NFL roundup: Lions dominate Vikings for No. 1 seed in NFC

Mon Jan 6 1:14am ET
Field Level Media

Jahmyr Gibbs had 170 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns and the host Detroit Lions pulled away for a 31-9 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

Jared Goff completed 27 of 33 passes for 231 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for Detroit (15-2). Gibbs rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns and caught five passes for 31 yards and one score.

Sam Darnold completed 18 of 41 passes for 166 yards for Minnesota (14-3), which was held without a touchdown. The Vikings' nine-game winning streak ended.

The Lions clinched the NFC North title for the second year in a row. They will have a bye next week and have secured home-field advantage throughout the conference playoffs.

Broncos 38, Chiefs 0

The best day of Bo Nix's young career punched Denver's ticket to the playoffs, as the Broncos put together a rout of visiting Kansas City.

It marks the first time since their Super Bowl-winning 2015 season that the Broncos (10-7) have reached the postseason. Denver clinched the No. 7 seed in the AFC playoffs. Nix completed his first 18 throws and was 26-for-29 passing for the game, setting a career high with 321 yards, and he also had four touchdown passes. Marvin Mims Jr. had a pair of receiving TDs.

With the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs wrapped up, the Chiefs (15-2) rested several top players, such as Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Isiah Pacheco, Chris Jones, Jawaan Taylor and George Karlaftis. Quarterback Carson Wentz was 10-of-17 passing for 98 yards for Kansas City.

Panthers 44, Falcons 38 (OT)

Miles Sanders rushed for a game-winning 1-yard touchdown in overtime as Carolina eliminated host Atlanta from playoff contention.

Bryce Young completed 25 of 34 passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns, adding two more scores on the ground for the Panthers (5-12), who scored their most points in a game this season.

Michael Penix Jr. threw for 312 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for the Falcons (8-9), who needed a win paired with a Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss to the New Orleans Saints in order to win the division. Bijan Robinson ran for 170 yards and two touchdowns, while Drake London caught 10 passes for 187 yards and two scores.

Commanders 23, Cowboys 19

Marcus Mariota's 5-yard touchdown pass to Terry McLaurin with three seconds left lifted Washington over Dallas in Arlington, Texas.

Relieving Jayden Daniels in the second half, Mariota was 15-of-18 passing for 161 yards and two touchdowns. He kept the game-winning 11-play, 91-yard drive alive with a 33-yard carry on fourth-and-1. The Commanders (12-5) nailed down the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs and won 12 games in a single season for the first time since 1991.

Trey Lance, the third overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, made his first start since Sept. 18, 2022, and was 20-of-34 passing for 244 yards for the Cowboys (7-10).

Bears 24, Packers 22

Cairo Santos drilled a 51-yard field goal on the final play of Chicago's season finale as the Bears ended a 10-game losing streak by edging host Green Bay.

The win also snapped the longest active winning streak by a team against one opponent. Chicago had lost its previous 11 games against Green Bay. Caleb Williams moved the Bears (5-12) 47 yards to set up Santos' heroics after Brandon McManus' third field goal of the afternoon, a 55-yarder, had given Green Bay (11-6) a 22-21 lead with 54 seconds remaining.

Williams was 21-of-29 passing for 148 yards and a touchdown to DJ Moore, who caught nine passes for 86 yards. Packers quarterback Jordan Love hit on 7 of 12 passes for 69 yards but left the game during Green Bay's fifth series due to a right elbow injury and did not return.

Colts 26, Jaguars 23 (OT)

Matt Gay kicked four field goals, including a 38-yarder in overtime, to help Indianapolis defeat visiting Jacksonville.

Jonathan Taylor rushed for 177 yards and one touchdown on 34 carries for the Colts (8-9). Joe Flacco completed 23 of 40 throws for 264 yards and found Alec Pierce for his lone passing score. Indianapolis notched a fourth-down stop after Gay's go-ahead kick in the extra session.

Mac Jones was 20-of-32 passing for 225 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Jaguars (4-13). Parker Washington had a touchdown catch, Tank Bigsby rushed for a score and Brian Thomas Jr. finished with seven receptions for 103 yards.

Patriots 23, Bills 16

Joe Milton III threw for one touchdown and rushed for another in his NFL debut to guide New England past Buffalo in Foxborough, Mass.

Milton rattled off 11 straight completions to begin his professional career and finished 22-of-29 passing for 241 yards. Kayshon Boutte was Milton's favorite target, hauling in seven receptions for a career-high 117 yards and a TD. The Patriots (4-13) would have secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft had they lost.

Mitchell Trubisky threw for 101 yards and a TD on 15-for-21 passing for the Bills (13-4), the No. 2 seed in the AFC during the upcoming playoffs. Ray Davis led Buffalo's rushing attack with 64 yards on 15 carries.

Eagles 20, Giants 13

Tanner McKee threw two touchdown passes in his first NFL start as Philadelphia beat visiting New York to match a single-season franchise record for wins.

The Eagles (14-3), who posted the same record two years ago, were already locked in as the No. 2 seed in the NFC and did not play most of their starters. They will host the Packers in a wild-card game next weekend. McKee threw for 269 yards on 27-of-41 passing.

Giants rookie Malik Nabers had 64 yards on five catches and set the franchise's single-season reception record with 109, breaking Steve Smith's 2009 mark of 107. New York (3-14) finished the campaign winless in the NFC East and ended its disastrous centennial season with a franchise record for losses.

Buccaneers 27, Saints 19

Baker Mayfield threw two touchdown passes and host Tampa Bay came from behind to defeat New Orleans and win its fourth consecutive NFC South title.

Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans reached 1,000 yards receiving for the 11th consecutive season to tie Jerry Rice's NFL record for consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns. Mayfield passed for 221 yards and rushed for 68, but Tampa Bay (10-7) didn't lead until he threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Jalen McMillan with 10:09 left in the game.

Blake Grupe kicked four field goals and rookie Spencer Rattler passed for a season-high 240 yards and a touchdown for the Saints (5-12), who lost their last four games.

Texans 23, Titans 14

C.J. Stroud threw a touchdown pass and Dameon Pierce rushed for 176 yards and another score as Houston tuned up for the playoffs by defeating Tennessee in Nashville.

Stroud hit all six of his passes for 50 yards on the game's first possession, finding Nico Collins for a 2-yard scoring strike. Houston coach DeMeco Ryans pulled Stroud at that point and used backup Davis Mills, who was 12-of-22 passing for 128 yards for the Texans (10-7).

With their loss and the Patriots' victory over the Bills, the Titans (3-14) received the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Will Levis hit on 9 of 17 passes for 175 yards, including a 49-yard TD pass to Tay Martin with 2:41 left in the game, while Mason Rudolph also played at quarterback and went 7-of-9 passing for 70 yards.

Cardinals 47, 49ers 24

Kyler Murray tied a career high with four touchdown passes and did not throw an interception to lead Arizona to a victory over San Francisco in Glendale, Ariz.

Murray was 25-of-35 passing for 242 yards for Arizona, which concluded its season 8-9. The Cardinals did not play leading rusher James Conner (knee injury).

San Francisco (6-11) played without starting quarterback Brock Purdy (elbow) and receiver Deebo Samuel (ribs/wrist). Purdy's replacement, Joshua Dobbs, started eight games for the Cardinals last season while Murray nursed a knee injury. Dobbs completed 29 of 43 pass attempts on Sunday for 326 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Seahawks 30, Rams 25

Geno Smith threw four touchdown passes, including a 16-yarder to Noah Fant with 3:19 remaining, as Seattle edged Los Angeles in Inglewood, Calif.

Smith completed 20 of 27 passes for 223 yards. Zach Charbonnet and Kenny McIntosh combined for 108 rushing yards, with Fant and fellow tight end AJ Barner each finishing with five receptions and scoring once for the Seahawks (10-7).

The Rams (10-7), who had already clinched the NFC West, rested several starters, including quarterback Matthew Stafford. Jimmy Garoppolo was 27-of-41 passing for 334 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in his Los Angeles debut.

Chargers 34, Raiders 20

Quentin Johnston hauled in a career-high 13 receptions for 186 yards, leading Los Angeles over host Las Vegas to help the Chargers clinch the fifth seed in the AFC playoffs.

With the win, the Chargers (11-6) will head to Houston to face the Texans in the wild-card round. Justin Herbert threw for 346 yards and two touchdowns, completing 28 of 36 passes for Los Angeles. Ladd McConkey had 95 yards on five catches.

Aidan O'Connell threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns for the Raiders (4-13). Jakobi Meyers hauled in nine receptions for 123 yards to reach 1,000 receiving yards in a season for the first time in his six-year career. Brock Bowers added four catches for 50 yards and a touchdown to finish his rookie campaign with 112 receptions. The Las Vegas tight end set the single-season reception record for a rookie at any position.

Jets 32, Dolphins 20

In what might have been the final game of his Hall of Fame career, Aaron Rodgers threw a season-high four touchdown passes and reached a career milestone while leading New York to a win over Miami in East Rutherford, N.J.

Rodgers' first touchdown pass on Sunday was the 500th of his career, joining Tom Brady (649), Drew Brees (571), Peyton Manning (539) and Brett Favre (508) as the only quarterbacks to reach the mark. Rodgers completed 23 of 36 passes for 274 yards and threw an interception as the Jets (5-12) played spoiler against their longtime AFC East rivals.

Even before time expired, Miami (8-9) was eliminated from playoff contention once the Broncos beat the Chiefs to clinch the AFC's final wild-card berth. The Dolphins missed the postseason after making it there in each of the past two seasons.

Bender's Starts/Sits: Week 18

Player Notes
Craig Reynolds Jan 6 1:20am ET
Craig Reynolds

Detroit Lions running back Craig Reynolds rushed eight times for 39 yards during Sunday's Week 18 win over the Minnesota Vikings. He also commanded two targets but was unable to haul in either pass. The 28-year-old has looked like a solid change-of-pace option in three games since David Montgomery (knee) went down, bringing his season totals to 139 rushing yards and 40 receiving yards. He remains a valuable backup for the Lions and handcuff for fantasy managers, but he can't be started in fantasy football as long as Jahmyr Gibbs is healthy. The highly anticipated return of Montgomery soon would also impact Reynolds, dropping him to third on the depth chart. At the moment, he's not on the fantasy radar for the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs.

Jameson Williams Jan 6 1:20am ET
Jameson Williams

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams caught six of his eight targets for 34 yards during Sunday's Week 18 win over the Minnesota Vikings. The former Ohio State star saw his three-game touchdown streak come to an end in the season finale, but he still salvaged his showing with a half-dozen receptions and modest yardage. Williams wraps up his second pro season with 58 catches, 1,001 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns. Although the Lions' offense places a lot of emphasis on Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, and Jahmyr Gibbs, players like Williams should be celebrated as flashy WR3/FLEX options in most leagues. He will generate plenty of interest in the early to middle rounds of 2025 fantasy drafts.

From RotoBaller

Amon-Ra St. Brown Jan 6 1:10am ET
Amon-Ra St. Brown

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown caught six of his seven targets for 77 yards during Sunday's Week 18 win over the Minnesota Vikings. St. Brown had been riding a three-game touchdown streak, so fantasy managers will be understandably disappointed he didn't find the end zone on Sunday night despite leading the Lions in receiving yards. He finished the regular season as the overall WR3 in PPR leagues, and he was just 1.3 points behind the No. 2 wide receiver, Justin Jefferson. All in all, it was an impressive year for the 25-year-old, who totaled double-digit touchdowns for the second year in a row and set a career-high for number of visits to the end zone. Even with the Lions' offense placing attention on Jameson Williams, Sam LaPorta, Jahmyr Gibbs, and David Montgomery, fantasy managers were able to enjoy the fact that St. Brown carved out an enormous role for himself and delivered a terrific season once again, playing in all 17 games. He should be a mid-first-round pick in 2025 fantasy drafts, and managers could absolutely justify making him the second wide receiver off the board after Ja'Marr Chase.

Jared Goff Jan 6 1:10am ET
Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 27 of 33 pass attempts for 231 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions during Sunday's Week 18 win over the Minnesota Vikings. He also took two sacks in the victory. Goff has seven interceptions through two Sunday Night Football games in 2024, but he has just 12 turnovers on the season in total. The veteran quarterback finished this year as the overall QB6 in fantasy football, finishing ahead of notable signal-callers like Bo Nix and Jalen Hurts. His final stats for the season include 4,629 passing yards, a career-high 37 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Additionally, for the first time in his career, he went a full season without losing a fumble. Goff certainly benefitted from having one of the NFL's best supporting casts around him, but it was also clear that he made his weapons better. The connections between Goff and players like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Sam LaPorta, and Jahmyr Gibbs help make the Lions such a dominant team offensively, and they should keep Goff in the mid-range QB1 tier for fantasy football in 2025.

From RotoBaller

Sam LaPorta Jan 6 1:10am ET
Sam LaPorta

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta caught all seven of his targets for 63 yards during Sunday's Week 18 win over the Minnesota Vikings. LaPorta played a large role in helping the Lions secure the NFC's top seed, both this weekend and over a greater stretch of games. In fact, over the final six weeks of the regular season, he ranked first among tight ends in fantasy points (tied with Trey McBride). It was impressive to watch the 23-year-old overcome a tough start to 2024 and finish the season as one of fantasy football's most productive, impactful tight ends. He should remain in the mid-range TE1 tier for 2025, and this season should serve as a reminder to fantasy managers that LaPorta is a top fantasy option regardless of whether his role in the Detroit offense takes a little while to develop.

Jahmyr Gibbs Jan 6 1:00am ET
Jahmyr Gibbs

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs totaled 139 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on 23 carries during Sunday's Week 18 win over the Minnesota Vikings. He also caught all five of his targets for 31 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. When all was said and done, Gibbs totaled 170 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns while leading the Lions to a division title and the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture. The 22-year-old running back was terrific while playing alongside David Montgomery (knee) for most of the 2024 season, and he has jumped to the elite tier ever since his backfield-mate went down with a knee injury. Even if Montgomery returns for the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs, Gibbs will remain a high-end RB1 for fantasy purposes thanks to his nearly unparalleled rushing, receiving, and touchdown upside.

Tua Tagovailoa Jan 6 12:50am ET
Tua Tagovailoa

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier will both return for the 2025 season, according to an announcement from owner Stephen Ross. There had been speculation about a potential leadership shakeup in Miami, and while Ross did acknowledge that he's actively looking for ways to improve the organization, he won't be parting ways with McDaniel or Grier. The Dolphins went 8-9 this past season, but they faced significant obstacles as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (hip) missed six games with numerous injuries. If Miami can solidify its defense this offseason and keep its playmakers healthy next year, they could secure a playoff berth. With that being said, it's fair to wonder if McDaniel's and Grier's jobs could be on the line if the Dolphins finish with a worse record in 2025. That conversation could all be moot, of course, if Miami strengthens its roster this offseason and makes a playoff push next year.

From RotoBaller

Audric Estime Jan 6 12:50am ET
Audric Estime

Denver Broncos rookie running back Audric Estime wasn't very effective on the ground with double-digit carries but managed to find the end zone in the 38-0 win on Sunday in Denver against the visiting division-rival Kansas City Chiefs in the Week 18 regular-season finale. Estime was afforded 12 carries -- his second time all year with double-digit carries -- with the Broncos offense moving the ball mostly at will against backups on defense for the Chiefs. The 21-year-old only gained 34 yards on his 12 carries (2.8 yards per tote) but found the end zone late for his second TD of the year (and second in the last three weeks). Still, most of Estime's work came late in the second half with the game already decided, working behind Jaleel McLaughlin and Javonte Williams early on. There will be minimal fantasy upside for the rookie in the first round of the playoffs against the Bills in Denver's committee backfield.

Tyreek Hill Jan 6 12:50am ET
Tyreek Hill

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (wrist) played through a torn ligament this season despite doctors recommending that he undergo surgery to repair the tear, agent Drew Rosenhaus told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Rosenhaus' reference to Hill's injury came during a conversation with Jackson regarding the receiver's apparent displeasure with the Dolphins after he hinted at a trade request on Sunday. The agent wouldn't disclose much about Hill's status in Miami without talking to him first, but he did share that the 30-year-old receiver played through a torn ligament for several months. This explains why Hill repeatedly appeared on the Dolphins' injury report in 2024, and it could also help to justify why the former superstar had one of the worst seasons of his career. In fact, for the first time since his rookie campaign in 2016, Hill had fewer than seven touchdowns and 1,000 receiving yards. Dolphins fans and fantasy managers should buckle up for a potentially hectic offseason if Hill confirms his desire to leave Miami. A new team and a full offseason to recover could be exactly what Hill needs if he wants to return to Pro Bowl form next season.

David Montgomery Jan 6 12:40am ET
David Montgomery

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery (knee) underwent a full workout on Saturday, according to NBC Sports' Sunday Night Football broadcast. This was Montgomery's first full workout since suffering an MCL sprain in Week 15, and it indicates that the veteran running back could be nearing a return to the field. Head coach Dan Campbell wouldn't comment on his timetable, though, and when NBC Sports' Melissa Stark asked Campbell if Montgomery could play next week, he said, "I'm excited. I'll just say that." That question is moot now that Detroit has clinched a bye through Wild Card Weekend, but the bottom line is that Montgomery might have a real chance to play in the Lions' next game during the Divisional Round. He and Jahmyr Gibbs arguably form the best one-two punch in the NFL, so having both backs healthy for the playoffs would give the Lions an enormous boost.

Devaughn Vele Jan 6 12:40am ET
Devaughn Vele

Denver Broncos rookie wide receiver Devaughn Vele was productive in the team's 38-0 blowout win over the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs in the Week 18 regular-season finale on Sunday, catching all four of his targets on the day for 50 yards and a touchdowns, his third of the year. Vele's touchdown catch was an acrobatic grab in the back of the end zone in the second half in which two Chiefs defenders deflected it first. It was an incredible demonstration of concentration for the seventh-rounder out of Utah who has now scored in two of the last three games. The 27-year-old finishes the regular season as Denver's third leading receiver with 41 receptions, 475 yards and three touchdowns. As the No. 3 in the Broncos offense heading into a wild-card matchup against the Buffalo Bills on the road, Vele will merely be a touchdown-dependent WR sleeper in DFS lineups.

Cam Akers Jan 6 12:40am ET
Cam Akers

Minnesota Vikings running back Cam Akers rushed six times for 65 yards in Sunday's 31-9 loss to the Detroit Lions. Akers had a long rush of 58 yards -- breaking free early in the third quarter to bring Minnesota inside the Lions' five-yard line. However, the drive would stall, and they'd turn it over on downs. Otherwise, he gained only seven yards on his other five carries against a Lions defense out to prove a point in the season finale. Backfield mate Aaron Jones was sidelined for a bit in this one, but no injury was reported. If Jones is forced to miss time, the 25-year-old would be the next man up, and projects to command the lion's share of the team's backfield touches. It'd be wise to keep an eye on Jones' practice status this week as the team prepares for a Wild Card bout with the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.

From RotoBaller

Aaron Jones Jan 6 12:30am ET
Aaron Jones

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones rushed 10 times for 45 yards in Sunday night's 31-9 loss to the Detroit Lions, adding 30 yards through the air on five of six receiving. The 30-year-old was effective when he touched the rock but did not receive his typical allotment of snaps in this one. Jones was utilized heavily on the Vikings' first drive but saw just one more touch in the quarter before taking off for a few possessions. He'd again be frequently featured on their last drive of the first half, but he saw only five more touches for the rest of the game. The broadcast noted that the eighth-year pro had been on the sideline for an extended period, though no injury designation had been made. He'd also take a shot later in the game and was slow to get up, so that and his previous quad ailment are possibly the culprits for his diminished snaps. Seeing the veteran limited at practice this week wouldn't be surprising. Jones will get an extra day of rest as his team now prepares for their road tilt with the Los Angeles Rams next Monday night to cap off wild-card weekend. Minnesota's first practice report will be out on Thursday.

Courtland Sutton Jan 6 12:30am ET
Courtland Sutton

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton not only helped the Broncos reach the playoffs for the first time since 2015 in their 38-0 shutout win over the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in the Week 18 regular-season finale, but he also reached the 1,000-yard mark in the regular season for only the second time in his career. Sutton finished the day with five receptions for a team-high 98 yards and a touchdown on a team-high seven targets. Half of the 29-year-old's yardage on the day came on his first catch, a 47-yarder in the first quarter. After a slow start with rookie quarterback Bo Nix, Sutton has come on strong in the second half and will finish with eight total touchdowns after scoring 10 in 2023. He's been Nix's go-to receiver all year long, and that should change in the wild-card round on the road in Buffalo against the Bills. Sutton will be a WR1 in DFS contests and playoff leagues.

T.J. Hockenson Jan 6 12:30am ET
T.J. Hockenson

Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson brought in 2-of-8 targets for nine yards in his team's 31-9 loss to the Detroit Lions. The Lions weren't messing around on Sunday night and were a brick wall on defense for the first time in a few weeks. Hockenson was consistently targeted on third down by quarterback Sam Darnold, but Detroit was there time and time again to break up the pass. It's the Iowa alum's worst outing since his return from injury in a game when the Vikings scored their fewest points of the season. Darnold had pressure in his face all night, and the Lions' defensive backfield was equally impressive in their coverage. Unfortunately for Minnesota, they'll prepare for a road tilt with the Los Angeles Rams next Monday night in lieu of a week off and home-field advantage. LA allowed the sixth-most fantasy points per game to TEs in the regular season, so Hockenson stands a good chance at a productive day during Wild Card Weekend.

Bo Nix Jan 6 12:20am ET
Bo Nix

Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix saved his best performance of an incredible rookie season for the Week 18 regular-season finale in a 38-0 shutout win over the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday that sends the Broncos to the postseason for the first time since they won Super Bowl 50. With the Chiefs resting most of their best players on defense in this one, Nix took advantage to go 26-for-29 for a season-high 321 yards and four touchdowns. He added seven carries for 47 yards on the ground and broke an NFL record for a rookie with 17 straight completions. As he's done all year, the 24-year-old first-rounder from Oregon spread the wealth to three different receivers for his four TD passes. Nix looks like the real deal after his first 17 NFL games, throwing for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while adding four rushing TDs. He'll face a challenging matchup in Buffalo against the Bills in his first taste of playoff football next Sunday.

Marvin Mims Jan 6 12:20am ET
Marvin Mims

Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. is coming alive at the right time for the Broncos. The second-year wideout caught two touchdowns for the second straight week in the 38-0 blowout win over the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in the Week 18 regular-season finale. Mims came down with all five of his targets for 51 yards to help the Broncos advance to the postseason for the first time since 2015. The 22-year-old scored the first TD of the day on a 32-yard reception and later added a seven-yard plunge in the third quarter. His five targets on the day were second to Courtland Sutton, and Mims has now had at least four targets in six straight games to close the season. Mims will head into a wild-card playoff matchup in Buffalo against the Bills as Denver's No. 2 wideout who relies mainly on big plays and yards-after-the-catch ability to deliver for fantasy managers.

Jordan Addison Jan 6 12:10am ET
Jordan Addison

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison caught 1-of-6 targets and gained no yards in his team's 31-9 loss to the Detroit Lions. Oof. Addison didn't receive his first target until the Vikings' first drive of the second quarter -- a bubble screen he caught for no gain. The next play was a deep shot to him in the end zone where he had a step on the defender, but quarterback Sam Darnold overthrew him. Otherwise, he and Darnold were not on the same page Sunday night. Detroit's defense was hungry and made a statement with linebacker Alex Anzalone back in the lineup -- keeping the QB out of rhythm and disrupting plays on the back end. With the loss, Minnesota will forego a week off and line up against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium next Monday night. It's another exploitable matchup for the Vikes, so expect them to come out swinging in a win-or-go-home Wild Card clash.

Justin Jefferson Jan 6 12:00am ET
Justin Jefferson

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson reeled in 3-of-9 targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 31-9 loss to the Detroit Lions. It's a disappointing outcome for the fantasy stalwart, as he'd been on quite a tear and was entering a favorable spot against his division rivals. However, Detroit's defense clamped down on the Vikings during the season finale, consistently pressuring quarterback Sam Darnold and keeping their offense off-kilter. The loss breaks a nine-game winning streak for Minnesota and drops them down to the fifth seed in the NFC playoff picture. Instead of a week off and home-field advantage throughout the tournament, they'll now travel to SoFi Stadium in the Wild Card round to line up against the Los Angeles Rams. Expect Jefferson to get back on track next Monday night against a Rams squad that allowed the sixth-most yards per game in 2024.

George Kittle Jan 6 12:00am ET
George Kittle

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (ankle, hamstring) was outproduced by his backup Eric Saubert during the team's 47-24 loss to the Cardinals in Arizona. Kittle caught two of three targets for 27 yards. The affable team captain was questionable and ultimately activated but had his snap count reduced in the meaningless game. Most likely, the 49ers organization was showing appreciation to Kittle by giving him the start since he has a $500,000 per-game roster bonus in his contract. Kittle finishes an excellent season as the overall half-PPR TE2, behind only Las Vegas Raiders rookie Brock Bowers and just ahead of Arizona's Trey McBride. He amassed 78 receptions, 1,106 yards, and eight touchdowns in 2024. He was hyper-efficient this year, setting career marks in catch percentage and yards per target. Kittle will enter his age-32 season in 2025 once again as a fantasy TE1 with San Francisco.
