Patrick Mahomes, wife celebrate Golden moment, welcome third child

Field Level Media

Patrick Mahomes has a new fan in the house as he leads the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs against the fourth-seeded Houston Texans in the AFC Divisional Round on Sunday.

Brittany Mahomes announced on her Instagram account that she and her husband welcomed their third child, Golden Raye Mahomes, on Sunday. Golden joins her siblings, sister Sterling and brother Bronze, as dad attempts to complete an historic Super Bowl three-peat.

Sterling turns 4 next month; Bronze celebrated his second birthday in November.

Kansas City had a bye on Sunday -- a scenario Mahomes said in an interview with Netflix late last month that he hope would occur.

"Hopefully God works the right way and we can have that baby maybe on the bye week somewhere and then everything will work out perfectly," he said.

Mahomes, 29, is already a three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time league MVP. He and the Chiefs are pursuing their third consecutive Super Bowl victory.

He and Brittany, also 29, were high school sweethearts in Texas. They are part of the ownership group of the Kansas City Current of the National Women's Soccer League and also shareholders of MLB's Kansas City Royals and the MLS franchise Sporting KC.

T.J. Hockenson Jan 14 12:50am ET
T.J. Hockenson

Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson brought in all five of his targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The 27-year-old was able to break free for a nifty 26-yard catch-and-run late in the third quarter, but that would be the team's only TD -- and highlight -- of the game. The Vikings' offense fizzled out for the second straight week as quarterback Sam Darnold's late-season collapse continued. It's an unfortunate ending to the season for Minnesota, who won 14 games and was on the brink of a first-round bye. Still, Hockenson can find a silver lining in that he did not re-injure the knee that kept him out of the season's first seven games. He'll now turn to 2025 with uncertainty at quarterback.

Tyler Higbee Jan 14 12:43am ET
Tyler Higbee

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Rams TE Tyler Higbee (chest) went to a Phoenix-area hospital after suffering a chest injury in the NFC wild-card game Monday, Nov. 13, against the Minnesota Vikings. 'I think he's going to be okay,' head coach Sean McVay said.

Fantasy Spin: Higbee ended up with a team-best 58 receiving yards and five receptions on five targets before checking out. If he is unable to play in the NFC Divisional Round playoff game on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles, look for Davis Allen and Hunter Long to see an increased role in the offense.

Tyler Higbee Jan 14 12:40am ET
Tyler Higbee

Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee (chest) was taken to the hospital on Monday night. He is in stable condition and is expected to be okay, according to head coach Sean McVay. Higbee exited the Rams' Wild Card contest against the Minnesota Vikings during the first half, but he still managed to accumulate five receptions for 58 yards. He finished as the Rams' receiving leader and was trending toward delivering a historic performance before his departure. Moving forward, we will await updates from the Rams regarding his status and eventual release from the hospital. It's too early to speculate on his status for the Divisional Round against the Philadelphia Eagles, but given the severity of his injury, he likely faces an uphill battle to play. If Higbee can't suit up, Colby Parkinson would be the Rams' primary tight end with Davis Allen filling a complementary role.

Jordan Addison Jan 14 12:40am ET
Jordan Addison

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison caught 3-of-8 targets for 29 yards in his team's 27-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round. It was a forgettable day for the entire Vikings offense, as quarterback Sam Darnold was put in the dirt on nine occasions. Addison was the intended target on a few deep shots and could have had a more significant outing, but had trouble corralling most of the targets. The sophomore wideout performed well in a complementary role to his superstar teammate Justin Jefferson in 2024, and the two should continue to be a dynamic duo for the foreseeable future. However, it's impossible to know who will man the helm for Minnesota next season at this time. J.J. McCarthy (knee) is recovering from injury, while Darnold and Nick Mullens are set to be free agents, leaving Daniel Jones as the only healthy QB on the roster.

Justin Jefferson Jan 14 12:20am ET
Justin Jefferson

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson brought in 5-of-8 targets for 58 yards in his team's Wild Card loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The fantasy stalwart tied fellow wideout Jordan Addison for the team lead in targets but was mostly shut down by a stingy Rams defense. It was a rough day for the entire Vikes' offense, as quarterback Sam Darnold had trouble connecting with any of his pass catchers, even when he wasn't in the grass. Jefferson caught his last pass of the contest with just over three minutes to go in the first half. The superstar wideout had another excellent season, but he'll undoubtedly be left wanting more after a near first-round bye. At this time, it is difficult to tell who the 25-year-old's signal-caller will be in 2025. However, he'll still likely be chosen amongst the first few picks in next Summer's fantasy drafts.

Aaron Jones Jan 14 12:10am ET
Aaron Jones

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones rushed 13 times for 48 yards and hauled in 3-of-6 targets for an additional 12 yards in their 27-9 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams. The 30-year-old again dominated backfield touches for the Vikings but didn't have much to show for it. Jones was actually decent when he toted the rock but was mainly phased out of the team's plan of attack after they quickly trailed 17-3 in the first half. That, and quarterback Sam Darnold's ineffectiveness, would be the cause of another average day for the veteran rusher, who failed to eclipse 50 yards on the ground in his last three outings. Unfortunately, Minnesota's season will end despite working to a 14-3 record in the regular season. Jones will now hit the market, headlining the list of free-agent RBs in 2025.

Kyren Williams Jan 14 12:10am ET
Kyren Williams

Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams rushed for 76 yards on 16 carries during Monday's Wild Card win over the Minnesota Vikings. He also caught all three of his targets for an additional 16 yards and one touchdown through the air. It was another productive showing for the Rams' workhorse running back as he found the end zone for the third consecutive game. He finished 2024 as the overall RB7 in PPR leagues, achieving that mark for the second season in a row. Williams should continue to be treated as a premier option in fantasy and gambling circles, especially after Blake Corum (forearm) was placed on injured reserve last week.

Jared Verse Jan 14 12:10am ET
Jared Verse

The Los Angeles Rams D/ST unit allowed nine points, registered nine sacks, tallied two turnovers, and scored one touchdown during Monday's Wild Card win over the Minnesota Vikings. Undeniably, the Rams' defense was able to overpower the Vikings' offense, revealing numerous flaws within quarterback Sam Darnold's game while holding running back Aaron Jones to just 3.7 yards per carry on the ground. Jared Verse had a fumble recovery touchdown, Kobie Turner had two sacks, and Cobie Durant intercepted a pass, making up just a few of the many standout performances within the box score. Monday's dominant showing has been uncharacteristic for the Rams of late, and it may be hard to replicate their dominance when they face the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round.

Cooper Kupp Jan 14 12:00am ET
Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp converted his lone target into a 29-yard reception during Monday night's Wild Card win over the Minnesota Vikings. While Kupp is presumably content knowing that his team advanced to the next round of the playoffs, his fantasy managers might not be as joyful. The 31-year-old is in the midst of a brutal stretch, catching just five passes for 82 yards over his last four games combined. He's simply not Matthew Stafford's preferred option in the passing game anymore. That honor belongs to Puka Nacua, who caught five of nine targets against the Vikings. Moving forward, Nacua is the top fantasy option in Los Angeles while Kupp works his way onto many managers' benches.

From RotoBaller

Davis Allen Jan 14 12:00am ET
Davis Allen

Los Angeles Rams tight end Davis Allen caught one of his two targets for 13 yards and a touchdown during Monday night's Wild Card win over the Minnesota Vikings. Allen had minimal playoff experience prior to this week, playing in just one playoff contest last year. He'll get an opportunity to at least double that total this season as the Rams' win gets them into the Divisional Round next week against the Philadelphia Eagles. Allen typically fills a depth role in Los Angeles, but his touchdown and the injury to Tyler Higbee (chest) could open the door for the 23-year-old Clemson product to earn more snaps and catch more passes.

From RotoBaller

Matthew Stafford Jan 13 11:50pm ET
Matthew Stafford

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 19 of his 27 pass attempts for 209 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Monday's Wild Card win over the Minnesota Vikings. The veteran signal-caller also took two sacks in the contest. All in all, this was a highly productive showing from Stafford and the Rams' offense. The 36-year-old had averaged 153 yards and just 0.3 passing touchdowns over his last three games, so the Rams' playoff win allowed him to get back on track with his highest yardage and touchdown totals since Week 14. His performance suggests that he's still capable of outperforming talented defenses when necessary, including pivotal playoff matchups. Fresh off dismantling the Minnesota Vikings, Stafford will turn around and prepare for another talented NFC team, the Philadelphia Eagles, in the Divisional Round.

From RotoBaller

Sam Darnold Jan 13 11:50pm ET
Sam Darnold

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold completed 25-of-40 passes for 245 yards and one touchdown in Monday night's 27-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He'd add 19 yards on four carries, tossed one interception, was sacked nine times, and coughed up a fumble that was returned for a TD. Ouch. There's no getting around it: Darnold played poorly for a second consecutive contest, seemingly crumbling again under the pressure of the bright lights. This isn't to take anything away from an exceptional LA Rams defensive game plan, but the 27-year-old held onto the ball for too long, too often. Even the good throws were either well-defended or dropped by the intended target. In two weeks' time, Minnesota went from potentially clinching a first-round bye to being the victim of a first-round exit. The USC product was stellar for a large portion of 2024. Unfortunately, his last two performances will likely mar most of his improvements. He'll head into 2025 on the search for a new job.

From RotoBaller

Puka Nacua Jan 13 11:50pm ET
Puka Nacua

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua caught five of his nine targets for 44 yards during Monday's Wild Card win over the Minnesota Vikings. He also added a seven-yard rush. Nacua did lead the team in targets and tied for the most receptions, but his production was somewhat modest relative to some of his recent games. For context, he hadn't finished with fewer than 50 receiving yards in a single game since Week 9. Amidst his slightly less explosive showing on Monday night, Nacua still managed to show that he is Matthew Stafford's preferred option in the passing game. Not only did he fetch a team-most nine targets, but he was also far more involved than Cooper Kupp, who once again struggled to the tune of one catch for 29 yards through the air. Moving forward, Nacua is the top fantasy option in Los Angeles and an intriguing play ahead of next week's battle with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Sam Darnold Jan 13 11:33pm ET
Sam Darnold

The Minnesota Vikings suffered a loss in the NFC wild-card game against the Los Angeles Rams in a game moved to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. due to the terrible Southern California wildfires situation. QB Sam Darnold had a disastrous game, completing 25-of-40 passes for 245 yards, one touchdown and one interception with 19 rushing yards and a lost fumble, while RB Aaron Jones ended up with 13 rushes for 48 yards and 12 receiving yards on six targets. RB Cam Akers chipped in with 39 rushing yards, while WR T.J. Hockenson had five grabs for a game-high 64 yards and a touchdown. WRs Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson each had team-highs with eight targets, with Jefferson posting five catches and 58 yards, while Addison had three grabs for 29 yards. TE Johnny Mundt had two catches for 28 yards, too. LB Blake Cashman led the way on defense with 11 total stops, five solo tackles, a sack and a QB hit, while LB Ivan Pace Jr. had a game-high seven solo tackles with 10 total stops and two tackles for loss.

Matthew Stafford Jan 13 11:33pm ET
Matthew Stafford

The Los Angeles Rams topped the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC wild-card game, led by QB Matthew Stafford who was 19-of-27 for 209 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. RB Kyren Williams ran 16 times for 76 yards, while adding three receptions for 16 yards and a score. TE Tyler Higbee had five receptions for a team-high 58 yards before checking out with an injury. WR Puka Nacua was the top wideout with five catches for 44 yards on nine targets, while WR Cooper Kupp had a lone 29-yard reception on his only target. WR Demarcus Robinson also had a 23-yard reception on his only offensive touch on two targets, while TE Davis Allen had a 13-yard touchdown grab on his only reception. DE Jared Verse had a 57-yard fumble recovery for touchdown, too, while DT Neville Gallimore and LB Byron Young each had 1.5 sacks apiece. DT Kobie Turner had four total stops, two solo tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss and two quarterback hits, while S Quentin Lake had team highs with nine total stops and six solo tackles.

Mike McCarthy Jan 13 10:30pm ET
Mike McCarthy

Per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is scheduled to interview with the Chicago Bears on Wednesday for their head-coaching position. Chicago has cast a wide net in search of their next HC, already having interviewed nine candidates, with another nine interviews requested. McCarthy can now be added to the list after Dallas initially denied Chicago's request to interview him just last week. It's a strange situation, but nonetheless, Chicago is doing its due diligence regarding the vacancy. McCarthy worked to a 49-35 record in his time with the Cowboys, including three consecutive 12-win seasons from 2021-2023. However, he won only one playoff game in that span.

Tyler Higbee Jan 13 10:20pm ET
Tyler Higbee

Per Adam Grosbard of the team, Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee (chest) has officially been ruled out for Monday's Wild Card matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. Higbee exited the game early in the second quarter and was initially ruled doubtful about returning. However, he was not well enough to do so after halftime. The former fourth-round pick looked to be on his way to a massive day -- nabbing all five of his targets for 58 yards through the first quarter and change. At the time he was forced from the contest, the 32-year-old led the team in receptions and yards while tying Puka Nacua for the team lead in targets.
