since he did a lot of his damage with Likely healthy last season as well, but it could make him even riskier of an option. As of right now, Andrews is projected as a low-end TE1 against the Kansas City Chiefs, but the target trend will be something to watch if Likely returns.

Kyle Pitts Sep 27 11:00am CT
Kyle Pitts

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. was a full participant in practice on Friday and is coming off his third straight game with at least five targets and at least four catches to begin the season. His involvement is a solid increase from 2024, when he garnered 13.7 percent target share, compared to this season's 18.3 percent target share. Unfortunately, this year's targets have been of the shorter variety, with a 5.5 aDOT compared to last season's 8.4 aDOT, and he's yet to receive a red zone look in 2025. Even so, with 15 catches for 135 yards (9.0 average), the 24-year-old stands just outside the top 12 in fantasyscoringat the positionthus far, and if he's able to find paydirt in Week 4, he'll be comfortably in the top 12 come Monday. Atlanta's Week 4 opponent, the Washington Commanders, has allowed the ninth-most half-PPR points to tight ends through three weeks, and gave up three scores through the air last Sunday (albeit to a WR). In what should be a competitive game, view the 6-foot-6 tight end as a low-end TE1 for Week 4.

Darren Waller Sep 27 11:00am CT
Darren Waller

Miami Dolphins tight end Darren Waller (hip) is expected to make his season debut on Monday Night Football against the Jets. Waller came out of retirement this offseason and was traded to Miami to help replace Jonnu Smith, who posted a strong 2024 campaign. However, injuries have kept Waller sidelined for the first three games of 2025. His return provides a boost of excitement for the Dolphins' offense, but expectations should be tempered. The Jets have been solid against tight ends, allowing the sixth-fewest receiving yards to the position this season. Combined with the likelihood of a limited snap count, Waller is not a startable option in Week 4, though he could develop into a streaming candidate if his role grows.

From RotoBaller

Caleb Williams Sep 27 11:00am CT
Caleb Williams

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is off to a scorching start in his sophomore season. Williams is averaging 23.8 fantasy points per game, ranking as the QB3 behind only Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. The arrival of head coach Ben Johnson has transformed the Bears' offense, and Williams is thriving in the system. Week 4 sets up as another strong spot. The Bears face the Las Vegas Raiders, who allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks in 2024. This year, they've already surrendered a 115+ QBR in back-to-back weeks, most recently getting lit up by Marcus Mariota and the Commanders for 41 points on offense. With elite efficiency, rushing upside, and a favorable matchup, Williams is locked in as a high-end QB1 for Week 4. Expect his early-season dominance to continue in Las Vegas.

Zay Flowers Sep 27 10:50am CT
Zay Flowers

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers was almost nowhere to be found in the game script against the Detroit Lions in Week 3. He received three targets and caught two of them for 13 yards compared to seeing 20 targets through the first two games and hauling in seven receptions in each one. He'll take on the Kansas City Chiefs' secondary in Week 4, which always seems personal after the fumble debacle in the playoffs. In their Week 1 matchup last season, Flowers caught six of his 10 targets for 37 yards and ran for 14 more on two carries. The high volume that he usually receives gives him a higher ceiling, which is why he's projected to finish around a low-end WR1 this week in PPR formats.

Rhamondre Stevenson Sep 27 10:50am CT
Rhamondre Stevenson

New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson is expected to maintain a heavy workload in Week 4 despite a rough outing last week. Stevenson lost two fumbles in the loss to Pittsburgh, including one near the goal line that could have resulted in a touchdown. Still, head coach Mike Vrabel backed his lead back, saying, "We absolutely need him and his ability." Stevenson draws the Carolina Panthers in Week 4. While Carolina allowed the most fantasy points to running backs in 2024, they've been far more disciplined against the run this season. Stevenson's volume keeps him in play, but his recurring ball-security issues make him a risky start. He profiles as a low-end RB3 this week.

Justin Fields Sep 27 10:40am CT
Justin Fields

New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields (concussion) has cleared protocol and will start on Monday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins. Fields exited early in Week 2 and missed Week 3, but he is fully removed for Week 4 and set to return. The matchup could not be better. Miami has allowed the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season, and Fields has already shown he can thrive against this defense. In his only career meeting with the Dolphins, he exploded for 178 rushing yards and four total touchdowns, finishing with 40.7 fantasy points. With the Jets still searching for their first win, Fields is positioned for a high-upside QB1 performance in Week 4.

From RotoBaller

Juwan Johnson Sep 27 10:40am CT
Juwan Johnson

New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson recorded six receptions for 51 yards on eight targets in Week 3 against the Seahawks. He and starting quarterback Spencer Rattler have built a strong connection, with Rattler targeting him 28 times this season, second-most on the team behind receiver Chris Olave. Johnson ranks fifth in receiving yards among tight ends through three weeks, and his volume shows no signs of slowing. He faces a Bills defense in Week 4 that has been solid against tight ends, allowing just five receptions for 32 yards and one touchdown through three weeks. Despite the tough matchup, Johnson remains a TE1 based on volume alone.

From RotoBaller

Rashid Shaheed Sep 27 10:30am CT
Rashid Shaheed

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed recorded four receptions for 42 yards on six targets in the Week 3 blowout loss to the Seahawks. This was his second straight game with exactly four receptions, and he ranks third on the team in total targets through three weeks. Shaheed remains a big-play threat thanks to his speed, but he faces a Bills defense that has allowed a long reception of just 19 yards or fewer in each of their last two contests. With limited volume, he ranks as a WR3/WR4, though he could be worth a flier as the Saints are likely to have to air it out against Buffalo.

From RotoBaller

Derrick Henry Sep 27 10:30am CT
Derrick Henry

Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry had three fumbles over the last two seasons combined, which included 605 carries. This year, he already has three fumbles in three games across 41 carries. Despite the ball security issues, he's still averaging a touchdown and 80.7 yards per game. Most of that success came in Week 1 when he finished as the RB1 overall, but the last two weeks saw a finish at RB54 and RB21. The Kansas City Chiefs still present a tougher matchup as they're ranked ninth in points allowed per game, and 13th against opposing running backs in fantasy. Henry still won't have the lead blocking of fullback Patrick Ricard (calf), and star tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle) is also questionable. While we wouldn't advise benching Henry (projected to be RB8), this week could prove to be pivotal in the trajectory of the season.

From RotoBaller

Trey Sermon Sep 27 10:30am CT
Trey Sermon

The Pittsburgh Steelers are elevating running back Trey Sermon for Week 4's matchup against the Vikings in Dublin. Sermon was also active in Week 3, when the Steelers carried four running backs against New England, but he was limited to return duties after rookie Kaleb Johnson's Week 2 miscue. With Jaylen Warren (knee) questionable, the Steelers may want additional depth in the backfield, though reports suggest Warren is trending toward playing. That leaves Sermon without a meaningful role on offense. For fantasy purposes, Sermon carries no value in Week 4, though he could contribute in the return game along with backup running back Kenneth Gainwell.

From RotoBaller

Keon Coleman Sep 27 10:20am CT
Keon Coleman

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman has cooled off considerably since his strong Week 1 breakout. Over the past two games, Coleman has totaled only six receptions for 46 yards, as the Bills have shifted toward a more run-heavy approach. Positive game script has also limited his involvement, with Buffalo holding comfortable leads in Weeks 2 and 3 and relying less on Josh Allen's arm. That trend could continue in Week 4, as the Bills are 15.5-point favorites against the New Orleans Saints. The matchup itself is relatively easy, with New Orleans allowing the 10th-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season. Given the reduced usage and expected negative game script, Coleman should be viewed as a risky FLEX play rather than a reliable starter.

Lamar Jackson Sep 27 10:20am CT
Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has still looked every bit of his MVP self through three weeks this year. He currently leads the league in passing touchdowns, passer rating, yards per pass attempt and per completion, passing touchdown percentage, and is third in pass completion percentage. The biggest difference is that he hasn't gone for as many rushing yards per game (39.3) as he has in recent seasons. Despite all of his heroics, the Ravens sit at a 1-2 record and will try to avoid going 1-3 as they take on the also 1-2 Kansas City Chiefs. Last season, in Week 1, Jackson collected 273 yards and a touchdown on 26-for-41 passing with 122 yards on 16 carries. The Chiefs are right around the middle of the pack against opposing QBs so far, but this matchup is usually a bit more personal for Jackson and company. As long as the Ravens' defense continues to look like Swiss cheese, Jackson should continue to deliver for fantasy managers as one of the best options in the league.

Brock Purdy Sep 27 10:20am CT
Brock Purdy

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) has been removed from the injury report and will return in Week 4 after missing the past two games. Backup Mac Jones handled starts in his absence, but Purdy looked sharp in his lone appearance this season, completing 26 of 35 passes for 277 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions against a tough Seahawks defense in Week 1. Purdy now draws a challenging matchup with the Jaguars, who lead the league in interceptions forced through three weeks. Complicating matters, the 49ers' offensive line remains shaky, and wideouts Jauan Jennings (ankle) and Ricky Pearsall (knee) are both battling injuries. Given the circumstances, Purdy profiles as a safe QB2 in Week 4.

Christian Gonzalez Sep 27 10:10am CT
Christian Gonzalez

New England Patriots star cornerback Christian Gonzalez (hamstring) is expected to return in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers. Gonzalez was limited in practice all week, but the team anticipates having their lockdown corner back on the field Sunday. New England's secondary has struggled without him, giving up the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers through three weeks. Gonzalez's return should help stabilize the unit, especially if he's matched up against rookie wideout Tetairoa McMillan, who has posted 216 yards on 14 receptions but is also questionable with a calf injury. Even if McMillan suits up, this could be a difficult matchup for the rookie against one of the league's top young corners.
